So earlier on, I saw a thread about betrayal and the stories in between.

To me, I'd say this is a counter thread. Yes I know there are many bad people, yes I know there are many betrayal stories, but I strongly believe that there are good stories that needs to be shared.

Funnily enough, in my life I have met total strangers who have done marvellous things in my life. I'll relate just two. One was from Nairaland here and the second was from my service year.

Nairaland story: so I'm a writer and for a long time I had always wished to own a blog, written my fiction stories and share my ideas to as much people as I could. Some how, I met a moniker and from a hello we got talking. I told him about my writing dream and long story short, been an internet savy dude, he created a WordPress blog with Google adsense and all(only bloggers would understand what it means to have a blog with Google adsense created for u) and handed the blog to me for free. This act of goodness was from a total stranger I met here on nl (though it's been years since we spoke, I still respect him till today)

NYSC story: due to some financial constraints my family was going through, while returning to my ppa I was assigned to, for which the journey was for six hours from Port Harcourt to Ondo state for my one year compulsory service, my parents gave me only 10,000 as in ten thousand naira only, of which 6,000 was the stipulated tfare.

I totally understood the family crisis at the time, so I took the money, cried for a whole hour, slept that night and braced myself for the unexpected journey the next day to a land where I knew not no one(pardon that speech... Lol).

On arrival at Ondo state, I report to my PPA, then went to the corpers Lodge and reunited with friends I had met from camp. They had all reported days earlier and had settled in. So far I was like the last person to report in my PPA as it was a struggle to get the 10,000 for tfare.

Most of the corpers had already gotten mattresses, pots, stoves and all essentials that were needed to survive and there I was with #4,000 left with me -four thousand naira on one hand and a long list of needs on the other hand.

Although most of my friends were excited to see me, I managed to sneak out of them, isolated myself in one of the rooms and did what could do best -cry my eyes out in silence. I can remember square how it was. I was so silent, only tears were running down my eyes but deep down, I was screaming and yelling at my creator.

Almost immediately after the shedding session, my phone rang. It was a call from a woman I had been introduced to by a friend I had met in camp. (This one is a story for another day).

I immediately put myself in order and answered the phone. As I said hello, long story short, she was screaming at me asking me questions like "corper why re you like this? Why did you return to Ondo and you cannot come and see me? Did I offend you the first day you met me?"

I had to apologise and immediately I head to her house. As I got there, she told me that if she didn't offend me and I wish to, I could come live in her furnished one bed room apartment for my one year service for free. The one bedroom apartment was well furnished, had a king size bed, wardrope, extremely furnished kitchen with a fridge, micro wave, pots, plates, spoons and all you can think of. The only thing she asked me to buy with my money was a cylinder.

I was amazed. An hour ago I was left with only 4,000 and no way to begin my NYSC life but there I was given all I asked for and more.

Fast forward one year later, after my service year, the stranger woman who is now my God mother thanked me for spending one whole year with her and I left Ondo state with 250,000 to begin my makeup business on returning to Port Harcourt. ( I was able to save that amount because God mother was always giving me food and she introduced me to jewelry business. I usually followed her on her Lagos trips, got jewelries and other items and was a business woman per say). Lol

In a nutshell, I met a stranger who is now a mother. Share yours

Hmmm.

Me wey carry my two legs say I wan trek go Europe, na so I go lost for road inside Morocco.

But God in his infinite mercies and plans he has for my life going forward placed kind-hearted Moroccans at every juncture to bail me out without much of any communication between us. They usually just stepped in, rendered their helps like true Angels, and off they go without even waiting for a "thank you".

Long tori oh

There's indeed God. He abideth with me till this day and there are angels truly, they abound even on this forum.

I went to Benin for the first time, I was called for medical examination due to a job I applied for. I got lost and before I could get to the venue, they've closed for the day. I went in search for a cheap hotel I can afford and then it started raining.
I got confused cause there is no shade to even hide. I saw two women sitting in a shop and decided to ask them about any affordable hotel and I was asked to walk into a certain street. As I was going, one of the women called me back and asked what my mission was cause she saw me somewhere asking for directions before.
I explained to her and she offered me a place to stay. I went home with her, she fed me and made sure my clothes were dried.
She personally took me to the venue for the medical exam the following morning, I just couldn't thank her enough.
Its been two years now and I haven't seen her again after that incident but I will make sure to look for her soon

Yes, multiple times.
The first 'big' favour I can remember is a stranger getting me a brand new phone after he picked up my very old phone from a keke where I lost it, it was a Samsung phone and I picked it up with my mum, everything happened on the same day (it was a Sunday), that was the period I left secondary school.

