CHAPTER TWENTY NINE


Joel woke up to see Melody sleeping beside him, he smiled and stared at her with admiration, he carressed her face making her yawn. She finally woke up, turned towards him and muffled.


"Good morning" she said trying to stiffle a yawn.


"Morning sleeping beauty, hope you slept well?" he asked with a wide grin.


"Yes, i did, what of you?" she stretched herself.


"With a beautiful woman like you beside me? you don't even need to ask. My night was splendid" Joel chuckled getting up from the bed.


"Oh, okay" she said.


"I want to make breakfast for you my beautiful Queen, what do you care for?" Joel asked searching around for his flip flops.


"I am craving rice and palm oil, i have not had it since i came here" she pouted.


"Which one is rice and palm oil again? this my local girlfriend sef, why can't you crave fried rice or white rice with peppered stew? Joel asked, confusion settling on his face.


"Well you wouldn't know because you are rich and rich people don't eat something like that" she sneered.


"Okay, so, how is it prepared? i am out to serve you this morning" Joel winked.


"Simple, when you wash the rice, wait for it boil very well, then you pour the palm oil and other ingredients, cover the pot, once the rice gets done, you stir vigorously and viola, food is ready" she explained gesturing with her hands.


"Hahahaha, abeg, no be me and you go cook that one, talk better food jooore" Joel said laughing and shaking his head at the same time.


"Then i will do the cooking myself" she concluded with a frown.



"That won't happen because my mom will cut my ear if she sees you doing any house chore" Joel shrugged.


"Yea, speaking of your Mom, do you think she will support what we have for each other? like won't she think i gave her son love portion to eat? will she love me to be with you?" she asked nervously.


"You don't need to worry Bambi, my mom is not tribalistic, the same with my dad, they will love whosever i bring home, you don't have anything to worry about and even if you did give me a love portion for me to feel this way, then i wouldn't mind eating what you cook all the days of my life." Joel replied walking towards the bed again.


"What of you?" she asked staring up at him.


"What about me sunshine?" He asked confused.


"You are rich, a high ranked soldier for that matter, what if people find out that your girlfriend is a nobody from the ghetto, won't you feel ashamed?" she asked looking at him as though she was daring him to say otherwise.



"That you came from the ghetto doesn't mean you will remain in the ghetto for the rest of your life. i saw you the first time at the ghetto and i loved you instantly, it is now left for me to groom you to the level i want and moreover, i don't even care about what people will say because as you are looking at me like this? i have hopelessly and helplessly fallen for you, as in no hope for me again. You are not rich but you are happy with what you have, you are not an opportunist. You are my ideal woman, your thickness, your complexion, your big ass and big boobs" he winked at her and chuckled before he continued "Listen to me flower, you don't have anything to worry about, i love you so much, more than i can even explain" he kissed her forehead. She covered her face and Joel laughed.



"Now don't be shy, show Daddy your beautiful face" he said shifting her hands off her face, tears spattered all over her face, she sniffed.


"You are crying?" he asked wiping her face with his palm.


"I thought i was never going to find someone that would treat me this nice, i have a very ugly past when it comes to relationship, am only crying because i don't want this one to end like the rest" she whimpered.


"Madam single bone is actually crying" Joel chuckled. "Listen to me Bambi, i am staying with you for life, i am going nowhere" he spoke softly wiping her tears the more.


"I love you. you are my prince charming" she said hugging him.


"I love you too my Yoruba witch" Joel replied running away towards the door.


"You are annoying fa, better leave this room and don't come back" She feigned anger.


"Yes ma, but this is actually my room, so who needs to leave the room now?" he smirked. She picked one of her slippers and stoned him, but she missed him as he already ran out of the room banging the door after him.
