Good dribbler, insane stamina and very versatile.
Unfortunately, he's become a victim of his versatility.

Adelakun Was The One Doing All The Job Looking For Players' - Nigeria Great Odegbami Blasts Rohr

In a no-holds-barred interview with Nigerian television station Plus TV Africa monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, legendary Nigeria winger Segun Odegbami strongly criticized the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation to give a new contract to Gernot Rohr.

The Franco-German football tactician is on the verge of inking a new deal with the NFF amidst all the conditions laid out in the proposed deal, including living in Nigeria to monitor potential Super Eagles players in the domestic championship and being paid in the local currency.

"I don't know about the plot to send him packing, I have been an advocate of the end of foreign coaches in Nigerian football and I stand by that," said Odegbami.

"It is very insensitive of people at this time in our history considering where we are now with the coronavirus opening our eyes to the new realities of the world for us to continue to go back to something that has failed us."

The highlight of Odegbami's interview was when he revealed that English-based scout of Nigerian descent, Tunde Adelakun was the one doing most of the job assigned to Rohr.

Adelakun has often been sighted at English Premier League match venues monitoring players of Nigerian descent with a view to a call-up to the national team.

"Gernot Rohr didn't succeed, he took all that money, didn't spend his time in this country.

"A black young Nigerian man, Tunde Adelakun was the one doing all the job, combing the whole of Europe to look for players and all Gernot Rohr was doing was spending few days to assemble players and play matches.

"Besides that his scoreline is not anything that Nigerians have not done before so we must put an end to this slavery and colonial mentality," Odegbami added.

The 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winner concluded by saying that an indigenous coach should be in charge of the Super Eagles

"Nigerians at this point have to look inwards, everything around us shows that these people out there don't love us so they can't love our country more than us.

"We have Nigerians who can do the job, they have always done the job and they can still do the job.

"Gernot Rohr, we have no business discussing with him, his contract expires in June, he should just go quietly."

Lol.
Is the said Tunde Adelakun doing the job for free?
Is Rohr not paying him?
I mean, what's wrong in identifying a talented hand that can assist one in a task?
Can Rohr do it alone?
Odegbami should calm down abeg

Odegbami is one of the biggest morons i've ever come across.

I guess we should listen to him and give Yobo the job and automatically become the hybrid of France/Brazil/Liverpool/Man city that Rohr has been preventing us from attaining.

Not a rumour, he actually wanted to play for us, later. We only approached him once under Vogts. Never approached by Keshi.

Thanks for the info. What do you think about Obasi's claim? Besides the interviewer missed the opportunity to ask him who asked for the bribe

The problem with those old men is that they are not living with the times. Several non African nations have had foreign coaches. If he is saying we should not recruit them just because they are white, he is very much on point. Our recruitment must be strategic, not tubu mess am.

Tell him to name a local based coach that'll do better than Rohr at the moment and see who he'll say.

I'm always pained when old men set themselves up for insults.

Thesedays, anytime I see Odegbami's name, I'm prepared to read the words of a bitter, old man with unnecessary beef. I imagine Rohr reading his bitter leaf-tainted words while sipping on a glass of juice, then shrugging his shoulders and scrolling to more important news.

Journalists have got to be subtly trolling Odegbami, to keep allowing him wail up and down like this undecided

He can't mention names if he doesn't have evidence to back up his claim in a competent court of law when sue to court for character defamation and slandering and made to use all his money to pay for damages. That's why he can't mention names because we are so sure he doesn't have even a recorded evidence...though the whole world knows what he said is the truth. Where did you get that from.

This boy now man is a Liverpool born black i.e. LBB an A typical scouser.

By the way he knows his Dad very well he is a mixed race ( half-cast) and unfortunately a dead beat alcoholic.

Liverpool has a very deep historical relationship with the Nigerian south. In my estimation 65% of all mixed race children have Nigerian fathers.

So if you have anybody that worked for the old NNSL and had been in Liverpool it's likely he has some forgotten children. Years ago l nearly started an NGO to link the lost children to thier Nigerian Fathers. I had and have and still do link quite a few of them to thier Nigerian fathers.

I find it rather strange the large number of mixed race babies our Nigerian men were able to produce in Europe and America in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

How were they finding it so easy to get white women to date despite the heavily racist nature of Oyibo land in those days?. And most of those men were students, and struggling young men. So, we can't say the white women loved them for their money. What exactly made them attractive to white women?. Could it be that the women just wanted to taste something different (as black men were rather rare in Europe back then and were considered to be strange objects of curiosity)?.....or are the rumors about white women's love for black men's di.cks true?. grin.

Komekn, Tbaba1234, Mujtahida, and all abroadians in the house I would especially love to hear your opinions on this please.

Then they should stop telling us what they can't back up with evidence. My advice to the current players or intending ones is to start recording every call they get from anyone from the glass house if truly they don't want drama or be held for ransom.

The more people come up with this kind of statement without evidence, the more we end up without putting an end to it.

The way corrupt elements are brought to book in saner climes is just because their system is fair and equal but that most individuals take responsibility for what happens to them and most won't let you cheat them without getting you exposed/punished.

They should start having evidence, else this will remain a reoccuring decimal.

Then, why tell us if you know it won't leave the "interview" stage?

We need to start wising up, get evidence since they know it's becoming normal here.

If you are not cool with stuffs like this, set them up and start getting them punished!

There was a great counterculture movement that developed in Europe and America during the 1960s. It is often called the hippies movement. Generally it was just a rebellion against the standards of society and protests against established norms. The vegan movement, feminism, gay sex and sexual freedom, drug experimentation and legalization, anti-war and pacifist movements, civil rights movement, make love not war music by John lennon, music of rebellion by the great rock bands including our own fela and his british wife etc all blossomed during the 60s and 70s. Students were in the trenches and forefront of such movements and what better way to eschew and spit on societal norms than to join your blood and heritage with a forbidden and spurned race.

And many of our men then were quite exceptional, remember it was the best of us that were sent abroad and such brilliance, courage and resilience would always be admired..and of course there is that curiosity of checking out if all the centuries old rumors of the prowess of the black men in bed.

So quite a number of factors came to play I guess.

Nigerian players are skilled BUT TECHNICALLY DEFICIENT AND THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. Nigerians play football with their raw skills alone. Ahmed musa is fast and mobile but his crosses are not accurate. Pius ikedua is skillfull but lacks vision. Egwueke (who played under keshi) was strong and tall but could not mark or pass well and had bad positioning etc
Most of our talented players are badly coached. The average nigerian coach is outdated and lacks knowledge of the modern game.
We need to arrange tutorials for all our coaches. Our coaches need massive reorientation for our football to develop
We need a new generation of tactically sound nigerian coaches who can turn a skillfull ball jugler into eden hazard.
This is what is missing.
The foreign born players are simply under better coaches and career managers and that is all.
In fact Ibrahimovic was just a dribbler until he went to ac milan and a coach transformed him yo a gial scoring machine.
This issue needs to be addressed