A Nairalander has helped me secure a job during my IT, we ain't in touch anymore but I'm forever grateful.
I believe that good people still exist.

Yes, during the Jos crises in 2001, I was on my way from Zaria to Jos, I left Zaria late, our car was stopped by Christian youths, we were already in Jos close close to university of Jos and were sent back, I had only 40 naira on me, I was planning to enter a cab from the park to terminus, terminus to my house.
We were all Christians in the car with one Muslim. We reached a settlement and the driver said he is not going any further. A lady in the car overheard some guys discussing that once the driver leaves, they will rape us.

To cut a long story short, a guy mentioned that he has an uncle who lives around but he had not visited in years, we trekked for close to 40 minutes before locating the house. Upon reaching the house, we saw that the house had been riddled with bullets, apparently, the house was robbed the previous night, the wife's head was broken and most of their food carted away.

They family accepted all eight of us,treated us as family, shared the little they had and allowed me call my parents who assumed I was dead.

I'll never forget that act of kindness, they were members of GCM.

Yeah....One early morning, I went to a Jetty close to my area to board a boat going to Apapa(I have a professional exam to write at McCarthy,Obalende.Unfortunately,on getting to the Jetty, I saw a lot of passengers, then out of nowhere,a private boat stopped to pick two men,my people...it was already some minutes to 7:00am and my exam is by 8:00am,I needed to do something or else, I will carry over that course, I jumped into the boat and greeted them. They answered and one of the men even helped me to button my life jacket, while on the water, I was praying, I didn't really know what I was telling God but I know I was a bit scared, after some time, one of the men asked me where I was going and I explained,he asked me why I didn't wake up early, I explained that I needed to dress my kids to school before going out and my husband wasn't around at that time. The man seems satisfied with my answer and that was how I got to my destination with a thousand naira to continue my journey.I was so grateful....

Here is my story...............
Sometime in 2016
We travelled from Uyo to Onitsha for The Salvation Army Students and graduates fellowship from a Thursday till Sunday. On our way back to Uyo, Ikwuano LGA to be precise, our bus broke down, gear box issues, in the middle of nowhere.
Time- past 6pm.
Total number of people- 26 (we were packed like sardines in an 18seater bus).
Suddenly I understood the meaning of the word Stranded.
Since we where coming from a church, (most of us where still on our church uniforms) we checked for the nearest churches around for shelter. We rolled bus. Our first stop was Apostolic church where the resident pastor informed us that he can't host us since he will need authorization from a superior pastor (which we can't get that night) and could loose his seat if he does this. Understood. We continued rolling our bus.
Our next stop was Assemblies of God where the resident pastor, a Woman named Reverend Mrs Ogbonnaya allowed us to use the Church hall as shelter for the night. I always imagined the risk that woman took, definitely she could have been under the same orders as the other clergyman in the previous church, again we could have been terrorist, robbers, marauders or kidnappers disguised as Church goers, (hollywood movies will tell you that wink ). Big risk I tell you. Well she housed us in the church and let us park our bus in the premises. She proceeded to feed us Dinner and called some members of the church to mount security all night as vigilante. We were her Guests wink
The next morning our leaders battled to fix our car or find a replacement to take us back to uyo. As a mark of solidarity we cleaned the church premises, (sweeping and cutting grass) helped her with her chores as she made breakfast and lunch for us and kept her company. Be reminded that the cleaning and sweeping was uncalled for since the members would have done this, so its her alone who did us a favour by feeding and housing all 26 of us. It was taking our leaders an eternity to find a solution before they finally settled on getting us a bus. Finally in the evening another bus arrived and we set off for Uyo via Ikot Ekpene, we took photos with Our kind hearted Host and promised to return to thank her properly. Some of us where already crying at the thought of saying goodbyes to a rare stranger with a heart of gold. You needed to see the moment. As we drove back, I pondered on the events of the past 24 hours and said a prayer of blessings and reward for an angel God sent to our crew in a time of distress and swore to return the same favour to others in similar situations.

