1) Thierry Henry ... World Cup winner, premier league winner, FA cup winner, champions league winner, euro winner. French all time goal scorer with 51 goals. Fifa confederation cup winner.

What did this guy do not to win? You have players like Michael Owen on the list?

2) Samuel Eto. He played at highest level and scored goals. He basically won everything

3) Seedorf. He wins champions league for fun.

4) Maldini ( unsung hero) but best defender and talk about his longevity in the game

5) Buffon ( If a goal keeper deserves a spot, gotta be him).

Balon d'Or only went to European Players, not until 1994/5 season when it was lifted.

The first non-European recipient was George Opong Weah.

That was why the likes of Maradona, Pele, Socrates, Romario & co....didn't win it.

Ronaldo came back from a season long injury in korea/Japan 2002 to score crucial goals for Brazil and they gave him the world's best player award..but rivaldo, Carlos and Ronaldinho were the engine of the defence and midfield..
