Is This Fault From My Site Or My Host? by Offpoint: 12:12pm On May 16, 2020
Good day webmasters, I am having some serious issues with my wordpress site. It takes forever to load a page and I keep receiving INTERNAL SERVER ERROR.
To load my dashboard is serious headache, it could take 5 minutes. I have disable all plug ins and switch to default theme, still no single improvement.

I Used Nigeria hosting and bought the highest plan they have, which is almost 25k.

Please can anyone suggest what could be the problem?
After trying everything possible and not seeing solution, I am beginning to suspect the problem lies with my hosting company

Which hosting provider are you using?
Re: Is This Fault From My Site Or My Host? by solexadex(m): 12:21pm On May 16, 2020
It's not hosting problem, but your WordPress site,

To be sure: backup the entire file and just upload a single html file with small text, if it comes up, then it's ur wordpress that's having issues.

Try changing php version to higher version

This may likely be the issue if u started experiencing the issue after upgrading your WordPress script.

Set to 7.2/7.3

Could be from anywhere. Copy everything out and take it down the entire thing then try free hosting with your domain name. If it works, then you know its hosting, otherwise you know what to do.
Also try to host another free domain name on the hosting server that's if you can. If it works then just know its from wordpress

I running the latest wordpress... I have deleted all plug ins and left with the default theme.....

One thing i observe on my cpanel under the statistics. CPU usage is showing 100% usage, that's my i will receive INTERNAL SERVICE ERROR. When the usage drop to at least 97% the site will start loading and at snail speed

Well you already have your answers then!
The error was caused by high CPU usage, you only need to figure what's causing that and get it fixed.
Option A: Hosting related issue, since it's a shared hosting, one or other domain on your server may be monopolizing resources and the fix for that will be to get a new hosting services.

Option B: Files/wordpress related issue, the probability of having this is very low since you said you have deleted all plugins and switch to default, however you may also if you have other installations on the server like a trial script or something when you are developing it, if so delete those scripts along with their database.

Option C: Traffic surge, you may have sudden traffic surge from different source which has heavy toll on your server, try to look into your stats to see how legit your traffic are.

Option D. Hacker /Bots activities, spam bots, ddos are also other causes that might eat up your resources, try to check your stats as said above to see where your traffic are mostly coming from to know hoe to fix those.

Honestly I think is from y host...
I think the problem is option A.

I have not launch the site yet, so traffic can't be a problem now
I have scanned the site with a premium security plugin and no thread was found.
there is no trial script.... in fact all my plug ins are premium

I have contacted my host, I waiting for their replies.

Thanks boss for taking your time to respond to me.

I'd go with Option D or a bad config in your host's web server (very likely).

Cheers!

haha. the same issue I had with one of my site with a Nigerian host. don't bother patronizing all this Nigerian host that is advertising their packages on nairaland, even the ones that will sweet talk you on this thread they will all fail you.

that is how one of them which I don't want to mentioned their name suspended the site because of CPU usage. they were suggesting vps plan which roughly would cost me 160k per year to run the site.

I had to run because it was obvious they were taking advantage thinking I was a novice in stuffs like this.

so I ported to expensive foreign shared hosting thinking it will fix the issue but still same and even worse.

I had no choice than to opt for vps which I saw a huge difference between shared host and vps. it was all clear.

the site that is taking forever to display WordPress dashboard become so fast that I had to give up on shared hosting, whether Nigerian or foreign, don't use shared hosting on blogs with traffic going to 1k and above especially Nigerian hosting as they will put you together with 1 million users on one server which causes problem on your site because other website is using the resources with you.

so instead of you to share 4 GB ram vps server with 1 million users, why not use all those ram for your site with vps. trust me you will see the difference is clear.

although there are some steps I took to migrate the site to vps which also made some changes to the performance because I noticed some stuffs were running in the background which was from the formal host. so I had to just import the database and images and did some tweaking.

some stuffs are running in the background .

once your site started hitting CPU usage of 100% and inode number processes 100%, then you need to switch else the site will keep having 503 server error.

the vps plan is not cheap though due to buying both vps and cpanel license. you can get in touch with me via WhatsApp or Facebook contact below on my nairaland signature

They give you about 5GB free and you get 1GB each time you share their page on social media... Thats what I use for almost all the sites I've worked on and I've never even paid for space and its 2years already.

Their media optimization and compression is sweet and doesn't reduce quality @all

You can buy domain from Nigerian company but not hosting
