Thank you sir for the time taken to attend to my question.
To your question Sir.
I have a very strong passion for nursing.
I have checked the nursing forum, but due to the lockdown, there no relevant informations as regards admission.

Am planning to take two forms. One from luth and the other from Nacon. I will settle with whichsoever one that comes first.
I started my preparations though
Don't ever think you are too old at 25. Many people older than you are in my class, some upto 40years old.
If utme isn't forthcoming, try SON. Choose the ones you know would be fair with admission. Many of them admit more than required and end up withdrawing almost everyone.

Sir, I have purchased SON form for LUTH, and I don't know how there exam will be like. Besides, they are no past questions to that regard.

Please, with your experience, can you tell me how I can go about my preparations for the exam.

Asking for a friend
She has biology and maths
No chemistry or physics

I doubt how feasible it is with such result. Well, my advice is that: let her go to idi araba herself and ask if olevel is a necessity. I'm only an aspirant, there is a limit to my knowledge to that regard.

But all I know is, passing the entrance exam is more important.

Lol. I know that already, I have a cousin there that have explained in detail all i need to know.
Well, am going after LUTH first, and using NACON as backup.

All that matters is the certificate. I'm damn tired of this country.

School of health is not school of nursing and its very wrong to say that university nursing is administrative while the other is practical nursing.

The truth is both learn the same thing however, the scope of learning in university is wider and incorporate extensive learning from other associated areas such as psychology, microbiology, biochemistry etc.

Please encourage the young girl to go through the university.

OJURONGBE1:

Its been long I read something this smooth on Nairaland. Kudos sir .
Here comes my question :how do you write so well , is it an inbuilt ability or you got this from years of consistent reading and practising ?
I find it hard sometimes to convey my thoughts into words . There are times i write and I feel ashamed of myself because my words were badly put together.

Another question I would love your opinion on is: I have a 15 yr old cousin who's torn between studying medicine and Nursing ,but as it is, her 220 UTME score won't get her an invite for UI Post UTME, so i urged her to try science lab tech at Yabatech, get good grades in her forthcoming WAEC Exam and prepare well for next year.
You might ask me why i am asking this question on her behalf ,well ,she's someone I took interest in ever since she lost her Dad when she was 8 .
How a young girl would be so interested in her future amazes me .Each time I visit them, she always ask me to buy her books, share with me her term results laced with distinctions and how chemistry bores her but her lowest grade was 71.
I have been trying in my little way to expose her on her dream course , got few text books , have her watch Grey Anatomy etc to gear her up but there's a limit to what I can do at the moment because of the financial implications .
So, how good is a Nursing degree obtained from the university compared to school of Nursing?
My Aunt attended Ogun state school of health (Nursing major) and i kid you not, she's extremely good.
She once told me Nursing degrees are more of administrative nursing while school of health deals more with practicals.

After signing the papers, I got the keys to the flat It is a two-bedroom flat, with a single entrance, one of my reservations about the flat but there is no debarring iron on the window so I was not too worried.
I used the next time off to clean the rooms, the kitchen and the bathroom. I repainted the inner part of the wardrobe, I wanted to use wallpaper for the wardrobe but changed my mind, painting is more easier and cheaper. The carpet rug was just placed the previous month so it was very easy to clean without a hoover. I took pictures of all the spaces, I noticed some faults that were not covered in the pictures submitted by the letting agency. I looked for the water meter everywhere but could not find any. I took the gas meter reading. I sent the faults that i noted to the land lord and the letting agency to update the moving in pictures.
The next day I began packing my properties from the shared apartment. I knew it was not going to be easy but I never knew it was going to be super-hectic. I packed the luggage together and transfer them on four flights of stairs to the basement behind our fob controlled main entrance door, it took more than one hour to do this. After that I called a taxi, a minivan. I gave him the post code of the new place, I took time to sit and rest as he loaded the van. He unloaded again after we got the new apartment and I gave him the £15 that he charged. In hindsight I could have hired a man and van for £30 who could have transferred the loads to downstairs, loaded the van and unload and transfer into the new flats. I was penny wise pound foolish. I began transferring the loads on another four flights of stairs. I just dumped the loads somewhere, too tired to unpack. I went out later to get something for dinner. At the end of the day, I clocked 30,000 footsteps.
I woke up with aches the next day, but I had to got to work, thank goodness I separated my uniform while packing, otherwise I would have just worn the wrinkled uniform to work. The day was uneventful as desired. The hardest part of the day was walking back home after alighting from the bus on Brook road, climbing the ridgeway road was like hiking on Everest.
I was woken up the next day by the neighbor, there he was with his family members. He said he wanted to welcome me before he goes to work. He introduced his wife and two children and I introduced myself, what I do and where I am working. He is a Pakistani who has been living in the opposite flat for over 15 years. He drives taxi within the town. I used the opportunity to ask him about the electrical meters, he said the meters are together in the electrical room. He reached for his pocket and brought out bunch of keys and he removed one saying it is the key to the electrical room, I could copy it if I want and return his later.
I went to the city center to buy a glass central table and dining table set at the British red cross, I visited EE to sign an eighteen-month contract for broadband, then joined Bus 400 to Crawley’s County mall, I went to the Chairs and settee that I got at the other shops are too expensive so I went to the Sofa Club shop. I was able to get a new set of three and two fabric seaters for `£400 delivery fee inclusive. Later in the evening on the same day, I visited bed.co the online bed shop to buy beds and mattresses. I totally forgot about the key that I needed to copy so I knocked on my neighbor's door to explain to him, he said I can keep the key till when I have finished using it. He told me of the trash collection days. The building have a drop hole for those of us on the second floor without moving downstairs, it is a tube built parallel to the stairs that we can use to drop our trash.
I went back to Crawley Curry PC world the following week, to buy home appliances, I could have used Argos but I do not trust the quality of items in Argos. I was able to buy television, television stand, Microwave oven and electric pressure cooker.

