How many are employed in Nigeria? Many of you try to talk about things you least understand.

How many have filed for unemployment benefits in countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia?
I'm afraid you're the one talking about stuffs you have limited knowledge of. If Nigerians are going to lose jobs because Nigeria did not prepare but there will be less job losses in Russia and Saudi Arabia because they prepared, then going by your assertion, it's safe to say USA also did not prepare, hence the huge job losses being experienced there at the moment.

Despite America's preparation, they're still hit hard. So, cut naija some slack. Dont treat it in isolation. I know naija sucks but there are other countries that are worse. Naija and Russia aren't on the same level same way Naija and US aren't.
Job loss is happening all over the world, only that some countries would just feel the impacts more than others.

I rest my case.

Negative thinkers. So what do you want us to do? This is not only a Nigerian issue but a global one. We are already going thru a lot and you want to add to our sorrow. I thought after reading ur essay I will see some suggestions on how the job loss can be mitigated otherwise I don't see any value that you have added.

The US economy and the other economies are not structured in the same manner.

The US does not prepare her budget with oil price estimates. Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Russia does.

China can't take all the cake... Most nations including Nigeria had all the time to take precautionary measures, and implement containment protocols...

China can't equally take the blame for the carelessness of most nations. Even WHO didn't do enough!!!
You think it's that easy to close down international and local borders?

China has to explain how the virus came about in the first place. This cannot just slide.

How were they so quick to respond to it and other nations so slow since it was an unexpected pandemic. And why they couldn't contain in their country alone, so that it doesn't affect other "careless" nations.

I always know this will happen eventually one day.

A lot of people might begin to wonder why their certificates might not save them.
Some would be shocked that the skilful staff are taking over the office seats

This is the more reason why I am a big fan of building an online business and nurturing it with the best email monetizing strategy.
The money, they say, is in the list. Do you have a list? Do you?

I don't mean a list of friends who rotates who should have bottles of beer with you next week,
Neither do I mean a list of those who queue for pandemic relief from you (you can always do this when you make the money)

but those you can gather for promotional/business purposes.

na their hands your money dey... Seun has a list, Mark Zuckerberg has a list, so does Jeff (Amazon)
The list is very important. I think you should begin to build yours. Imagine promoting services or products to over 100,000 people, even if 1000 buys that product, you are far from depending on jobs that are no more...

Job losses are a major feature of recessions. This shouldn't come as a surprise.

However, there are things individuals can do to stay afloat during such trying times.

Learning to independently generate one's own funds is a skill many should learn. It will be tough for someone just starting out.
But it's better late than never!

I wish everyone out there the best!

Pay consultancy fee of $10 million and I will tell you what to do!

If people don't have solutions they should stay at home. If you decide to be a candidate for public office you should have solutions or know those you would have to pay for solutions.
