What is the great tribulation?

Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The great tribualtion was first mentioned in the above verse of the bible.

The great tribulation is different from tribulations which the church has being going through,
It is a short period (3 1/2) of severe persecution that is meant to take place just before Jesus second coming to restore Israel.

The great tribulation is not meant for the church but for Israel, It is part of the last 1 week of daniel to be fulfilled, during which Israel would spiritually be restored.

Revelation 12:14
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

The woman in Revelation 12 represent Israel.

Revelation 12:1-2 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

The stars represent the twelve tribes of israel
The sun and the moon represent Jacob and their mother

Some people think the church has replaced Israel, but No hasn't

For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

God is not through with his people which he knew first yet

From the book of daniel, let's see

Daniel 9:24
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Seventy weeks is not for the church but for the nation of Israel ( these are Daniel's people).
To do the following things

1.To Finish transgression
2.To make an end of sin
3.To establish everlasting righteousness
4. To seal every vision and prophecy
5.To anoint the most holy.

Israel's transgression and sin has not ended because they are yet to receive Christ as a people although everlasting righteousness has already being established through Jesus sacrifice

Daniel 9:25-26 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

From the time the commandment to build Jeruslem till the time of Jesus is 69 weeks remaining 1 week.

Great Tribulation has not started. To be honest the world is not coming to an end anytime soon

Remember each week stands for seven years

Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Who is the He spoken of here?
This cannot be Jesus because this man is going to spread abomination, every sacrifice and oblation shall stop because of Him

It might interest you to know that Judaism is still a religion in israel today, they still make prayer and other form of sacrifices (not neccesrily animal sacrifice).


Jesus spoke that the Abomination that causes desolation is yet to come

So the seven years is still futuristic.

This seven years, is what Jesus ssaid it is shorten shorten.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Jeremiah 30:7
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

The great tribulation is called Jacob's trouble.

Israel rejected her messiah but they will recieve him with tears on their faces.

Zechariah 12:10
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

In Revelation 12:14, the woman was given wings to fly into the wilderness
The wilderness signifies, trials, hardship, persecution

God did not appoint the church for wrath.

1 Thessalonians 5:9
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Meaning the church shall be taken away before the great tribulation.

Matthew 24 vs 21 happened during the first century. Those verses in that chapter have nothing to do with your so-called great tribulation because the events happened about 70 year or so after the death of Christ.

The church? What Church?? There is no great tribulation as far as Christ's own Church(his people) are concerned, but if you are speaking of the Church of Rome and all it's offshoots, then ofcourse, like any business out there, there will be ups and downs -- it is to be expected.

It shall be 3 1/2 years.

the wrath of God begins in the day of the Lord, the church will be taken away just before it starts.

The time is getting closer.
Flee from every appearancea of sin and iniquity
Put on the Lord Jesus and dont make any provision for the flesh.
Keep yourself in the love of God, brethren waiting for his coming.

The church will soon be taken way.
The wrath to come is not meant for believers so listen to the master's call

The great tribulation begins after the Rapture
If you dont believe the gospel you will fall for the lie that satan has cooked up.

If you name is not written in Jesus' book you will recieve the mark.