How about that for an experience...........

PS
Reverend Mrs Ogbonnaya Wherever you are, your reward is in Heaven, and on earth too, you and your family members will never knw the meaning of the word *stranded*. May Blessings, favour, , good health of body mind and soul, be your unleavable companion......one day I will find you, and I will say my Gratitudes in my very special way. But until then, remain under the shelter of God's grace, goodness and mercies.
Ijn

My peace I leave you

Life has served a lot of people unsavoury dishes that has left them bitter, sorrowful, and vengeful.

Thinking, telling, and reliving the good we have given or received make life sweet and memorable to say the least, especially giving thought to the kindness we have received from others, as this wil help us to go through life reciprocating such good gesture, not only to those who have been fair and kind, but also to those who are strangers.

I have been a beneficiary of such kind gesture severally, but will just mention one which is quite unheard and rare. During my service year, I boarded a car along with three other passengers in Abuja travelling to Yola in Adamawa State. l happened to be the only passenger going to Yola, others were going to Gombe. I was disturbed and quickly asked the Fulani guy sitting beside me to help ask if the driver would take only me to Yola though it might be late. He conversed with the driver in Hausa and said the driver declined taking only me to my destination. I was obviously afraid but this Fulani guy who happened to be a lawyer, calmed me down and promised me safety. He took care of my feeding all along the journey. We got to Gombe around 11pm and he helped with my bags as we headed to his house in a taxi. Seeing l was scared and suspicious, he assured.me he wasn't a beast and will do me no harm. I believed him and slept so late cos l was keeping vigil, lols.
At daybreak, he got me a taxi that took me to Yola park and paid my t-fare. The painful part was that I could not call to thank him for his kindness cos l lost his phone number.

Wherever he may be, l pray God's mercy will always speak for him in Jesus name.

Yes

When I went to KD for NYSC, I applied to join OBS, wrote the exam, did the interview and I passed.

Our Boss was a certain Mr. B( NYSC Official)

A strict man with no time for nonsense.

Fast forward to when were about to leave camp, he told me to wait for him that he would take me to KD town where I was posted to in his car as he was on his way to Zaria where he lives. I joined him and we arrived KD.

He took me to a certain house and told me I'll stay there for my service year if I'm interested and zoomed off. An elderly couple lived there with their 2 kids and a help. That was how I started living with them.

Turned out the wife is his younger sister.

I always get favor from strangers when I'm pregnant also.

2years ago I took my brother inlaw who lives in the UK to MM2 for his late night flight, his new wife was in the car with me and my sister too,we left the aiport back home (surulere)around 9pm,tire got flat in Ikeja, none of the 3female occupants knew how to change a tire and we stopped at a bend!
We were waving cars down for over 30mins,boys were lurking around already without coming closer to help, this angel in a black Toyota got his driver to change the tire, waited for us to get back in the car before he leaves too just to find out we ran the battery out cos the headlight was on all the while, oga got out again, car batteries are not the same so he could not help with his, waved a taxy down who insisted on collecting 1500 to help us JumpStart, bros paid the cab man,the guys lurking around had come join us the moment the man stopped and said they will collect money too,I wanted to say for what oga say no,he handed them money too, waited till we moved before he left!!
I didnt ask for his name but I know my "eleda" would have thanked him in so many ways since then.....there are angels,it can be you!!

God places good people at different spot to help others.
It was July of 2006, on our way back from excursions in qua ibo in uyo heading to owerri.
We left uyo late because our bus broke down and had to be fixed. We left close to 6pm on getting to somewhere between abia and owerri there was armed robbery going on and people were outside their buses. We didn't know the severity of the robbery until we started hearing heavy machine gun fire. We scampered for safety into the bushes around. The robbers followed into the Bush kept shooting against us and sporadically. Many students were on the ground and I crawled to a building nearby through the staircases and knocked on the door and they opened the door for me in the midst of the chaos and allowed me in. The shooting continued from 8pm till 5am. People were slaughtered and Injuries were enormous but thank God no students had major injuries.
I stayed with the family throughout the entire chaos that night and they took care of me.
God bless them abundantly.
