This woman was booked for CS on account of twin gestation and other issues. She had 3 scans done at the hospital. On the day of surgery she was prepped and wheeled in.

Surgery started, we opened her up, brought out the first child, then the conso was now looking for the second child. There was no second child.

That's how we called the husband into the theatre o, let him come and see for himself that there are no extra exit points in the theatre, we didn't steal the baby. We only found one child in the womb, not two.When the husband had confirmed for himself, we continued and closed her up.

My oga was pissed. I was beginning to wonder if it was wrong case note. We asked for all her scans. They all showed twin pregnancy, except the first scan at 8 weeks which showed signs of vanishing twin syndrome.

So it was likely that the other twin did vanish.

Never heard of vanishing twin syndrome. We learn everyday. I checked it out online and it is a confirmed medical phenomenon which can happen either early or late into pregnancy. In many cases, it goes undetected. Well done, funmisticqueen2, for providing some practical experience.
We don't know if this was the case with the woman from St. Raphael though. Time will tell.

My experience with that same hospital was not a palatable one with there ill trained staffs at the HMO Office...

Very unprofessional set of people.

That hospital is a death trap for any Nigeria... I have my horrible experience in that hospital and am ready to testify against them in court...If ur not ready to be robbed and deliver ur baby Tru CS stay away from St Rapheal

Hhhmmm... scan dey fail o, we know. But the part that got me is where she said "she was given a sleeping injection".

I've had 2 vaginal deliveries and I know a few persons who have had CS. YOU SHOULD NEVER PUT A WOMAN ABOUT TO BE DELIVERED OF A CHILD TO SLEEP.

In the case of CS, the injection given is to numb the waist region downwards. In fact through out the procedure the anaesthetist must engage the patient in a conversation, so she doesn't sleep off.

Immediately after delivery (vaginal & CS ) the baby is held up for the mother to see and you'll be asked to say out the sex of the child, after which baby is taken for clean up and all.

I don't know anything about the said hospital, but the issue of "sleeping injection" raises eyebrows.

This is simple. If scan said it was twins and the hospital didn't offer any explanation on why one baby was delivered then it's a matter that should see the Court room. Who knows something is fishy about that hospital.
