I do feel the education sector is not doing anything to challenge the govt to ways in which the resumption of education in the country would be gradually eased.
I myself find it hard to see what usefulness is the presidential taskforce and the media in addressing key issues like education, diversification and other things being affected by the virus.

My concern is about teachers of private schools. How do we survive if schools still remain closed? other sectors are warming up for reopening, schools are left out,i urge members of PTF to consider reopening of schools so that teachers of private schools don't die of hunger.

''It is not true'' Minister of state for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba dismisses claim of schools resuming on June 8

Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has dismissed reports making the rounds on social media that schools nationwide will be reopened for academic activities on Monday, June 8.

Nwajiuba who spoke at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 today May 27, said a statement that was alleged to have emanated from the task force directing the opening of schools, is not true.

He said the Federal government is being careful not to allow children return to schools and expose them to the virus. He added that the Ministry will follow the guidelines and advice from the Ministry of Health and the NCDC before schools can be reopened.

Private Schools proprietors would not be happy about this now!

I went to our proprietor , he was also complaining that where do I expect him to get money yo give me since the pupils are not coming to school. I cried that day. I wish school resume soon so that I can save a little money to start small business to support the teaching job. In fact those proprietors don't pity us at all

It's a tough call to reopen schools just now. Children being who they are cannot do social distancing or observe all those sanitary calls by themselves. So it's gonna be hard for them, not forgetting they are the most vulnerable in all these.
Children are not the most vulnerable, old people are.

Mr minister of state is in no position to say when schools will reopen it not.

Buhari can come on monday now and declare June 8. The big guys who call the shots are bent on things returning back to normal.

Airport reopening means interstate travel ban would be cancelled which would result in religious gatherings and schools reopening.

By the way, where is education minister, Adamu Adamu??

We've not heard from him since that jugular ASUU chairman gave him.
. Air travel can be well controlled all arrivals at any point tested before leaving air port area.

The coronavirus have exposed their negligence in the education sector. Advanced countries can manage the outbreak in school but definitely not here.

Instead of exposing the children to the virus, I would have expected you to say that parents that have their wards in these schools, to contribute 25% of their fees to the school to enable the private schools pay some stipend to their teachers.

Re-open schools oga...

If possible let it be just morning and afternoon classes

Morning : Kg1- primary 2 pupils/ jss1 - jss3 students (8am-12), along with their teachers

Afternoon: Primary 3- primary 6 pupils/ Sss1-sss3 students (1pm -4pm), along with their teachers

This method will benefit even the teachers... Coz they can get other businesses and have time for it....
