Instead of donating to their parishioners, they donated to the government..

When they need second collection or church projects, they better go to the government.. angry

LMAO!!!

So many wailers on the first two pages.
They were just so blind to see the part where the archbishop told various parishes to reach out to people around them.
Before covid19, Catholic church has been donating to the needy.
If the Catholic Church shared to only it's members, they will still wail about how unfair the Catholic Church is by sharing to only her members.
The church has done her own part.
If the government mismanages the relief materials, someday their judgment will come.

Wailers keep wailing!!!
The church is marching on and the gates of hell won't stand against it!!!!!

No problem giving to the Government to support the fight but the Parishioners are right, Charity ought to have begun from home.

Did you read the article properly at all?
Did you see where 78 parishes who couldn't give pallatives to their parishioners were given money from the Chancery donated by Catholics in lagos to help the needy.
Every single parish in the Archdiocese of lagos was instructed to give out pallatives to members who need it..

Not sure you if you read the whole article but I pulled this from it "The Archbishop later revealed that the support offered to Lagos State Government was in addition to the provisions for the poor that he directed the over 180 parishes of the Archdiocese to make in their different localities spread all over the State".

The Catholic church is the biggest provider of charity outside of actual governments globally.

Finally, someone who read the article. ....

Even at that, you're way off mark.
The catholic church in lagos does more charity than you can think of. Got to any government hospital, school, prison and ask those who work there you'd be surprised.
Now every parish has a society called ST Vincent De Paul and st Rita. They feed, clothe, pay hospital bills for the needy every week, without asking you any questions about your religion, what church you attend. EVERY WEEK.
Thats aside the private ones people embark on.
The catholic church in all its wisdom also takes its civil responsibilities very seriously. We always do our duty by assisting the Government were necessary. Because its a donation to the government its made public but I can assure you that charity is going on this very moment by the Catholic Church.

I'm afraid at the kind of people we have in Nigeria. Read the article before you comment. Did we miss this part?

The Archbishop later revealed that the support offered to Lagos State Government was in addition to the provisions for the poor that he directed the over 180 parishes of the Archdiocese to make in their different localities spread all over the State. He commended the Priests and the faithful of the different Parishes for taking action on the directive, thereby revealing Jesus’ love of the poor in the provisions they are making for the people
.

About 78 smaller parishes that could not afford to make the provisions without some support were assisted with various sums of money from the nearly 10million naira that was raised from the Archbishop’s Appeal to the faithful at the beginning of the lockdown. He expressed gratitude to the lay faithful who within a short period of time helped him to raise the money.

To the best of my knowledge, ALL Parishes in Archdiocese of Lagos including the Cathedral shared relief materials to every poor Parishioners.

Does it mean they didnt give anything to the state government?

So you're saying that their own personal thing should not be given to government because of what nah?
Im telling you that they have alreadt taken care of their home and still taking care of it and that they are giving to government to aid those they might not be able to reach you're talking crap.
Remind me again what exactly your point is?
If you read the article properly like you were supposed to you wont be talking nonsense.

The people in government are they not nigerians?
You just make generalized statements because you dont like government, the little palliative they've been giving to folks where do you think it came from Jupiter?
The free medi care that government hospitals are giving during this pandemic where do you think it came from, your pockets?
The isolation centres that is being used to treat covid patients, were did it come from,?
Donations made by churches and individuals is what thr government is using to help the situation. Remove the hatred and bigotry for government and see the good thats been done isntead of always criticising, blindly at that.

I guess GTB should take back their isolation centre since nothing should be donated to government.
Open your eyes and "attack" with wisdom. The little palatives the government has been giving to folks where do you think it came from? Mars? Yes,our government has messed up in so many ways but that does not change the fact that the lagos state government is not trying to do what they can. If the catholic churcb gives to only their members, pray tell, who will feed all those who arent christians, too old and the sick. Instead of lashing out like a toodler what we should be calling for is transparency and dlligence in giving out those items to the people who genuinely need it

Lol,i quite understand.
Mocking or "yabbing" someone who has done charity in anyway, what does that spell?
Sometimes will definitely be stolen, but, some people who otherwise had no hope or chance will get the help they needed. Thats enough to be thankfuk for.
Sometimes before we criticise we should look at the bigger picture and see if, just if, there's good in it.
