Cases keep rising despite lock down and the economy keeps suffering, it seems not to be working. I guess we learn how to live with this virus. A time will come wen continuous staying at home will be unrealistic

I'm starting to have a rethink as regards this Covid19 cases in Nigeria. It is either the government is over- reporting or under-reporting this cases. I'm not convinced they are sincere with the figures, I might be wrong though.

But this is my take:

The Corona Virus in Nigeria is not as Lethal as we were made to believe. The late Abba Kyari came back to Nigeria March 14 and was diagnosed of the disease March 24, he attended several conferences, APC meetings and also led a delegation to the Kogi state Governor to greet him for the demise of his Mother amongst other things he did Within the 10 days.

Now, no single person was infected by the Late COS from the records, and the only record we have of someone infecting another person is Atiku son that infected the Bauchi Governor.

Hence, I believe all this hullabaloo about the spread of the disease here is weak. We've been on lockdown for about 25 days and we have barely tested 10,000 persons. It's obvious the government is not ready to do mass testing and the cases reported kept rising, so of what use is the Lockdown? What's the objectives of the Total Lockdown?

The government just need to devise any other mechanism for curbing this disease; a total lockdown cannot be sustained.

We were told the virus symptoms and it's complications will start showing after 14 days, since we've been at home how many people has fallen ill suddenly or died unexpectedly in each of our areas across the country. All of us sha can never be asymptomatic.

If they want to share the money, they should go and share it, they should leave us to go and continue our hustle. We are not able to sleep at night, vigilante up and down.

My Verdict: The lockdown should be partial, people can move around with facemask and any other thing to protect themselves. Schools, mosques, churches can still hold on. People are broke and hunger is real!

Some of you folks will never get it...
Let’s just hope Covid-19 doesn’t go “viral” in Nigeria. SMH

This unicellular organism has changed the texture and order of a complex planet like earth. See strong men and women dying daily because of one virus.

HOW CAN A SINGULAR SIMPLE CELLED UNIT RAVAGE THE WHOLE PLANET AND LEAD TO THE DEATH OF SEVERAL COMPLEX MULTICELLULAR HUMANS ON EARTH?

There is really more to this virus than we know or may ever know.

Coro na bastard o.
A virus is not a cell. It doesn't have the full compliments to qualify as a cell. Due to their unique characteristics, viruses can neither be classified as animals nor plants. Biologists class them under a different order.

The death rate is fu***ing high kilode...as it is im not sure people are been given the best and adequate care they needed. Dnt even say they are vulnerable or have underlying health issues, if someone like seyi makinde (51) and el rufia can survive it ( dat im sure they wld v one or two health issues) then they is something wrong..are the common man been given oxygen and ventillators to aid their breathing Or is the few inadequate ventilators been reserved for our corrupt politicians and high class? Does the common man has the same opportunity as our leaders? Are they given equal or best treatment or are they just left to their fate? C'mon we see the ways the european nurses and doctors are treating and giving their all best to each and evryone of their patient...can we say the same to my BELOVED COUNTRY?
Our healthcare system is yet overwhelmed and we are recording this much death...if its overwhelmed nko, that means we wld be recording like 5k death per day!
This is not just so FREAKING RIGHT ASWEAR!
BAZ001:
This is nigeria d rich will always have preferencial treatment while poor will be struggling to even get attention.
That's why I pity the common poor men that are saying hunger wants to kill them at home so they are on the street looking for food.

Na d poor suppose go hide for house till all is gone , yet na d rich dey house d poor dey street.

Do actually understand what is meant by “underlying health issues”?
Cancer and diabetes (like ex-PPMC MD Achimugu), heart disease, kidney or liver issues, etc.

These are conditions that can kill you of themselves...
Meanwhile, what’s the difference in “class” between EI-Rufai, Makinde and Abba Kyari?

The reality is although Nigeria now has 31 fatalities...
The overwhelming majority (over 90%) of positive cases would recover - rich, poor or middle class!

