Tell your relative to declare the package as gift, and if possible put a bold sticker on the package: GIFT, NOT TO BE SOLD. It may help you avoid tax, hopefully the phone is not an iPhone. Those NCS guys have a thing for Apple phone. Once they see one, they love to slam some heavy tax on it. You may get lucky, declaring the package as gift may give you a free pass, but if not, consider the tax slammed on it as the payment you made for getting the phone.

you can ask your relative to underdeclare the worth of the phone and state as phone part or gifts, but if customs do a thorough check on it, you will still need to pay tax unless you are lucky

Yeah it happens most times. Their buyer protection period is now 90days as against 60 days.

Please houz the person I gave money to buy phone for me from aliexpress is telling me tht the tracking number ended in Lagos tht the federal civil servants aren't working now for them to FOWARD the parcel to anambra till further notice and I just call one of my neighbors in Lagos wch I highly respect but I don't kW if he is a federal civil servant or not but he ask me to bring the shipping carrier and number to get info concerning the good of wch we can't get the shipping number we only access to the tracking number am just confuse these phone have been ordered since Feb 19 and the buyer protection is been extended

Of course the person sending has already paid custom over there, your country will decide if you pay too. But seeing that the phone is not an Apple product, then you stand a better chance of not paying any custom duties.

He said tht i should nt worry tht the phone is in Lagos tht i will get it after the lockdown and i belive the buyer protection is still active coz i havea asked him to do tht weeks ago and he is not a newbie in aliexpress he has brought some series if laptops from there.......
