Gargoylesmiles:its just the mormal debian start up. The PC only boots from the SATA 1 connector |
Re: Ubuntu Linux by Gargoylesmiles(m): 3:54pm On May 01, 2020 |
purplekayc: I know it only boots from SATA1 but it should capture both OS in the PC exvept you wiped out Windows during the installation of the Linux OS |

Re: Ubuntu Linux by Gargoylesmiles(m): 4:09pm On May 01, 2020 |
purplekayc: I know you are talking about 2 HDDs. DO you have a partition manager in your Linux distro to verify if your Win OS still exist? |
Re: Ubuntu Linux by purplekayc(m): 4:13pm On May 01, 2020 |
Gargoylesmiles:i installed grub during the installation process |
Re: Ubuntu Linux by Gargoylesmiles(m): 11:59pm On May 01, 2020 |
purplekayc: Then if MS Win was in that PC when you were installing the Linux OS, grub would have detected MS Win and give you an option to boot into it on start up. Is that not the case? |
Re: Ubuntu Linux by purplekayc(m): 8:42am On May 02, 2020 |
Gargoylesmiles:. Actually, the windows hdd wasn't connected when I installed Linux, I installed them separately. |
Re: Ubuntu Linux by Gargoylesmiles(m): 6:51pm On May 02, 2020 |
purplekayc: That right there is your issue my friend. I think there is so solution though. You need to make sure both are plugged in. Boot into Linux and run grub. You need to scan the entire system with grub to find all OS, that way grub can discover Windows. |

Saw this quote in an article: "The Plasma desktop environment has, without Akonadi, become just as light in resource usage as Xfce, perhaps even lighter." Pretty surprised. Haven't tried KDE in many years. My interest is piqued Is there anyone here who runs KDE at present? would you agree with this claim? |

AshipaEk0: I cant say I have done this comparison to know if KDE is as light as xfce but I can say using KDE Neon for close to a year now has been a smooth experience and yes it feels light on the system. Give any KDE distro a try and see for yourself. |

I need first hand views on running guest OSes in Virtual Box Is this a feasible idea these days? Last i tried Virtualbox a few years ago, the performance was too poor, especially graphics wise. couldn't run any sort of games in a VM for instance, no matter how much resources was available to the VM |
