[quote author=ArcUgo post=89042864]Hi everyone, please I'm looking to make contact with anyone who has information on Brandon Manitoba. Would appreciate any advice I can get on Jobs, housing and school for the kids. Also the viability of relocating in these trying times I.e covid-19. Thanks

@ArcUgo, my suggestion would be to move to Saskatchewan IF your family member's NOC is not list in their excluded occupation list and their work experience align with their degree.Kindly check their site for more information. They conduct regular draws and a family member in the province guarantees additional 20 points.

However, a post was made some days ago stating that their draws would be conducted once every two months.

As stated earlier, kindly weigh your options very well before moving out of your comfort zone to Manitoba in Hope of their PNP. The family connection route draws had not been held since early last year. Although, some person's sent them mails to confirm if the route had been stopped but they responded by saying, it will be continued soon.

Therefore, try to read more about MPNP and SINP and make your decision.

Good day house,

I have a genuine desire to migrate and settle in Saskatchewan Province with my lovely family and we have a close relative who is willing to support our Expression of Interest application.

She recently became a Canadian Permanent Resident a couple of months ago and has been living and working as a Health Worker in Saskatchewan for over a year. The following clarifications/confirmation are required before adding this information in order to claim additional points on my existing Oasis profile;
My close relative recently sponsored her spouse and a dependent son (spousal/parental sponsorship) to migrate to Canada, please confirm that she can still support my Expression of Interest as this only shows my adaptability to the Saskatchewan
Though, she has been living and working in Saskatchewan for over 12 months, she recently became a registered tenant, thus, unable to provide utility bill in her name covering a 12-month period, will any other document suffice or can she provide utility bills not up to 12 months?
I
Thank you for your time.

My apologies as my response above is wrong, Sask will not accept cell phone bill.

hi, this is to update that i took your advice @SlowlybtSurely and quickly applied to Lakehead University and i was offered a seat few days ago into the compressed program. if not for your response to my post that day i would not have applied. i also thank @19CannyMum and @salford and everyone that contributed that day to that topic as it ll also help others. You are all awesome. Stay SAFE.

SlowlybtSurely:

Your observations are very accurate, especially for schools in and around Toronto. Had same observations few years ago when I was researching my options.

I honestly wouldn't advise the LPN route for someone who already possess an undergraduate degree, especially if they can get into the BScN program or better still, a second degree compressed one.

The only program I found in Ontario that is more forgiving of older prerequisites and an average GPA is the Compressed Nursing BScN prepared program at Lakehead University, Ontario. A few of my friends applied there and were admitted. One even has an Art degree, which means she didn't do most prerequisites, and was still admitted. You take Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology, Statistics amongst other courses, in your first year. Much better than paying so much to do them at Athabasca and still not be guaranteed admission into Nursing afterwards. I heard the program is good but intense as you need to maintain an average cGPA of 70% throughout.

It's officially a 3year program but you can finish in 2.5years if you decide not to take one summer off. I think they're still accepting applications for Fall 2020.

Act fast. Goodluck.

Got this on one of my groups for those interested

*NNC SECURES PASSAGE FOR STRANDED NIGERIANS*.

Fellow NNC members,

About a week ago, it was brought to NNC that there are PRs and COPR holders stranded in Nigeria, who desire to come to Canada. Amongst them are those whose immigrant visas would expire as soon as next week. We requested for more information.

On the 4th of May, we received specific information in this regard and swiftly moved into action. The following offices were immediately contacted:

1. Nigerian High Commission, Ottawa, NHC.
2. Canadian High Commission, Abuja.
3. Mayor of Brampton.
4. Member of Parliament, Brampton Center.
5. Member of Parliament, Brampton West.
6. Global Affairs Canada, GAC.

We got responses from all offices, but the key leads were from the GAC and NHC, who outlined relevant paper work to be submitted and arranged for immediate evacuation respectively.

With hundreds of Nigerians back at home, as well as Nigerians here unable to return home, an Air Peace flight was procured yesterday, May 7, via private arrangement with capacity to lift 274 people at a cost of $1134 pax. It is a direct flight from LOS to YYZ and then to YYC, with a return part to ABJ, scheduled for May 14.

This arrangement sparked interest amongst the Nigerian Community and as at now, there's a wait list of 119 people also stranded in Nigeria. We are currently in talks with the NHC, Air Peace and the representative of the stranded Nigerians to get a larger Boeing 777 aircraft that can take more people, while working on a possible second flight for the growing stranded travellers. More information about this will unfold tomorrow morning.

In the meantime, we hold our immediate constituency dear to heart, so accept this as a notice to you to contact anyone you know who's stranded back home and waiting to come to Canada. They should fill the form below to get on the wait list, while we continue to work out modalities for an airlift for everyone. There is no guaranty that filling this form equals a seat on a plane, but it is a positive first step.

NNC is doing everything it can to help get our brothers and sisters home. We will keep you updated.

@demiyike thanks for sharing such relevant info.

However, men should be careful o! This private/chartered flight is looking cheaper than regular flight.

So Air Peace has a plane with the capacity to fly directly from Lagos to Toronto (11 hours), then continue to Calgary (4 hours)? If this is true then it's encouraging sha.

Last last try to have a reliable source to ask detailed questions before you drop your personal details on an anonymous Google form. I'm not saying it's a scam o, I'm just saying be careful.

AirPeace flew all the way to China to import PPE on behalf of the Nigerian Government; however, the price indeed looks cheap sha, considering the fact that the plane would also likely fly back to Nigeria empty.

I also forwarded this message to a PR I know stuck in Nigeria who refused to pay earlier $5k flight by organized by the Canadian government. I should probably go back and send him a caveat.

The plane isn't flying back empty.. it was supposed to go and pick Nigerians who want to be evacuated from Canada, so they decided to carry those going to Canada ...

I actually know a couple of people involved and I don't think it's scam.. the amount quoted above is for economy, business class is 1700USD and first class higher.. There are many people stuck in Nigeria with COPR expiring soon, many don't want their applications reopened plus some already resigned and sold properties..So, they've been making several arrangements. They were arranging with ET before this came up... However, people can still do their research.

Great news. It's a good opportunity. No one knows when commercial airlines would fully resume operations.

This explains a lot. Just for price comparison though, last summer economy class ET tickets LOS to YYC cost around CAD2k

Air Peace do us well.
