For many people, leaving Lagos and going back to their previous residents is seen as failure, that is why they will rather hide and manage in Lagos and then during xmas use all their savings to impress their relatives and friends.
Lagos also gives some form of hope. For the educated ones, if Lagos non work na Canada straight, no time.

It is pathetic I agree with you. Rather than take clean air is much saner cities, they will rather only return when they are dead. However, Lagos is addictive for many people.
Eh bro, you know you have also contributed to the over population in Lagos by always recommending Lagos for anybody that says he wants to improve his standard of living, each comments like that plants ideas in the mind of readers. I used to think that the story of people living their village and coming to Lagos with no friend or family in mind was one of those jokes until I met someone who make that adventure.

Charity begins at home, if he doesn't want to work or learn anything in Nigeria where his lucky to have family members like you, forget it, he can not work in Canada because he will be too lazy to get off his bed when he sees cold weather like -10 degrees.

Kick his a***s to farming in the village or enrol him to join Nigeria army force to learn how to be a man.

Nigeria has problems, I agree 100%. We all know this, there is no need to keep pounding that nail in.

My question though is what do the average Nigerians do for Nigeria? I am not talking of the poor now, I am talking about “we” the educated ones? All most Nigerians do is complain and complain, yet what do we do on our own part to reduce those complaints.

If you think Nigerian problems are a government problem, think again. After all, the government are not aliens, they are still Nigerians. Look at how Nigerians with small power act, that should tell you all you need to know. We are where we are today because majority of us who can actually do something choose to ignore the problems and focus on ourselves then complain that the country is bad. Developed countries didn’t start good, they made sacrifices, how many sacrifices have the educated Nigerians made?

Our case is like the case of the story “who will bell the cat?”, the disturbing thing about that story is how the rats are all waiting for a messiah rat to actually bell the cat, meanwhile the logical thing to do should be all of them belling the cat at the same time. Via diversions and other techniques. Some might die, but it will be worth it.

Help Nigeria in your own small way and stop waiting for messiah governments, we have heard, the country is bad, thank you. Either do something or stop adding to the complaints to what we already know. Helping the country can be as little as obeying traffic laws and not resorting to bribery at the expense of others. Not throwing trash anyhow on the floor. Volunteering for community projects, it doesn’t even have to be money. Giving sound educational and factual advice can go a long way.

Nigerians are doing something already.
Dangote is building one of the world's largest refineries.
I saw a rice mill in lagos that has 2.4m tonnes capacity anually almost completed in lagos,etc,etc...
Whoever thinks Nigeria isn't rising is a deluded piece of shìt human that will continue whining like a whiny little bitch till the end of time while his friends are making serious progress in their lives.
The west was built on capitalism, not socialism. No one should have another lazy person's back.
So is Nigeria too.
If you put the effort, you reap the rewards.
If you wanna complain, watch as you get dumped by the rest of the pack that wants to advance in life.
Whoever should chose wisely.

I visited UK 2016, I saw people being house in a makeshift canopy by roadsides. We don't have that here. The weather here even encourages us to sleep out door but we don't because we want to copy the white man. In UK at 8°C and less and people are outside. To be sincere, its worst there but since they control the media, you wouldn't see it until you visit. Yes, like every geographical location all points can't be the same. Banana island is better than some spots in UK and USA, some ghetto are lawless over there. If you live in the Nigerian gheto, don't generalize Nigeria as being a gheto. Yes, we are not there yet but nowhere in the universe has arrive its destination. We keep upgrading every day. This countries you compare with Nigeria are over 200 years old. Go back when they where just 50 years old and compare with Nigeria and see us better than them. Am a proud Nigerian, and believe we will get there. All my money and investment is in naira because I believe it will get better and we have better opportunity here. Bottom line, you can still be very poor overseas, some are actually very poor over there and you can be very rich in naija, many are very rich down here. A market of 200m, produce any item and sell to only 10m daily at 10 naira. Complaining of power and good roads is as a result of your poor management skills. Your selling price is a result of all those things put together. People buy ostentatious goods, why? Its somebody's job to make you buy thinks at a very high price against its worth and we Nigerians are good at that. So don't tell me your price is higher than imported. Someone mentioned here few days ago how he bought local shirts at exorbitant rate more than imported but there didn't last. That's wrong, make your product stand the taste of time and people will buy at any price just like we buy Gucci just for the name. If I no like naija, where I go like? Do they over love us? As a jobless youth, my family tried shipping abroad for masters and I declined and I still don't regret it às my guys that went for that masters are still not where I am. Naija is king, if you are chicken heart and can't survive it, just say so but note that nowhere is safe. Nnams despite quoting you, am not referring to you please. Thanks for understanding. I have never experienced most of the negative things you stated in your write up even while i lived in Okokomaiko. This country you so detest has been good to me. I guess you are outside Nigeria with the way you alluded to "haunted mansion". The way some of you talk about the lifestyle of Nigerians living in Nigeria amazes me. Nigeria has its realities but you have to learn to adapt here to be successful.

For starters Electricity has improved greatly over the past 2 years in my area, these days i only switch on the Gen to warm it. There is solar as an alternative. Security is also top notch in my estate, i know the weakness of my country so i dont waka anyhow at odd hours and in odd places.

Last week an indian wrote my firm to rent one of our new housing development on 5 years lease. Rent of 4mil per annum. Thesame country where everyone talks down on ,its where an indian wants to lockdown accomodation for 5 years. Before the lockdown i helped some chinese filled their landing card inside emirates airline, That would be their first time in Nigeria. Many of them are trooping to this country yet many of you are running away. Its a known fact that Nigerians are some of the most unpatriotic people in the world. I respect peoples decision to relocate if they wish to but there is no point rubbishing your country as if there are no success stories there. Come and see what Most Nigerians say about Nigeria to claim assylum in Canada, you will weep for this country. The whites will never respect you.

I started business right from campus,i have never worked for any company. I manage a thriving property company right now and my networth is enough to retire if i wish . No side hussle, no shady dealing. On campus it was all about my ICAN exams, fellowship and classes there was no time for frivolities. I got it right early in life and i wasnt from a rich background, thats a Nigerian story you will not talk about and the CNN will not talk about.

Like a member said here most of the statistics being quoted about Nigeria is related to the north. And i pray one day this entity will split so that those regions that want to develop will develop.

Nigeria is not hell like a lot of you paint it and the western world is not heaven infact the best you will ever be is a second class citizen behind the whites. Recent attitude from racists like Trump should have shown you that there is no other alternative than to make your country work. We just need some little tweaking to get this country roaring, few things needs to be fixed and i believe hope is not lost. My brother who has lived 25 years outside Nigeria is taking up assets here and planning to relocate here pretty soon. Stop putting everybody together, when you are determined to make it you will make it. Irrespective of location.

Ever wonder why that your aunty and uncle overseas has not visited in the last 10years, they don't have transport fare. They eat from hand to mouth. Are you aware that ministry of foreign affairs is asking them to pay for quarantine and so many can't even afford that to even come back and there are starving especially in China. Jobless since January and the hatred is increasing. Forget about those thriving on crime, crime pays everywhere but for a short while. I also know people that comes to naija twice every year just for missing home likewise people from here visit at will. So its not where you reside, its the grace to take a profitable risk and make the right decisions at all times that makes the difference.
