ok thanks for the info another question if you don't mind when last was 9ja member of the council and is there any criteria they look at before you contest the post or any can decide to contest?

The last time that Nigeria was a member was in 2014 and 2015. The non-permanent members are usually elected by the General Assembly (that is, all the members of the UN) and a member must get 2/3rd votes to be elected. Any member can be elected, but usually they are elected on regional basis.

Furthermore, the various continents/regions usually agree on their candidates before hand, for example, Africa nations would have already agreed on the African countries that they want to be elected to the Security Council.

Usually the African Group is represented by three members; the Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia-Pacific, and Western European and Others groups by two apiece; and the Eastern European Group by one. Traditionally, one of the seats assigned to either the Asia-Pacific Group or the African Group is filled by a nation from the Arab world.

Does anybody know the name of the tune that was playing at the 3:29 minute mark in this video (when Seyni Kountche was inspecting the troops)? I've been searching for the name of that song for a very long time.

I'm not referring to Syncro System. I'm referring to the Hausa song that the Brigade of Guards band was playing when General Kountche was inspecting the troops.

I despise Buhari's style of leadership but one thing I can't ignore about him is his unshakeable faith in friendship.

He doesn't forget his hood & friends especially loyal ones.

Unlike some people that will forget friends that knew them when they had nothing because Baba God don finally pick their call.

Life is turn by turn, be good to the people on your way up because you might need them on your way down "Lucky Dube"

Old friend = Old idea.

Buhari strategy in 2020 is Nigeria must go back into agriculture, forgetting that modern agriculture requires investment in mechanisation, robotics, automation, advance logistics and management.

Govt of senile, corrupt old men who know nothing about the 21st century!
No wonder Nigeria is regressing into the stone age.
How can these sort of "brains" drive growth in a technologically challenging world?

Dont fool yourself, while it is good to have friends, it is only inNigeria that "CROYNISM and who you know" is solely what determines who you become and mind you, Nigeria will not alwyas remain this way forever.

Success should be based on merit, not all these nonsense Nepotism that Buhari has elevated to an art of statehood.
Just imagine, that twenty-something years old daughter of Abba Kyari, is the Vice President of Nigeria's Sovereign Wealth Fund, bceause her father is the De Facto President baby-sitting the Zombie in Aso Rock.

A Nation that practices such method of reward system, will always go from developing world, to third world, to under-developed world and finally to a collapsed state! Just look at Nigeria.

Lucky guy. Baba has been in the corridors of power since the 1980s.

He retired and probably was not even dreaming that he would get the greatest appointment of his career in retirement.

Impossible is nothing. Still got the best at 76...

A former Minister of Foreign Affairs? The only position greater than minister of Foreign Affairs is the position of President. Therefore, this is no his biggest appointment.

Since Abba Kyari, CoS is now more powerful than SGF (a very powerful constitutional position). CoS is not constitutional. The president can scrap it anytime. He can also reduce his responsibilities. SGF is more powerful than any minister unless the minister is also in kitchen cabinet or a cabal member.

Finance and petroleum ministers are more powerful than foreign minister in Nigeria. It's in USA that Secretary of State is next in actual power to the president, not in Nigeria.

Nigeria has far less clout internationally now than in 1980s. That was during cold war which partly played out in international politics in Africa but most Africans didn't realise it. It kept dictators in power in Africa so long they were loyal to the West and not to USSR.
