You said it like it is. I had a savings target, i couldnt make it because my hours were cut. But you know something, i think the main reason i couldnt make much last year was also because i had to relocate provinces to go to school. Last year i worked only till july and then december and i still made 51k. Now i didnt say i saved 51k, i said i made. My wife made 22k just working till july last year too. (we worked in the same company). Now supposing i didnt have to stop work and go to school, there would have been a possibility that i would have actually made up to 90k last year and adding my wife's income, we would have comfortably surpassed 100k last year. My overtime hours were cut at my main job last year, but i got another job working security for the Jewish congregation, that was how i was able to still make 51k in 7 months.Like i always say, and will always say, it is possible. Now as for saving 20k in 3 months, i will do it. I didn't say i will make, I will save 20k by the end of July. God willing. salford1: 9 Likes

atutupoyoyo2211:Welldone. You do not even need to show your tax returns. There would always be naysayers whatever you do. Just keep on setting your targets and focus on achieving it..Once you are done with your IT program, the savings would also become easier to achieve in a shorter time. SlowlybtSurely:Risk mitigation. Banks would want the employer to state in writing that the OT hours are guaranteed and will also continue, but what employer would be willing to do that, especially if it's a structured organization. When I applied, the bank won't even consider a fixed yearly bonus I receive from work. They only went by the contract and a letter from work stating my basic yearly income. It's actually a good thing as it also protects the borrower from biting more than he/she can chew. 1 Like |

salford1:I would not recommend this job or any driving job for that matter to anyone, unless you are driving just in the summer. Driving any other time is not safe cause of slippery roads during bad weather. Money is good but not at the expense of risking my life (look up statistics on car accidents and related deaths). Unless I'm driving to work (which is scary cause your car can just step on black ice from no where and bam you are lucky if you lose just the car and not your life), I am not driving. I live 8 minutes walk away from one job so I take the bus. The other job which is half hour drive away, I drive cause I have no choice (buses don't go there). My point is, find another job that would pay you rather than risking your life every day on the road. |

atutupoyoyo2211: salford1: Always. Well done to the OP; your resilience to the numerous doubters and attacks is admirable. Keep doing you, share whatever info you want to share as a guide to others. You don't need to prove anything to anyone. Like we say in Naija, ''Who no go, no know". Firsthand experience usually trumps any other. |

Nnamz:Grocery stores need to replenish their stocks, posts needs to get delivered, equipment needs to be transported from coast to coast etc. Somebody's got to do it. I believe delivery drivers minimize their risk by being in the know of weather and road conditions. Every job as it's own risks. To some it's working in an high voltage environment (I use to do this and driving was the least of my worries despite hitting black ice twice in my official F150 ford, one of which I ended in the ditch). Some work in an infectious disease, ICU or emergency units in hospitals, even policemen, law enforcements, factory workers etc all have risks etc. Those who take on trucking/delivery jobs must have given the idea a good thought as well. I can't really speak for them. 11 Likes |

Although I dont live in canada, no menial work at 18$ per hour can give someone $100,000 in a year even if the person is working 13 hours per day. I dont understand this thread from begning to end. You guys in canada are not telling the reality of the situation there. 3 Likes 1 Share |

What advice would you give to someone coming to Canada on Masters program with school fees and rent settled with extra 35,000 Canadian dollars? Is it possible to do biz with that money in Canada? |
Re: My Monthly Savings In Canada by SlowlybtSurely: 12:35am On May 11, 2020 |
Luckybelt: A 2 bedroom condo in downtown Toronto will be between $2,800 to $4,000 per month, depending on available facilities. It's cheaper in other cities except Vancouver which is comparable to Toronto. |
