Slawormir:That's because you are normal... Not every Nigerian is in his right senses. I saw India go down this route years ago, and felt my country despite our struggles will never get to a stage where raping of women and young girls would be so widespread... Alas! I underestimated the gross darkness that has engulfed my society!!!... We must all wake up to our senses and morality!!!.. We must no longer condone rape jokes, or fail to report individuals with such bents... We must learn to be careful and clean in all our dealings with the opposite sex... We have to stamp out this unspeakable shame from our already damaged national reputation!!! Being labelled or known for corruption, terrorism, and internet fraud is bad enough, we can't afford the horrible label of "Rapists" or "women molesters"!!! |

abbey621:With Sowore there was a positive development, he was released but only after international pressure and his connections, the rest were dead on arrival. If I'm being honest with you most people are only interested in protesting because America is protesting. A very sad reality about Nigeria is that most of the time protesting is meaningless because the people with power to do something don't see this as something worth bothering with. If you really want change vote for the people who represent your interests. |

Farki:Exactly, even with Sowore social media protests had little effect, it was his connections internationally that ultimately made the real difference. You've hit the nail on the head, these leaders just don't care and unfortunately most people just vote with herd mentality. |

Nigerians will not come out now to protest but they will mind other people's business who's fighting to be treated equal as others. |

bukatyne:Thanks but a culture that trivialises rape can also permeate the legal system, it's a bit more complex than just pointing out what the writing says is what I mean |

LoveJesus87:The problem is that in a place like Nigeria, a lot of innocent guys will be put to death especially when their exes lie against them. |

abbey621:I know, we're saying the same thing. I just don't think these protests are completely useless, I know how corrupt the system is but even a nudge still better than nothing in my opinion |
| Re: Nigerians Commence #StopRapingWomen Protest Against Sexual Assaults by bukatyne(f): 5:51pm On Jun 01, 2020 |
ibkayee:Is the problem the fact that our culture trivializes rape? I don't think so. It is the fact we have no moral compass. It is not like other crimes are taken seriously. |

I have always said it, Nigerians can not think on their own, all they do is copy, copy. Because protest is ongoing in US , they want to start their own fake protest. If it is possible to stop rape by inscription on Placard either on social media or on the street then why not let us do same for all the following; 1.Kidnapping 2. Arm Robbery 3. Embezzlement 4. Power Supply 5. Unemployment 6. Area Boys etc It is no surprise, when their is a country with majority with Pentium 1 brain , this is how the country turns out to be. Lest I forget , let us say no indecent dressing and scamming by women. Also , the police should do their work effectively . |

salbis:They should be executed. Rape is from the mind not from the pinus. A rapist who has no penis will still rape; it is either he invite his friends to the rape why he enjoy the view and pour in his heart or he uses artificial object. |

Everyday, Nairaland boys call out "girls of nowadays" for for miscellaneous reasons. You hear things like "fear women", etc. Yet a lot of men are committing such a hideous crime as rape and no one calls out "men of nowadays". I've said it over and over again, sex related crimes will not stop until we stop shielding our fellow men from blames. The other day, a guy was being praised here for rubbing his genital on a lady in a queue and the lady was labelled a pretender. Accept it or not, boys/men of today are also nothing like our fathers. The perversion is alarming and the way we condone it is even scarier! #FearMen #SayNoToRape |

Closet rapist who is low key angered by those who do the little they can to stand against rape, saying words like "waste of time" "they are forming woke" "they are copy copy".... YET THIS MORAFCUKAS DO NOTHING but talk down on those who DO SOMETHING. Shebi this is the first time in your miserable lives that you have ever seen anyone holding up a placard in protest. Just come out with your full chest and say you had rather everyone shut up concerning rape and don't bother appealing to the conscience of potential future rapist like you. Be brave enough to say that this inscriptions triggers you because you once raped someone. Bastaaards! |

bukatyne:I think it trivializes rape, comedians joke about it feely, it's often downplayed, victims are begged to forgive by family members as if it's nothing, I could go on... I think it's deeper than just not having any moral compass, crimes are generally not taken seriously but you won't see victims of these crimes be dismissed or get demonised by the general consensus the way sexual assault victims do |

Parents should also teach their sons how to behave, how to treat women, what to do and not to do. The whole rape issue is as a result of neglect of male training. #TrainUrSons