This lockdown can't just continue without palliatives to the common man. It's sounds crazy.

And majority of those who support lockdown will receive their salaries at the end - talking of government workers, big company workers etc.

What is the objective of the lock down?
It's very simple the lock down is to reduce the spread of the virus.

Why are the cases increasing despite the lock down?

Ans -we see increase in infected people because more test is being done in Lagos
If other states also have the manpower to conduct more test than they do now, by now the figures would be in thoudands

Why is the lock down significant

Ans.if Mr A contracted the virus and he keeps moving around Mr B will be infected and down to Mr C.the virus will keep spreading.

Did the COS infect close proximity

Ans -Yes. some of his staff. Moreover it was reported on nairaland.
Most people might have been infected tru the COS with names not given

I watched the testimony of a survival on Channels TV. According to him a well known pastor got infected and was alloted a separate ward just because he wanted to keep it a secret.

Will the numbers keep going up

Ans- Yes, in my area 30 samples will be collected today
If lagos sustain the speed in testing and Kano also resume testing in large numbers, by then we will see a clearer picture

Let Nigerians resume their daily jobs and businesses while the rest safety measures is still enforced.

LOCKING DOWN NIGERIANS UNDER THE PRETEXT OF CURBING DOWN THE CORONAVIRUS SPREAD IS VIOLATION OF THEIR DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS.

President Buhari failed to seek the approval of the national assembly before locking down Lagos state, Ogun state and the FCT Abuja.

Lets Nigerians have the choice to remain indoor or to go out.

It is so unfortunate that democratically elected governors are promoting military styled dictatorship just because they want to embezzle WHO funds that will subsequently be paid to membership countries.

It is so laughable that government in Nigeria that does not care whether the common man exist are the one claiming to be concerned about our welfare and well-being health wise.

NA WORLD HEALTH MONEY DEY THEIR THROATS.

I think the number of cases is a thousand times more than this, their are no kits to test people, the death toll is also way more than what is been written. The hospital I work in is the base of isolation in FCT, infected ones are dying, and it's not reflecting on NCDC statistics. China has already set presidence for reporting fake death toll, other countries are just following suit
Onyxnaija:
Your conclusion is accurate. The death toll from COVID-19 in Nigeria and many countries is being grossly under reported. If you think that the number of people infected in Nigeria is less than 1000, then please wake up. It’ll be at least 10,000 infected cases and counting.

Testing is almost non-existent. A country of over 200 million and number of tests done till date is still under 10,000. The sooner people obey the social distancing and hand hygiene recommendations the earlier the curve will be flattened. Until then, this pandemic will take a lot of precious lives and maim even more.

Many people who recover from this terrible disease end up with residual cardiovascular, kidney or lung disease. COVID-19 is no joke! Do everything within your powers to prevent it. May God help us as we help ourselves.

Covid’s morbidity is caused by respiratory failure...
You simply cannot hide extreme Covid-19 cases and fatalities - unless you are actively seeking to do so.

Let’s not attribute every death atm in Nigeria to Covid...
We still have other pathogens and parasites that are killing folks in Nigeria - Lassa fever, acute malaria, etc.

The most populous black nation in the world having less than 1000 cases and people are still talking shit that corona is scam. We should rather be doubting that the figures being announced is way too low than the actual cases.
Mind u, Kano is likely having issues with test kits, so nobody has been tested there in the last 48hrs.

The cases in Lagos will keep increasing till Lagosians use their heads. Stay at home, use mask, social distance for where they don't listen. Go to Mile 12 and see the crowd. Even. In surulere Lawanson Bus stop areas people are walking about carelessly. Yes there's hunger in the land, add coro to the hunger is death sentence.

If Lagos State relax this Lockdown it is all over. The spread will be worse. There's no Lockdown as we speak as people till come out in numbers to gist.

Nigeria tested only 5000 in about the first 5 or 6 weeks...
But has tested about 5000 over the past week, so testing is ramping-up.
