After reading this thread in it's entirety, I can state that OP has done nothing but inspire people by showing that hardwork still pays and that there is hope for them. But the naysayers won't let the man be. From 2018 till now, he has not in any way solicited for funds from anybody, yet some people come with all sort ofname-calling and insults which they term "constructive criticism". There's nothing to be criticized here. what OP is doing is for himself and his family. If U can make sense of it and learn something useful, then U are wise, but if U can't, then it's ur cup of tea.

If you meet any agent that "assures" you, please run.

Only Visa officers guarantee visa.

I stopped responding to your comments Babyvet, cos you actually do not give constructive critism, you insult a lot. You called me a phoney, a liar,
and other obscene words, and you don't even know me. Someone at the beginning of this thread said that i would soon start contacting people for business from this thread, and its over 2 years now, if i have contacted anyone, pls let them tell us. My new goal was to save 15k by the 10 of July, i am upping that to 20k by the end of July. I am doing this cos my wife decided to take up 70% of our rent which is about $800, and i am already at $4200 in my savings as of end of April. I started the savings on the 10th of April. This is the last year i wanna work so much hours. After this year, and i can save what i want to save, it will be time to invest. And if i can save the $20k by the end of July, God willing i will go for another 20k before the end of the year. This will also be my last year working as a Security guard. I will be moving on to Cybersecurity. Those who want to be inspired can be, and those who chose to be negative, well, God bless. Life is too precious, to waste on negativity, its not like anyone of us are going to get out of life alive anyway.

Hey bro, please give me some tips so I can up my game working as a security guard too.I just got my security guard licence and resumed working as a guard immediately.I would like some tips so I can very well on the job. Thanks

Absolutely unrealistic. Most people here give false information to people back home. Do I believe the 100k stuff..... absolutely NO but I am not here to argue with these young fellows.

I know the savings is unrealistic too because how many people can even save even 10k with that kind of salary

I saved 19,000 Canadian Dollars in 8 months working minimum wage jobs, before gladfully I got out of minimum wage jobs. But that's not the point. The point here is that even if you work 80 hours weekly, 7 days a week for one year, which is kinda impossible cause body no be wood, at the rate of $16, you WILL NOT make 100,000 that year. Let's do the maths. 80 hours (1 week) times16 dollars is1,280 dollars. Times that by 52 week. That is 66,560, mind you that is before taxes. To the OP of this thread, I get that you want to motivate people and honestly I've devoted my spare time to reading your thread believing in you until I saw the crap about making 100,000 in a year. Please don't come here exaggerating big figures; I hope you were exaggerating, other wise you just think the people on Nairaland are stupid cause we are Nigerians.

Your maths though. You have assumed the rate of $16 for 80 hours week. Depending on organization and whether staff is monthly or hourly, an hour above regular hours could be a time and half. Double time if a statutory holiday. Let's assume security (hourly staff) or most 12 hours per shift jobs are 48 hours per week as they usually work 4days on and 3 days off. That would mean regular hours ($16*48) + Overtime hours ($16*1.5*(80-48)) = weekly wage.

I believe OP made 100k as he posted his tax return, but he must have worked a crazy number of hours, including OTs and stats to achieve that figure. The savings is where it's abit grey. Making 100k a year is different from saving the amount he targeted a year. i.e. target of 120k savings within 2 years I believe. To be honest, op's savings target is very high and would be very hard to achieve even if OT hours were not cut. Not much is usually left to save after taxes, deductions, bills and expenses.

OP assumed he would continue to work several hours. Overtime hours are often capped by organizations. He actually later admitted in the thread that the company had cut hours, and the target was no longer realistic. This is the same reason why banks and other credit agencies usually consider only wages/income stated on job contract letter and would often ignore OT hours when granting credits like mortgages, loans, LOC etc. OT hours are not guaranteed.
