If I were the army I will make leaflets advising BH not to surrender cos they are about to be KIA or captured and skinned alive, no any third option. Imagine after the atrocities you want to surrender, God punish you there.

BREAKING:
Due to the ongoing offensive Ops against insurgents by the military, a 25yrs old #BokoHaram Field Commander in the #LakeChad axis has SURRENDERED to Nigerian Army Super Camp in Mongonu. He led various attacks including the last attack on Baga Town that was repelled.
And we call this rag tags... they even have weapon discipline...

ISWAP claims the first attack in Cameroon in a long time. According to the statement, in Soueram they killed eight Cameroonian soldiers, wounded several and burned several vehicles as well as a local military base.

Some people are working a bit [too] hard to kill the thread that it is becoming obvious. If you know what people are posting is a lie prove it or remain quiet.

I don't necessarily agree with you.

There are three camps it seems to me here.

A. The Nigeria is the best military in Africa and every decision made in the context of strategy, procurement is the best. Anything to the contrary is subversive and should be opposed by any means foul or fair. In the midst of that narrative is sycophantic praise singing of the COAS , PMB and a few others.

B. The NEUTRALS passing a few comments here or there but mainly observing, the contentions between the A and C positions.

C. Constructive criticizers , questioning actions on the basis of rational and validity, making comparative analysis they are describes as LIARS (but without substantiation ) by the A group. It is alleged that some of their comments are removed by moderators.

They only way the thread is pulled down is when people descent to the gutter with vitriolic rhetoric and emotive based arguments not substantive and name calling.

I don't quite agree with the bolded. We actually have Constructive criticizers which is good anyway but the group of people in question are not Constructive in their criticism. They have other agenda which is not yet claer to me.

In that case, we have four camps if not more than that number.

The question should be why u joined the army in the first place..

To many of this generation, being a soldier is what they see in Hollywood movies(and trust me, no army is as good as Hollywood army not even the US), many is for the power, prestige, influence, source of livelihood and some for the real sacrifices. Meanwhile, many along the line later get to understand what it means to be a soldier.

Saying fighting for our nation isnt worth it is a slap on the faces of heroes like Col. Abu Ali and so many of our heroes who have died and still fighting defending our ground..

Though we all know that they are alot of lapses in the military but if you are waiting for the time when everything would be Okay before you think it's worth it or sing their praises then I think you're going to wait forever.

Supporting our soldiers is the least we can do and that's what we do on this thread..An ordinary individual cannot just wake up on a peaceful morning and say he wants to put his life on the line for the people he may not know and for those he will never even know, it can only take people who have given themselves to something bigger to sign up for this.

The historical foundations of the Nigerian armed forces have impacted very strongly as well as negatively into what it has evolved into today.

The British colonial years and the policy of divide and rule. With growing agitation for independence being pushed forward by the then more learned and politically astute South the British used the NA as check and balance on the south to ensure colonialism continued. To that purpose the NA was populated by Northerners with merit taking a backseat.

That moved on to a period of coups and counter coups where the army became totally politicized with nepotism and tribalism at the core of its organizational culture. The easiest way to move on life and become a governor or similar high level apportionment was to join the army, most of our stupendously rich $ billionaires are ex Generals. For many years NDA recruitment was to good degree based on nepotism, but then again so are most things in Nigeria.

Many joined up never believing they would ever be engaged in life or death warfare.

Probably since the advent of civilian democracy the allure of the NA to the ruling classes has lost its shiny appeal, so w see a lot more of everyday people getting into the army and the NDA.

Supporting TRUTH in a system that denies truth and probity is very difficult , however, exposing lies and deceit will eventually result in better working conditions and the best value fit for purpose equipment for our gallant combatants that is true patriotism anything else is consent to the status quo .

You have already prejudiced the notion of "Constructive Criticism " because you it seems you have a definition of what you think it is or what it should be. As a consequence you allege they have other agenda. Your perception is also reflection of your experience that may cause you to see criticism as an affront or attack.

Finally what is the other camp you have mentioned please expand.

Hmmm...you are too stubborn.
I will be brief because of time

Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one.

This guy below doesn't not fall into that category. I wonder where you will place him.

He is just too negative and non progressive

And for your information, we have three type of criticism. We have;
1. Constructive criticism
2. Negative criticism
3. And Destructive criticism

As for you, I don't have anything against your write up but your inability to give up even when the truth is so glaring is your weakness.
Your write up is good with some deep research. We can call that Constructive criticism

I very much agree with this. Couldn't have put it better. For a discussion thread it can be hard to have frank discussions without the other person resorting to name calling and the like. That is why I take the time to thank people who respond to my submissions in a matured manner.

There are facts, there's is empirical evidence and you could say there us also substantive opinion based arguments.

Sometimes there are many roads to Jerusalem and it's a matter of preference.

When it comes to TRUTH then what is one person truth is another person LIE. Truth can be very opinion led. A classic example TRUMPS idea of TRUTH can vary dramatically with quite a few others.

Out of curiosity one example two would be great of where l have REFUSED TO ACCEPT A GLARING TRUTH, please.

We have a lot of contention here.

IMO predominantly from groups who appreciate matters from one perspective thier own. A perspective evolved from limited experience and exposure.

There is a socio-cultural dynamic , where a person is assumed knowledge by designation and longevity not by measured perfomances. So people will praise PMB and COAS but it's more emotive bias than measured objectivity.

Another aspect of conflict is a background of supposed intellect that is based on acceptance not question.

For example in Nigeria if you were at university and you were receiving a lecture theatre with 300 post grad students. Which is supposed to be interactive. And a student stood up and disagreed with the emeritus Prof. explaining that his approach is not tenable and you present an opposing well thought out alternative. In Nigeria you will probably be kicked out labelled a trouble maker. And if your not careful you will be failed.

We have the emotive sentiment misguided patriotism group. Who think anyone that questions there position is an act of treason.

Finally, any assessment of performance will always in general have a unit of measurement based on comparison.

I think we are not our brothers keeper in Africa here ?
Are you telling me that countries like Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco can’t step firstly through dialogue and talk to both aggrieved parties and find a way quenching this fight.
And if dialogue fails form a coalition army to support the recognized party ?
We don’t have a strong union like the NATO and E.U etc...
