Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has been dragged before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja over an alleged forged certificate and perjury.

In the originating summons sighted by Daily Independent, the plaintiffs are Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Anakhu while the defendants are the All Progressives Congress (APC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Inspector- General of Police (IGP) and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Oshiomole with his kinder politics of trying to make this suit appears as coming from all three senatorial districts of the state and by extension, the entire State-sanctioned.

This even gets funnier when you realize that the person instigating all these only has to his credit and rise to fame his ability of being a good Tailor. Ironic, right?

Now, the question any sane mind should be asking is, was this certificate intact and without any blemish when Obaseki worked as the head of Oshiomole's economic team for the 8 years he was in charge as the governor of the state and also when he propped him up to take over the reins from him?

I'm holding brief for none of them and they can annihilate themselves for all I care but I won't allow my self to be cowed by some caveman kinda politics being played by people who on a good day are nothing of any benefit to the masses but only caring about themselves and their pockets.

It really surprises me how difficult it is for most of our leaders to get certificate. Anyway, that is if its true.

There is a reason people say Edo is not Lagos. Let me make it clear a bit. Obaseki has put up a strong fight it doesn't matter if he loses out.

What is more important is to fight like a man. After all politics is generally a game of win or lose. The way Ambode chickened out easily in Lagos portrays a man who lack balls in between his legs. god fathers in politics are set of people without any remedy or solution.

If you are loyal to them, you are in trouble, if not loyal, you are in trouble. The best way around them is to confront your fears and wait for whatever outcome. This is exactly what Obaseki is doing. Ambode was very loyal to Tinubu to the core, what happened to him?

All god fathers fight for their pockets and their fame and not for the masses. Look at how Ambode phased out despite all his good works in Lagos state. Aside his nonsense landscape project which left many places dirty, the guy did his best and you would wonder why he was pushed out despite his loyalty.

The so called god fathers are former governors. And you are the present governor, so why become so afraid of them? is it not ridiculous that a man Adams Oshiomole despised so much in the last election has now become his best bride? Where then is the philosophy, where is the ideology? No interest of the people served. Despite how much I didn't like Chimaroke, his fight with Jim Nwobodo made me like him a bit.

Political god fathers are common criminals that should be stoned. Obaseki have tried to put up a fight like a man even though I don't know much of him in delivering good governance.

How did he win the first election and then govern for 4 years without this issue?

BTW, I sense Oshiomole's camp having a hand in this.
They want to use it to disqualify him from contesting for the primaries.

Bros,let's be objective,u don't bite the fingers that fed you.am a Bini man and we all in Benin knows Obaseki family as a betrayer family,his great grand father was among those that sold Oba ovoranwen nogbaisi to the white during the invasion of the Benin empire.oshiomhole was selfish,he denied his deputy ticket thinking Obaseki is the man.even the cousine to Obaseki(Don-Pedro Obaseki)warned the APC leaders then that they will regret fielding Obaseki.bros,this is a lesson to all of us,never you try to outsmart your master and he got his political calculations wrongly.

(b) a person to whom this section applies shall not be arrested or imprisoned during that period either in pursuance of the process of any court or otherwise; and

(c) no process of any court requiring or compelling the appearance of a person to whom this section applies, shall be issued:

Provided that in ascertaining whether any period of limitation has expired for the purposes of any proceedings against a person to whom this section applies, no account shall be taken of this period of office.

(2) The provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall not apply to civil proceedings against a person to whom this section applies in his official capacity or to civil or criminal proceedings in which such a person is only a nominal party.

(3) This section applies to a person holding the office of President or Vice-President, Governor or Deputy ; and the reference in this section to “period of office” is reference to the period during which the person holding such office is required to perform the functions of the office.
