He won the CAF Cup Winners cup and was nominated for the African Player of the year twice. And by the way when he played African players barely played in Europe. So it's very unfair to use that against him really. And also less qualifying slots were available to African countries at the world cup(I think about one or two). He's still one of Nigeria's greatest player and after so many years he's the second highest goal scorer for the national team. During Odegbami era,our football was largely concentrated on the local scene. European club football didn't gain much attention in Nigeria until the 1990s..Also back then,our league was more organized...A large chunk of our national team players if not all were playing in the local league...The same goes for the rest of Africa...
