I have seen this story several times, and each time i read it, even though i get the message, it tickles my sense of mischief.

What if Shina Peters had/has his own business conglomerate as at 1990 and 2015? Surely, someone who built a house with 20million in 1990 is no small person

In the end, we choose what we wish to compare and believe in

Very possible that about 80% of Shina Peter's Networth was tied to that property that was not generating income for him.

do you advise people to pay online with their debit card via the lotus website?

It boils down to the unpredictability of the system. Do u remember the short time it took TB to nose dive from over 18% and down to 3. Anything can happen in a short time in Nigeria. The guys making the kill in the stock market in Nigeria presently are the ones that do short term. Checking the market all the time and trading. Some guys buy and sell same stock same day.

Long term Bond are usually favourable to corporates, Pension Fund administrators, Banks and state governments. this is primarily for business continuing from constant liquid.
Assuming my Sukuk bond is successful and 1 year into the investment I decide to stop and get back my money, how do I go about it and How soon can I get my investment back?

You can sell it in the secondary market. That's another reason to have your CSCS available so that it will be easier to trade

Can someone please shed some light on this. It is a major concern for me too. Come another presidential election and another political party wins, what happens to our investment? I know government is transitional, but I also know things don't happen the normal way here in Nigeria. What will happen to our investment after their current governing administration ends o

Reasons it is difficult for me to invest in the bond market, most of us invest in it for the profit motives, an indepth analysis would tell us that the funds (not all) are not used for the purpose it was issued hence you fear they may not be able to pay back and when the economy gets grounded they will be repaying by borrowing again to service debt.

With the person of PMB, he can use executive orders (force majeure) to even confiscate someones investment.

This is the reason election affects businesses. Investors watch people who are contending and thier programs for the economy, we knew how portfolio investors left the the Nigerian market that shook the Nigeria Stock Exchange and saw our naira devalued to the lowest in 2016. Uptill now, the economy have not recovered from it.

Though I'm still researching, I love to invest in the bond market as I have been doing in the stock market.

If you have your reservations about the investment, the best thing if for you not to invest.

Nothing to calculate again, if one is in doubt in the ability of a Sovereign country to honour its debt obligations.

Corporations are honouring their corporate bonds, state governments are honouring their bonds, bonds issued when GEJ was the President are still paying the agreed coupons.

Anything that will prevent a Sovereign nation from honouring its domestic debt obligations,
means no investment or business can ever make profit in the country.

Some few months ago, Osun State was very broke. Even with that, the state government bond paid coupon to Investors. Investors were paid before the state monthly allocations from Abuja

I have been in bond market since year 2000....no stories from FGN so far.

Bond investors are paid their coupons and capital repayment before paying FGN workers salaries

Some of my friends have FGN Bond 2049, 2050....and still waiting for FGN Bond 2090.

But if your not interested in FGN Bonds, your free to opt out.

Cheers! !

Exactly.

CBN will just credit the bond investors, then balance will be given to the state or FGN depending on the bond investor purchased

This cscs account number, is it 10 digits or 9 digits? The sukuk bond form gave space for 9 digits while my Stanbic stockbrokers account number is actually 10 digits.

Is the Stanbic stockbrokers account not same as my cscs account number? I would have easily called them to ask, but call agents are off due to covid 19