In the first week of June, I came back from work, one evening and I sat down with my laptop to start making the visa applications for my family, it takes time but I finished making the applications in same night and paid with my Nigerian card, the problem was that could not get a near date for the submission of the documents.. The application was made in the first week of June but the nearest date available was 27th of June. No option, we have to wait.
I told my wife to start buying things, foodstuff and packing up as there will be little or no time after the Visa comes out. I had no doubt in mind that they will be granted the visa as applied. She kept herself busy to distract from the long wait and I poured myself to work.
My trust increased the bank rate for staff members to encourage them to do extra shift, so most nurses that have been going outside to work extra shifts decide to work within the hospital. It benefits the trust in that, they now spend less than what they will pay for agency staff and they are assured of the quality of care being rendered in all shifts, whether regular or bank.
Shifts in the hospital is either the normal statutory hours called regular shifts or extra duty during time off called bank shifts. For most nurses, the regular shifts is 3 long days or nights, which could run concurrently or staggered during the week, outside of this regular hours, you can book extra shifts which should not be more than 20hours per week according to tier 2 visa restriction.
If a particular shift is not covered, the hospital will have to call on agencies to supply nurses to cover such shifts and the rate paid to such agency is far higher than what will be paid to both regular and bank staff. So in the hospital, you will have regular nurses, Bank nurses, and Agency nurses. Agency nurses earn the highest because they are paid by their different agencies, followed by regular bank staff, then the regular nurses. Each category of staff has its own peculiarity and risks.
Generally the weather was becoming warmer, and if you go to the town center, you meet a lot of crowd sitting out in the sun just enjoying and soaking it in, sometimes you would wonder, where are all these people being all this while, hibernating?.
During the course of the month, I got a mail from the energy provider that the letting agency has furnished them with my details and I have been registered into their database, so I called to give them the initial meter reading for the gas and electricity. I was offered to pay the bills with direct debit, this way, the bill is fixed at a particular amount all through the tenancy ir-respective of the meter reading. I declined, that I would want to pay for exactly what I use. The water company also made contact for me to supply the first meter reading, I looked around again for the meter but could not find any both within and outside. I called the company, it was decided that they would send an engineer to help look for the meter. The engineer came and looked everywhere but could not found anything. On his way out he told me that I should tell the company to reduce my water bill after the first bill because I was not provided any meter and the flat is un-meterable due to no fault of mine. I put the information in my left pocket that I rarely use, if I put it in my left hand , alcohol gel will wipe it off.
Coming back home after a long hours of grueling work and climbing up on the hill is another herculean tasks but the consolation is that it will strengthen my heart (like having a cardio mode on the treadmill) also strengthen my back and leg muscles which will be useful in the ‘family business’. There are many new nurses in the trust that are recruited from India, the Philippines, and Africa..

Two sets of professionals that i respect more at this trying moment in history are the teachers and writers/content creators.

Teachers, because i have to do a bit of teaching at home, after two hours, the children will ask if they can go for a break. Break for what? grin

Writers/ content creators, with this project that i have started i now know it is not easy to recreate thoughts into words and vivid images. Back in the school days, i and my colleagues labelled some writers as hungry authors, but i know better now.

# A LITTLE DIGRESSION.
