Openbusiness:They know what they are doing,it's all still a game to them,I just hope it doesn't backfire soon. I totally agree with you that the lockdown is absolutely unnecessary and a bloody waste of time. They had the chance to have quarantined compulsory all those coming into the country which would have been cheaper than what we have now. They had the chance to ramp up capacity of PHCs to enable them carry out testing so as to cover a wider range of the populace They had the chance to provide palliatives for the vast number of vulnerable person's so as to enable it by manage the lockdown they imposed But what do we have, ineptitude, politics and self aggrandizement everywhere ![]() |

9jaRealist:The question is, why did they wait too long to ramp up the test and why are they not taking massive action to increase testing capabilities in other countries. Even the current rate of testing is not enough if we consider how deadly this virus is around the World. We need to act faster in a very large capacity. |

9jaRealist:Story, take responsibility because your hopeless do-nothing govt kept billions of money in my pocket to spend for me to take responsibility on their behalf, mtchwwwwwwwww. No government survives mass anarchy! Let them continue dulling and let's see who will lose at the end. Already so much billions in revenue has been lost, so much billions of govt allocation funds spent, yet the matter never even enter gear 2, we still dey gear 1. The Nigerian economy is already romancing with recession, by the time the recession get belle dem go know wassup. Foreign countries like US, UK, EU that normally play big brother and captain hero to save have their own plates full and battling for survival of their own. |

Seenyo:The “I jumped off the bridge because others jumped” argument? ![]() Anyway, you will not get any argument from me... I’ve regularly said that BOTH the government and the governed are lawless in Nigeria. However, while there’re many things the government can be blamed for... It should not be blamed for the obtuse civic irresponsibility of ordinary Nigerians. #TakeResponsibility > |

TheGoodJoe:Nigeria simply did not have the capacity to do so... But neither did the US, UK, Italy, France and so many other nations across the globe. It’s only in NL that Nigeria is not a third world nation (when tbh, Nigeria is not even rich third world)... The reality is that Covid-19 caught virtually EVERY nation by surprise and everyone is making it up as they go along. > |

Why we kept on having figures like this from Lagos i.e spikes is because each time government relaxes lockdown,, 'we don't care anymore!' now government had started planning another for CEOs then there comes the spike, residents should help the government now because no one knows the last person that will test positive in Lagos yet. |
| Re: COVID-19 : 70 New Cases In Lagos, Lagos Mainland Has Highest Number Of Cases by 9jaRealist: 8:49am On Apr 20, 2020 |
TheGoodJoe:Covid-19 testing is NOT like going into your neighborhood pharmacy and buying a pregnancy test... ![]() Not only do you have to set up molecular labs (because it’s been the only reliable test thus far)... But you have to properly train personnel and buy the necessary reagents - which are in short supply because EVERYONE wants it. > |

9jaRealist:Oga if the people are dying then the government is dying. RULE #1 THE PEOPLE make the country, and not the country that makes the people. RULE #2 POLITICS 101 WITHOUT THE PEOPLE THERE CAN BE NO GOVERNMENT, But without the government people can still exist. THE PEOPLE ARE THE LIFE BLOOD OF GOVERNMENT! Only A STUPID GOVERNMENT will sit idly by and watch its people die by the thousands because WHEN THE PEOPLE DIE BY THE THOUSANDS JUST KNOW THAT THE GOVERNMENT IN POWER IS ALREADY DEAD. Either 2 things will happen: NO GOVERNMENT (Anarchy) or NEW GOVERNMENT! EITHER WAY the current government is a goner. Why do you think Trump is running down the clock 24/7 giving Americans $1200 each, asking congress for $250 billion for businesses affected etc. Because he will be a GONER by November elections if the people die in thousands like they are doing and the government is as little as PERCEIVED to be INEFFECTIVE in meeting their needs and handling the situation. Same thing in Europe. Just wait and see. If APC won't be finished politically dead and buried if this COVID-19 kills thousands of Nigerians. Let's see whether APC won't lose Lagos election for the first time in 20 years when Lagosians start dying like chickens. They lose the power, they lose the privileges that come with the power and their political empire will evaporate right before their eyes. THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST VALUABLE ASSET AND POWER IN ANY COUNTRY IS THE PEOPLE. |

Holaomoakin:We don’t know for sure if this is a substantive ‘spike’ (as opposed to simply more numbers due to more testing)... Until Friday, when we see the number of tests relative to positives, we might actually be flattening (or even bending) the infection curve. > |

Its not surprising though. Most of the major cities in the world have been the epicenter. From Paris to Moscow to lagos to London, to newyork, Madrid, guacuanyil in Ecuador, millan etc. These are the major hotspots of the virus in the world. |

Openbusiness:I am still yet to get why the FG have not yet put together a Covid-19 coalition with the private sector and academic institutions. I find it hard to believe that we can not develop rapid test kits for Covid-19 here in Nigeria if we channel resources, intellectuals and manpower towards it. The sluggishness in this response is frightening. We need local solutions from testing, treatment and provision of PPEs. |

TheGoodJoe:Our first test was done in South Africa... Now we have moved from about 100 (or less) tests daily to between 1,500 and 2000 - and building. We are moving in the RIGHT direction... So you can stay a PRISONER of the past or concentrate on making your present/future much better. > |

9jaRealist:Which right direction? With the very slow pace? Why did it take so long to set up centres? While other nations were equipping and testing, these guys were joking and sitting on it. I am talking about the present that we are not testing enough. Not the past. We need to channel all resources to fight these virus. What the heck are they doing with the N15 Billion released by the Presidency for the tackle of Covid-19? |
