it depends, if one easily take corrections and tries to do the right thing, it means he or she is matured enough regardless of Age, hence such person doesn't require strict correctional measures but if otherwise, strict correctional measures may be required regardless of age, and applied with care to suit the person.

soldiers are trained to be respectful, loyal and organized hence most of them go through tough correctional measures which beating/drilling is one of them.
so if a man of 50yrs doesn't behave matured, I don't see any wrong in applying any correctional measures that will suit him(he can be flogged, beaten etc).
