U obviously don't live is lagos....there is no way any one will get to work and get home by 8pm.....even if u ask ur staff to close by 4pm or 3pm...transporter will increase t-fare beyond what commuters can afford knowing thier desperation to get home...bus stops will be the next epidemic center. Awon werey

Baba Buhari I think these people are not okay with the curfew.

You know you give pick two, pick two, now hold on. Maybe after the Hold On you can give us General market.

Seems some people are educated with no common sense of reasoning.

Lockdown you are complaining
Curfew you are still complaining.

Mind you I don't pray this but if the Virus later kills thousands of people in the country you will still come back to blame the Government for it.

People will always be people no matter what.

Just listen to them and move on. Because you can't satisfy them.

Curfew is worst than none cause before 6pm everywhere will be crowded with the hope of meeting up with time. Overcrowding will even help spread the virus.

But without lockdown, one can choose when to go home to avoid mixing up with excess crowd.

Just wait till next week you would understand.

Same question I asked.

What is the point of curfew in Lagos between 8pm-6am?

If that is not daft, then I don’t know what is.

Will the virus hibernate during that time window? How will workers get home? Will the police now start harassing people going home at 9pm?

Questions, questions, questions, without answers from a recorded speech.

Everyone has to close earlier.

The curfew might be necessary to clean and disinfect general places before the next day.

Everything is not about human right, common sense can prevail at times.

Not all businesses would be allowed to open yet.

I am sure Government workers and schools are still closed. The time is also 9 - 6 meaning that no office will expect u to get to the office before 9.

In the speech, Buhari also made it clear that each state will handle their peculiar issues accordingly.

Cut him some slack. At least he did not advise citizens to drink disinfectants like the most powerful man in the world did. (Yes, plenty morons drank it in USA)

Things are not yet normal and should be seen that way for now.

How can government offices remain non functional?
Who will collect revenue for the government, or you think they have other means of funding?

They will not be functional for now.

That is the reality. What revenue are they collecting ? Must the revenue be paid in cash ?

Now can you now explain how a curfew can work in lagos, you said we should be objective critics now please just explain how the cufew will work in Lagos State?

I'm sure the govt came up with this curfew idea as a result of too much pressure to lift the lockdown. Same people are the ones criticizing it now.

I'm not in support of the curfew cause obviously it can't work. We are fighting an unseen enemy who is neither hiding or resting. If truly we want to fight this, what I'm in total support of is Lockdown. Let us all stay at home, until we have a cure or vaccine.

How many people have they fed since the lockdown?
Iamgrey5:
The main focus of the government in relaxing the lock down is to allow those earning daily wages earn something

The government has come to realize that they can't feed all the poor people in Nigeria forever.

As for the curfew, state government would still modify the directives for their states peculiarities. For example, Lagos would likely require markets, banks and businesses to close at 2 PM. They would also likely still have days for total lock down

As for public transport, I think the government would limit the number of passengers in Danfo and Brt to 2 people per seats and increase transport fare by almost 100%. I think that would also discourage people from going out except when absolutely necessary.

It would be difficult, but as English men often say, "You can't eat your cake and have it"

Remember this, uneasy is the head that wears the crown. Not all the time you must oppose, and if you want to do, do it objectively.

It is always good and refreshing to know that we still have reasonable and sensible people like you on this forum.
Anyone with Common sense will know what you type is nothing but the truth!
But unfortunately, very dull and stupid people abound more than reasonable members here.
That is why the sensible ones rather chose to read and pass without commenting, so to prevent some fools from contaminating them.
Thumbs up to you and the few reasonable and sensible members of this forum.
It is well.

What useless economy is the lawyer talking about ? An economy that is practically 100% dependent on oil price will not listen to English or Law terminologies. Even better prepared countries are technically in recession. There is no miracle anybody can perform on Nigeria economy right now.

What Buhari is simply telling you is not to use African time to move.

Now as for the time. Buhari is saying legitimate businesses are permited to operate during the period of Semi lockdown however, social gathering at night cuz that's when the shit gets ugly.
Clubbing, touching, kissing, yashing, getting drunk and vomiting everywhere with infested covid19 vomit. I can go on. Stupid shit happen at night that even the participants might not be able to fully recount the next day.

You have made a very good and solid point.

A curfew makes night time entertainment illegal. Some of these activities increase the spread of the disease. A few days ago about 39 people were caught in a small strip bar - obviously not maintaining social distance.

Thank you so much for this, I hope people can be enlighten such that they know that the situation is a No Win for the government... If the lockdown isnt relax, you will hear people screaming of hunger. Now that the lockdown is relax people are saying the government is more concern about Economy and not the life of its citizens. Either ways the government still got the blame

I guessed you did not listen to the president speech and you just rushed out to say gibberish for emphasis. The President speech is just a guiding path on the way the easing of lockdown should go. It's now left to the Lagos State government to work out modalities on what works perfectly for Lagos which the president did clarified in his speech that "State government may choose to amend, adapt and expand based on thier unique circumstances".......

Elites should free this man abeg, he already said States should tailor the measures according to their peculiarities but follow the guidelines.

as per economic response.... I don't believe any response on his address is enough, this is a country with myriads of problems and sabotaged by corrupt politician

so is better we press him for transparency on the steps taken not what are the steps

if he didn't take any steps then we know we are on auto pilot- after all nothing is planned in this country except looting of pub funds

so Mr Onagoruwa, what we need right now is to pray for a complete Wipeout of these miscreants in government

asking them what they have for us is like asking for snow in the sahel,

expect nothing!!!

We are witnessing a trying period.
Buhari speech is more of protocol than being the framework for the nation.
Take what is available in the speech, add what you think should be done and make a decision.
The convid 19 economic committee are expected to deliver on their mandate.
The state governments are also being expected to make decisions
We shall overcome
