I don't know the kind of Akpu education these guys have in their east.

Having access to sea through navigation of river and being landlocked are two different things. Mr , is this the kind of education you will give your daughter?
They are really dull. A grown man who went to University don't know the meaning of landlocked. Iboes are hopeless.

The point is River Niger is already international waterway, The Niger Basin has been governed by a series of agreements in the post-colonial era, one of the already established treaties is "the integral parts of the Niger River, should be open to international traffic, with equal treatment for nationals of all states regarding tolls. The Niger River Commission was also tasked with ensuring the safety and control of navigation and facilitating the movement of vessels." this hasn't been implemented because we are still in one nation , if every regions decide to go their separate ways, know that this is one area east and north will come together, River Niger channel is more important to north, because that's the only river from ocean that transverse to northern states, unlike east with Imo River with shortest route to the sea, north leaders know this, expect few Yorubas that chosen to be ignorant because it will favour Igbos which is more closer to the sea than the north, but the fact they can't change, the already existing treaties than govern Niger Basin Authority, we are still in one nation, that's main reason east and north are reluctant on dredging and maintaining River Niger, mind you
the Lower Niger has been dredged twice, first in 1958 by NEDECO and secondly by a consortium of LCHF/Westminster Dredging Company, in 1978 from Baro through Lokoja to Onitsha, Onya to Warri/Port Harcourt. Due to lack of maintenance, the entire dredged channel has silted up. If Nigeria cease to exist the channel will be fully dredge and maintain to accommodate bigger vessels, it's an international route and nobody will block any of the members of NBA from using, that's if Nigeria cease to exist. Your social media ranting, twisting and fabricating stories to suit your narratives can't change the fact that River Niger is an international waterway, I'm fully aware Imo River with the shortest route from the east to Sea is not yet international. waterway, but till then.
Can this kind of ship pass through your dredged River? No

If you dredge it, won't it make the erosion prone region more inhabitable?

Do you know why we don't generate more electricity from river Niger. Because other countries through which it pass have already dam it. This lead to low volume of water especially during dry season

So you can't make use of it.

Why are the Yorubas so angry amongst other ethnic groups in Nigeria about the issue of Igbos leaving Nigeria?
I'm not an IPOBIA, and will never be. I'm not a fan or follower of Nnamdi Kanu, and I will never be. But on every social media, the yorubas, seems to be so paranoid about the Igbo matters in Nigeria why?
The Igbos are constantly been asked to leave the southwest and return to their region by the yorubas, at the same time, they get more angry when issue of Biafra is being mentioned more than anyone else, why is this so?

After seeing facts as presented by the OP, you want to drag another person into baseless argument with you.

What do you want him to debate with you?

That River Niger do not exist or that there is no international law guilding it. Or you do not understand the assertion that if Nigeria split River Niger is the lifeline of the north in terms of sea access. East has an alternative in Imo river.

Why is it really important to convince us that we are landlocked. Wetin be your own?

These non binding regional rubbish doesn't supercede national and sovereign interests.

No law or entity can force any sovereign nation to open or close their border or waterways to foreign countries.
U seem not to get it.
Let me use pidgin:
Nobody get River Niger, no be any country own.
Just as Benin Republic cannot stop ship traversing the Atlantic Ocean to Lagos; or Nigeria stopping ships going to Cameroon.

River Niger is an INTERNATIONAL WATERWAY!

A landlocked country loses nothing if it has access to the Sea. Should the SE become an independent country, it will still have access to the Sea via River Niger at Onitsha, Oguta in Imo and Obuaku in Abia.

So I wonder why these people keep saying that the SE is landlocked, as if it is a bad thing, when the SE has acces to the Ocean
Is it landlocked or not?

We have access through Imo River too, whose source is in Isuochi Abia state.
So we control the water flow.

Dry or rainy season.

And how does all these facts concern the Yorubas?

What's the essence of the OP bringing the 'WEST' into this thread?

Why the need to always bring the Yorubas into the Biafran matter with the funny impression that the Yoruba are the obstacles to Biafran secession?

