As I've been said severally. On whatever authority or for whatever reason, what is obvious is questions can be asked.
And indeed you are here asking questions, which you should do least you mistakenly elect "$350,000 Rolls Royce Phantom purchasing" and "luxury vehicles, mansions in and outside Nigeria" crooks, then cry over spilt milk.

Know though that you are not investigating, nor do they even recognise your existence.

Hehehe.
In the mind of the unexposed okoros, evey notherner is supposed to be an almajiri and a begger or shoe shiner. Whenever they see a wealthy northerner, they start crying and shouting government money.
Just in case you don't know, the north has low, middle and high classes.
And in case you don't know, majority of the high profit businesses are dominated by northerners.

I admit I will have to remove my President Elumelu . He is one of the overnight billionaires that started a bank in the 90's.

What! You made a mistake with your nominee for President?

We'd have to scrutinise your entire list if you could make an error as huge as that, though, I do not agree that one can start a bank without being somewhat wealthy to begin with. Are you sure you are giving him credit for the work he did before you became aware of him? Three degrees points to not overnight, in my opinion.

Point out the businesses that source capital was not government funds.

He acquired Standard Trust Bank in 1997, under Abacha was still ruling. Not much is said about what he did prior to acquiring the bank with a number of investors and what other business concerns he got the source capital from. Money was scarce during the 90's except you had connections with government officials.

The fact that he "acquired Standard Trust Bank in 1997, under Abacha" does not mean he acted illegally. And Money was not "scarce during the 90's except you had connections with government officials" for everyone.

There's lots of people who legitimately made money under Abacha without working for government!

You don't just wake up and gather money from your closest friends and start a bank. I am always concerned with source capital for any business. We have a serious money laundering problem in the country, where generals and politicians are always looking for businesses or fronts to turn their dirty money clean.

Indeed, "you don't just wake up and gather money from your closest friends and start a bank". And there's nothing to suggest Elumelu just woke up gathered money from his closest friends to start a bank.

We do ourselves a huge disservice when we fill our ignorance about Elumelu's or anyone else's wealth with our own stupidity and prejudices. Its the point I made about my neighbour who allegedly kept his wife in a cupboard on Osinbajo Close.

Most of the source capital for the banks were the Military Generals that ruled the country. They looted billions of dollars and needed the banks to help them hide and launder their money, that is fact.

At least the purpose of this education has been achieved. Work on it. So long...

Patently False!! The three highest profit businesses in Nigeria are:
1. Oil and Gas
2. Telecoms
3. Banking
Mention the northerners dominating these fields let's see.
Even the oil and gas you can lay claim to. It's basically a question of being dashed the licence by the northern military looters and not any show of competence or excellence in any regard. The real work is being done by the IOCs while the leeches get royalties they barely deserve.

Very untrue. That was the era when cronyism and corruption was at its peak. Hardly could anyone get anything done in that era without knowing someone up there or greasing palms. Stop being an apologist for dictators and their lackeys

The military looters handed over oil blocks meant for 200 million million people to individuals who just collect rent of millions of dollars annually for doing nothing and who sell the rights to the IOC's, who do all the work . It was found 80% of the oil blocks are owned by individuals outside the Niger Delta region.

Its not "fact", Ruud, but what you believe, and being a non-believing individual myself, you'd need to provide me with evidence for your claim please.

There were many in the 90s who made money outside government and with no military generals help.

I guess you have an instrument with which you measured which era was more corrupt so I'll let that pass instead of entering a who's got better tits argument with you. Bet you weren't amongst us who rejoiced when that era was ended by Buhari though. Never has a Nigerian coup been so welcomed.

Shagari was a lot like Buhari, he allowed free for all looting by those under him. The bank vault was left open and the politicians could do as they please, like they currently do today.

Nigeria has never had a government that actually had the people interest at heart.

I stated fact most bank's capital was from looted funds by the military generals that looted billions of dollars. I will try and find the documentary that backed up my claim.

Nigerian banks played an active role in the estimated $600 billion dollars that has been looted since 1960.

I concur. But the two most corrupt govt ever in the history of Nigeria are IBB and Abacha's

Do you need an instrument? Are you from space? $3.5bn reparations and still counting by the chief of loots himself? Or $1.9bn gulf oil windfall with attendant dashing off of oil blocs during the time of the evil genius. Who needs a ruler to measure all these thefts
Re: Time For Nigerians To Start Questioning People's Source Of Wealth by MarrisManah(m): 7:56am On May 29, 2020
I always laugh when some people erroneously ask 'why don't investigate their source of poverty' questions here and there, truth is, the source of wealth of the corrupt few is actually the reason for the source of poverty of many.
So by asking for the source of wealth of those unexplained wealth, you're actually solving your source of poverty.
You can't possibly make your own money when these wolves are sitting on our common wealth.

Those are the one's you know of, and you therefore think you know it all.

Someone once said if Abacha had not died we'd have never heard of his looting, and the reason we do not know how much others looted is they are alive to hide it.

I thought we were talking about shagari. He's dead not so? Besides just cause someone made that statement doesn't make it true. GEJ is still alive and all heists by his govt are on the table. Yar'adua is dead and nothing has been heard untoward about his time. Shall we celebrate his holiness then?
