I am not a civil servant just analysing the obvious so many will be prepared and not meet them as a shock, hope for the best while preparing for the worst. It's when there is sufficient internally generated revenue or profit from sale of crude oil that ensures the continuous payment of civil servants. And when there is no money to go round (which we don't pray so) your rights to fight for payment of your salary becomes useless. The only federal parastatals that might likely to survive would be those generating revenue (if the political class don't divert the proceeds to pay for their allowances. )
[/s]

This only happens and will only happen in your imagination. Go find out about civil service and it's ethics before you deceive gullible people with your wild imagination.

The employment law stipulates that workers are to be paid their wages - daily, weekly, monthly as agreed on the contract of employment as long as it remains valid. Hence, as long as you remain an employee and have not been subject to termination of employment contract or dismissal, your employer is required to pay your wages. Nevertheless, some businesses have been adversely impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic and they are cushioning the effect by using either one of these two possible options, or both at their disposal:

1. Reduction of salaries: The Nigerian Labour Act permits the deduction of workers' wages by an employer albeit with prior written consent. However, all deductions in any month should not exceed one-third of the monthly wages. In the case of non-workers, certain clauses within their contracts of employments give employers the right to reduce wages on notice especially in situations where operations are below optimal levels. This is the method chosen by some employers during this Coronavirus pandemic to balance both the interests of the company and that of its employees.

2. Termination of contract of employment or Dismissal: Employers are allowed to dismiss or terminate the contract of employment of its employees after serving the appropriate notice. The duration of this notice ranges from one day to one month in the Nigerian Labour Act, depending on the length of service or as agreed in the employment contract. There is a difference between termination of contract of employment and dismissal; dismissal is the termination of contract of employment "for cause" and the grounds for cause include any form of wrong doing by the employee such as non-adherence to the terms of an employment contract.

On the other hand, termination of contract of employment occurs due to reasons other than an employee's wrong doing and subject to terms of the contract. An example is the termination of employees' contracts due to the company's inability to meet its financial obligations. However, if an employee's contract of employment is terminated, the employer is mandated to pay the outstanding salary and other entitlements (compensation, allowances, reimbursements) owed to the employee for the period up to the contract termination date, as agreed in the contract of employment.

You work in a good company. My own already inform us that we are all on SUSPENSION till further notice.
My bro stays with me and you know what his company did, they contributed 1 billion naira to the Covid fund and they told all staff to go home and NOT expect anything this month. That 1 billion will pay all their salaries for 6 month. My wife is a Lagos civil servant, we all waiting for her April alert, hopefully. To run a biz is tough, very very tough but some CEO are very very heartless. Some company can still manage to work out some Palliative for their staff, not necessarily Full salary but they will Never Do It. Here, most Nigerian bosses hardly care. Some private org can afford to pay but will never pay. Some can't afford but will still try and work out palliative. We have a maiguard that just open and close gate for us, a building of 4 flat. Two flat already suggested we cut his salary but I stood my ground. Not because I love d aboki more than others but because I know all of us can still Manage to pay him his Full salary for at least 3 month assuming this lockdown continues. The story might change for him after three month but I would have satisfied my conscience at least. Let's the strong always assist d weak, let's love lead.
Just to add, my wife, a Lagos civil servant got paid her full salary yesterday.. Thanks to Jehovah and to LASG.

Be there insulting yourself thinking you insulting me because I refused your imagination. Creating unnecessary panic where there's none.

Oil price will affect civil servants' salary my big bumbum. If you have no idea of something stay humble to know instead of being shallow and insulting.