You must be funny.

Yorubas have been opening numerous threads claiming Igboland is landlocked.
This thread is only a counter thread.

We can do River course diversion if need be to swell up volume of Imo River.
We simply divert and rechannel all Rivers and streams opening into River Niger from Igboland to IMO river.
Chinese are already adept at this technology.

We have so many options in Igboland. Biafra will be a great nation. cheesy

Re: Those From West Are Still Ignorant On River Niger by Igboid: 11:07am On May 20, 2020
The upper flow of IMO river through Abia and Imo is not so good. Too many sediments and silts.
But the downflow at Ndoki is good and wide enough.
We build the port at Ndoki and then build a connection of railways from there to Onitsha, Abakaliki, Nsukka, Owerri, Enugu, Asaba, Agbor (if they decide to come onboard), Orlu, Afikpo, Nnewi, just name it.

We will be fine.
If we want or need more volume, we dredge and do River/streams rechanneling to Imo River to increase the width and volume.
Nothing is impossible for a determined people united by common history, language and cultural ties.

Yorubas should concentrate on retrieving Ilorin and Okun from Fulanis and leave Ndiigbo to take care of our own headaches.
When you cry more than the bereaved, you come across as an evil person who could have been responsible for the deceased death.

This is a great example of Fallacy of hasty generalization.

1) Yorubas and Igbos are not the only people on Nairaland. There are Nupes, Igala,Tivs, Efik, Urhobos on Nairaland too.

2) It's wrong to assume that anyone/everyone that say or open a thread against Biafra must a Yoruba.

3) Debates about the S/East being landlocked or not doesn't mean hatred for Biafra

Why are Yoruba's scared shit about biafra, river Niger is an int'l waterway, yar adua tried dredging it before he died,we also have IMO river in abia state,we have access to sea which is the most important thing,we might be somewhat landlocked both not sealocked,Biafra will be great,we have abundant gas and oil,we are blessed with our hand,we manufacture things, come to Aba and Onitsha, and see things... Biafra Will not be like Nigeria that is locked everywhere,we won't depend on oil,Germany the best country in Europe don't have a single oil...
Biafra amaka.....I just can't help but imagine how the north will rape you clowns to death in Nigeria when we leave...Biafra military go bad ooo we go they intimidate Yoruba people steady with our might, both on sea,air and land....Yoruba's people are not fighters, every body knows these,no wonder Fulani's took over kwara state... go to Lagos and see Yoruba people causing nuisance,, looking for foreigners that are building to ask for settlement...1million boys, awawa boys and rest are Yoruba people causing nuisance,go to Ogun state and weep for yoruba tribe, very dirty and smelly cos no igbo or foreigner stay there....

Yorubas are on majority those who want to die on top Biafra matter.
Anywhere you go, it's the same. At Historyville, at Nigerian Nostalgic Project, everywhere.
Yorubas exhibit hostility towards Biafra. They preach fake Nigerian unity and are always quick to try and use all forms of blackmail or scaremongering, to fight against Biafra actualization.

Your antics are well known to Ndiigbo, we are not our ancestors who left you to your devices. We will not. If you don't let us be, we will not let you be. It's a MAD thing.

Stay off, it can't be that hard to do.

The Azumini Blue River is a beautiful sight to behold, especially with the lush green vegetation surrounding it in ways that paint a majestic gift of nature to this country.

The State Government supposed to go into partnership with the private sector to build and maintain a Zoo and chalets around it as a Tourist destination.

It's not your headache. It's ours. Leave it for us to worry about. If Biafra will be a failure, Yorubas will push us out of Nigeria to get it, we don't like you and you don't like us. No need for the pretence.

We will use barges and bring the cargoes in, if we like.
We can still use river rechannelling technology to channel all Rivers And Streams in Igboland to Imo river to increase the water volume after we must have dredged it. It's our headache, not yours.
Stop crying more than the bereaved. Stop hiding behind shadows (claiming to be from SS when it's obvious you are Yorubas) in desperate attempt to try and make our sea access negotiations with minorities down south difficult.
