The problem exactly
It is not about me
I don't even consider my self gainfully employed.
The issue here is that the government have impoverished people so much to the extent that we can not differentiate between Good and bad.

What is the need of NTEACH to BSc holder? What would BEd do if others are doing their jobs ?

I agree with you that the governments of the past have done so much to impoverish the people. It is mind-boggling to consider the decades of rot and neglect in our education sector. However, I disagree with your assertion that the people cannot point out differences between good and bad.

There is nothing bad in the Npower programme. The best of all will be if the government moves the current beneficiaries from the programme to better and permanent jobs. This will concretize this laudable programme as one of the best people-oriented programmes in the history of our country, Nigeria. The Npower programme has touched so many lives in so many ways than you could imagine.

The Nteach has both B.Ed, B.Sc, B.Eng, etc, beneficiaries. We need more schools in this nation. We, definitely, need more dedicated teachers. The student-teacher ratio is something that our government needs to look into. Like I always say, without good and quality education, especially at the basic and senior secondary levels, no country will ever become great.

I have come to realize that B.Sc holders make excellent science teachers. I haven't figured out why this so. Unless, of course, such person doesn't know what he/she studied. A B.Sc holder in any of the natural science subjects - physics, chemistry and biology - usually turns out to be a very good teacher. Such a B.Sc holder will likely become an excellent classroom teacher in his/her related subject, if he/she is exposed to the rudiments of teaching. However, many of the Nteach beneficiaries have acquired many of these rudiments from the programmes installed in the devices given to them.

It is just that, given options, many B.Sc holders would not like to go into teaching, unless those who have passion for teaching. I believe many of the Nteach B.Sc beneficiaries have the passion for teaching. Some had even taught in some private schools before the government came up with the important programme.

You see, I usually laugh when people say that the Npower beneficiaries are just collecting money. This is because I believe they are speaking from a point of ignorance. The diligence of so many of the Nteach beneficiaries has brought a kind of light to their places of deployment. You will not believe that some of the permanent teachers, who are currently earning more than three times the stipend the beneficiaries are getting, are actually learning one or two things from some of the Nteach beneficiaries.
Many of the Nteach beneficiaries participate fully to the point that one cannot differetiate between them and the permanent teachers. Some are or have been form teachers, some are sports masters or mistresses, some teach more periods weekly than the permanent teachers, etc.

Now that you know all these, deepwater, you can speak from a platform of knowledge.

Any graduate who cannot go into a classroom and teach the young ones a subject that is related to his or her field, should not to be a graduate. That is my opinion and I stand to be corrected. With knowledge of the rudiments of teaching, a serious B.Sc holder should make a good teacher.

So, the government did not make any mistake by recruiting B.Sc holders and sending them to the classrooms to teach. This is 2020. With all the modern learning and teaching equipment!

I dont think this govt.will dare use this people for almost 4years and dump them without benefit.you dont save a person from drowning only to strangle him.if the govt.wanted training them for 2years,do you pay to train?and i keep reading them say it was employment.can a govt.encourage hire and fire at will without benefit?this people go to work monday to friday how do u expect them to save 30k...dont they have bills to pay, even with the rising cost of transport and food?what about their age in a country where age is a major factor in employment.let this govt.employ npower and give them hope in a nations blessed with so much wealth.the people went to school so they can be gainfully employed not business,if govt want to encourage small biz owner they have a lot of shop owners that need money to boost it.remember this npower people could be your brother or sister.if govt dont give them this money....its no better if its in the pocket of a politician for doing absolutely nothing .my humble submission

While I acknowledge the pains of a young graduate who settled down for this sham of a programme, I still vehemently mentioned and would repeat every day twice in Sunday that there is nothing good in NPOWER.

it was a political stunt and our graduate fell for it as the usual prey.

This exactly is the problem.
When a graduate is not aware that it is not deepwaters' responsibility to create job for the people.

Those ones who spent 16 years in power, did they even manage to engage 200,000 young graduates? The alternative was worse

Unemployment benefit? Do you even know what unemployment benefit means?

Some of you who are commenting know zilch about Npower. Some of you are commenting out of bitterness. Well, this is a faceless forum and anyone can say anything, including those who are still living on monthly allowances from their parents.

What kind of job do you do? Are you gainfully employed?

grin grin grin Eya doh, I know it hurts but take heart. Npower is not a job and you guys were told from the beginning but government due to election decided to extend it. Now, it is time to go.

Also, I'll advise you stop being greedy. You guys need to go for others to come in, that's if government will even continue the programme, there are over 50 million unemployed people in Nigeria. Allow others to eat.

Me self I'm jobless, if FG does another round, I'll apply. I didn't the first time.

Shey the salary is up to N50k now?

There are private school teachers earning less than 30k a month.

I was reading from the beginning just to see this statement so that I can say what I know.
What I wanted to say is that: the names of the new beneficiaries have been compiled nationwide. Though, I don't know if the Npower portal will be opened for additional few applicants to avoid the backlash from the public. Take it from someone who witnessed the compilation

It is because you erroneously think it is free money that you want to "eat small."

Did I ever say that the government shouldn't recruit new people. If the present beneficiaries are disengaged without moving them to better and permanent jobs, just like the government has said on many occasions, does your father have a company that will employ them? Reason before you speak.

I said it. It is obvious you don't know anything about the programme. When some of you hear Npower and 30k, all your antennas will start shaking because you erroneously think it is free money. Do a little googling. Does Mr President come across to you like a dishonest person?

As a diligent and dedicated Npower beneficiary, at least the Nteach, you work 7hrs to 8hrs ( 7 a.m to 2 p.m.) five days a week (Monday to Friday), depending on whether you are deployed to primary or secondary. You teach nothing less than 200 hundred pupils. You may even be a form teacher. You participate fully in extracurricular activities, such as inter-house sports. I strongly doubt somebody like you, socialjustice, will agree to do so, even for four months without absconding, let alone for one year or two years.

There is no doubt that a few bad eggs will be among the beneficiaries, just like in many government establishments. However, the government has a way of fishing them out.

Npower stipend is not free money.
