Once you get your citizenship i dont see reason why to keep leaving the life of a puppet when you can be a king in your own fathers land.

I always wanted to live a simple farming life like we have here on the country side but ddue to racism i have decided to build such life back home. How much would i need to do such?
your best bet will be Abuja but believe me $30k will be blown in 3years, at most 4 when living in Abuja.
certainly you need to stay back and replan.
you are supposed to have all these years erected something decent back home and then be moving to your Nigerian home with $30k, that will be an ok start.

but $30k in 2020 is a risky return.

I will rather face the discrimination here than relocate and get kidnapped
My homie from Boston went to Lagos, shot at several times, he missed death by a whisker, and the truth is apart from work discrimination being a nurse, have not experienced any hard core discrimination since I realized I’m black

well security is always a problem in Nigeria but don't forget, you can't see shinning cars in the dark.
your friends lifestyle was loud, am sorry but this is the truth about the present day Nigeria. you have to stay lowkey to the public because both the police and hoodlums are watching.

I always prescribe Abuja for any returnee. go there live quietly.

don't rely on Nigeria future leadership. we have never being 100% lucky on that.

if Enugu is your hometown, I would advice you skip that plan and move elsewhere, where you are not known as a returnee (sorry can't trust this village people most esp in the east and west).

You're assuming he has the citizenship. I'm opportuned to live and work among the elites, and a good number of them are tired. Anyways, everyone should look at his or her own situation. I may not have been significantly affected by tribalism, but I will never be so naive to say it is not a real issue or it's just among the poor. All I can is that Nigeria has humbled even better men.

Is it possible to move back without people knowing?
yes. but you have to adjust your lifestyle accordingly. Nigeria is full of watchers you never can know what they are watching for.

You think they don't know this?
All those abroad shouting sane environment and all that are just a paycheck away from being evicted from that cubicle they manage in and the cleaning job they do.
Everyone that has money abroad knows that he has to invest in Nigeria and starts planning his relocation from the get go.
I read the OPs story and it seems he has been trying to invest his money in Nigeria but his people keeps squandering his money.
Now that is something I will never do as a person, never!

Sir, where did you get the idea that I've been trying to invest my money and those in Nigeria squandered it? undecided are you referring to a topic I made based off someone's YouTube video? I even put a link to the video at the end showing it's not my story so please learn to read properly next time.

Also I'm sure you're one of the Nigerians who live like the below picture but will come online to be shouting "abroad people live in cubicles"

Respect yourself please!

You can’t blame Ghanaians for their attitude. Or can you?

I was thinking of Ghana due to electricity and low crime but heard they suck too with discrimination well home it is then.

I'm sorry but I saw your story a while back and I thought you were talking about yourself.I'm sorry about that.
Also,I said Nigerians who always talk against relocating back to Nigeria and the ones who give empty excuses as quality of life etc are the ones that don't have money to invest back home and live in cubicles abroad.
Its basic human instinct to always return your spoils back home, that is if you've made spoils in the first place.
Also the picture you put down there does not in anyway relate to my lifestyle.
We can do a picture contest if you want to,

On many occasions, I've seen you refer to all those who live abroad to be living in cubicles which is a very ignorant, condescending, arrogant and FALSE statement.

If you don't want negative assumptions made about your lifestyle, don't make such assumptions about others. Simple.

Its like you have a problem with reading and understanding.
I said "people who talk down on Nigeria and relocation usually don't have money to relocate and bring their spoils home, reason why they come up with quality of life excuses and security".
What security and quality of life that's abroad that cant be gotten in Nigeria huh?
You sound so triggered though, its like my statement struck a nerve.
Well,if you belong to the school of thought I described, then know that I'm not sorry.
We as a people even need less returnees that aren't bringing anything back home after wasted years abroad.
They should stay there and keep enjoying their imaginative quality of life their $500/week can't even afford over there na,shuuu undecided

I created this topic for intelligent minds to share ideas on what $30k can do for someone in Nigeria - not for some frustrated fellow to turn this thread into a rant session on how he and his family members lived in cubicles abroad and earn $500 per week lipsrsealed

It's not a crime to be poor abroad but if you no get money, close your mouth and work your way up than giving silly excuses.I have no regard for those set of people.
Enough of this argument.
I said what I said.
Those that have money are building houses back home everyday, planning their relocation in their prime.
The ones that don't have money and are squatting in cubicles keep using quality of life and security as excuse[/s].

Again what has this got to do with the topic? You've got issues bro. Serious issues.

you are in your fathers land with enough money saved and own your own business i dont think you will feel the tribalism ..I grew up in Nigeria and never felt it i dont think i will feel it now that i have enough cash to live a good life.

Good point!!!! I have said it times without number the only Nigerians who think abroad is better than Nigeria when you have money are those who the only things they knew before they left Nigeria is poverty. If you are rich in Nigeria the police will not just kill you like that. All those SARS madness did you see them killing anybody in Maitama, Ikoyi, Lekki etc. They only oppress the poor people and that is a known fact. Mind you forget all those wailing that Nigeria is not secured and all that most of them still send money back to build a house. Who are they building the house for?? What about business and all their investment ? Who are they doing it for The truth is they all want to return back somedays if not why are they building houses and investing? They only deceive themselves in their cubicles that Nigeria is not secured.

One more thing to ask them; the Americans, British etc who work in their various embassies who they all cried to for Visa where do they all live? The thousands of Americans, British, Chinese etc who work and live in Nigeria where do they live? Even despite kidnapping in Niger Delta those white folks still stay and work in Nigeria because of the large life they live. As a wise person ask yourself a question why despite all the insecurity in Nigeria you still have expatriates of many nationalities living and working in Nigeria? That American VO that attended to you after all your prayer on
the queue in the hot sun where do you think he lives in Oh, you think he lives in the US and come to Nigeria everyday because Nigeria is not secured?smh!!!
Like I said majority of them shouting Nigeria is not secured are those who the only things they knew before they left Nigeria is poverty. They lived in slum and never experienced how beautiful Nigeria could be if you are rich. But my brother we should not blame them Nigeria is hell fire if you are poor. Nigeria only favour the few ones who are the rich Nigerians if you fortunate to be one of them Nigeria is best place to live for you.

Decide your investment strategy, lifestyle and financial targets. Speak with investment experts in the Nigerian economy to know what to do .All the best

You obviously have problem of comprehension!!! Where in my statements did I say that. I only gave you how your experience will be in Nigeria if you are rich or poor. Every society has their own issue in your so called America for example you have white privilege etc. Did George and many other black who have died same way deserve to be killed like that?? You shouldn't have ask the public if $30k is enough to settle down you should have just carried your bag and go home. Guy you seem confused about your decision and I think you will be better off in the US you better stay back don't go back home and be poor to suffer.

You think home is safe for you? Police kill more Nigerians and you will not see any protest as you seeing in America today.

Yes that amount is more than enough to move back home but not to buy a house and live a high life but to rent and start up a business then give yourself the next 1-2 yrs to how things turns out.

What kind of moderator are you that is so negative about Nigeria? How many Nigerians have been killed in their fatherland by Nigerian police? For God's sake, this is an international forum. Let's us be guided by our comments against motherland.
