Japan plans to ship the anti-flu drug Avigan to 43 countries after its holiday period ends this Wednesday. The drug is seen as a potential treatment for people infected with the coronavirus.

Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu said on Friday that nearly 80 countries have requested free supplies of Avigan, which was developed by a Japanese company.

He said the first batches will be delivered to the 43 countries through a UN organization. Recipient countries will then send clinical trial data to Japan.

Motegi said taming the pandemic will require the development of effective remedies in the short term. He said there are hopes that Avigan will serve as an early-stage treatment for the coronavirus.

Motegi added that Japan will press ahead with public-private partnerships and international cooperation in the search for curative drugs.

Drug can’t make the world go back to normal only vaccine because they thing has to to network , everywhere you go . You use drug and cure it doesn’t guarantee u can’t have it again and spreed it so I pray there’s a vaccine soon

People are living with other deadly viruses like HIV, Hepatitis.... And the world was normal

There is no vaccine for malaria and co

If there is a drug that can cure this virus, it's a welcome development, death rate will reduce, no more lockdown, free movement, people going to work places, sports is back....

Then whenever or if ever the vaccine is produced, the world still goes on.
For now almost everyone globally is on hold.

Without the vaccine they will always be cases , this virus is not malaria or hiv . U can’t contact this 2 virus by touching or having close contact but u can contact this virus by breathing a droplet of an infected person when they sneeze or cough and it’s contagious it can stay in the air or iron for many minutes so drug is temporary.
