Happy Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim brothers and sisters.

I hope you guys are keeping safe and maintaining the distance as advised.

May God not allow us to be shamed in this difficult and trying times.

It's really not easy at all, from the look of things its even getting more serious. Untop lockdown we are still observing almost a full well public holidays.

This period everyone needs grace to survive, especially drivers partners mainly on the rental package because most drivers(mostly the married once) can't even get a reasonable amount for fueling and to feed their family let alone paying rent of say 10k/15k.

For those still buying cars for the purpose of uber. And those looking for rental, I really dont understand or know who's advising you. This is not a good time to invest in ehailing business rather redirect that money into agriculture, you can recoup your capital within 18months but anyways, all man with his/her passion.

Las las we all go dey alright.

Good evening everyone!
I'm a civil servant, i need a side hustle to augment the paltry we're collecting. I've decided on ehaling (Uber, bolt) etc. and I've seen a Nigerian used corolla 2009 to buy. I will like to know more about car specs, rules of engagement and how to make make money in the business considering the fact that I will be operating after office hours. Thanks in anticipation of your response.

One of the pros of ehailing is that it's an instant way to raise cash, especially if you own the car

Agriculture can't give you that

Going through his post, you will see he is making a good decision by owing his car and also using it as a side hustle to complement his salary. Depending fully or taking up rentals/HP is the wrong decision.

Okay so Uber ban me for the second time and said no chance of appealing. First was late last year according to them my fone was not compactable this time around I believe it due cancellation cos the distance I kept getting for pickup is absolutely just crazy and when I decline to pick my cancellation rate jump sometimes as high as 4point and even wen I do pick just so it doesn't go up it reduce by just one point. Minus 32% now before lock down I was at 7. Done all back and forth der refuse changing dia mind. I get like 11kplus with Dem and that was due to a rider that took me round town for like 10 hours plus that day don't even know if that why I was block cos the guy never update trip said it was his boss paying no issue an. Hope am getting paid sha cos have not gotten alert and I want to believe it because of the public holiday?

I personally domt think Dru will comeback to nairaland again, among many reasons I'll only state one sarcastically.

Give yourself a two weeks break from nairaland or let the mods ban you say for like 7days, you would have noticed NL adds little or no value to you rather a total waste of resource, time and energy which you've profited you more had you invested those same time, resource and energy on something else.

In a nut shell, dru isn't coming back because it doesnt cost anything to create another other moniker.

Same reason is behind my erratic presence here if not for the mentions, hineatly? I don't know.

There are different Niches in Agric.... It's left for you to decide on which one is suitable for you

Like Those Agents at Mile12.... They get 10% of Farmers sales

The Farmers themselves start reaping their rewards during the 2nd month of their Planting cycle and at the latter end... They earn more

That's still okay

Renting is actually the worst thing this period.... Some partners don't care at all.

Thank you for choosing to drive and earn with Bolt during this pandemic.

Since the lockdown in Lagos was eased, you and other drivers have been helping to move the city while adhering to the safety guidelines and for this, we thank you!

While we continue to work with the health authorities, we are putting some measures in place to improve the safety conditions while driving with Bolt with our new safety solution in Lagos – the Bolt Protect category. Cars in this category will feature a protective divider between the front and rear seat, adding an extra layer of safety for you.

You are invited to have this Protective Shield installed in your car for FREE. You will also receive a FREE face mask and hand sanitiser!

Installations will begin on Monday the 25th of May 2020. You will receive a text message with instructions with the date, time and location of your personal protect divider installation appointment.

Image
Follow these guidelines when you arrive for your protect divider installation

Arrive on time for your FREE installation and wait in your car for your turn
If you arrive on time, you will be attended to quickly. If you miss your appointment, the Protect divider kept for you may be given to someone else.
Installation takes about 10 mins per vehicle
You may be asked to identify yourself with your driver's license
You must be driving the current car on your profile. Your car is a Toyota corolla
The protect divider can easily be removed from your car when not in use for driving with Bolt

What's your take on this?

It won't work! Bolt is being clever by half.

Say, I'm a driver and I've installed this protective shield. Let's assume my rider #1 for the day happens to be positive for Covid-19. I'm carrying him from Egbeda to Lekki, a 2- hour journey on the average.

On our way, he makes and answers calls. He sneezes maybe once or twice. He coughs once. I'm jamming serious tunes on the car stereo — he's singing along too. I drop him off in Lekki 2 hours later. New request comes in ... I head out to the pickup location ...

So the protective shield is no good if all it does is protect the driver and leave riders exposed! The right thing for Bolt to do is to create systems that will make drivers disinfect their cars and the spaces riders occupy after every ride. That way, everyone is protected.

I think the shield is not meant to protect riders from riders.
It's meant to protect drivers from riders.

You're meant to disinfect your car after every ride. That way, an +ve rider can't spread it to your subsequent riders.

But without the shield, you might get infected by an +ve rider before drop off. And once you're infected, you can possibly, easily spread it to your riders.
