It's just lack of understanding...

I'm Ibo but married to a Yeruba girl...

My colleagues then in UBA PLC we're against it...

My friends we're against it...

My pastor and brethren we're against it...

My own people in the village said I was too young to get married...

I even have to buy 406 Peugeot full option for my daddy to appears them.

I ignored them because:

1.The day my Manager told us that they're bringing a female staff for the branch(As I heard, for years no female staff in that branch). I just heard a voice: "that's your wife"...

2. I have been a virgin(no girl relationship). My younger ones even had girl friends in secondary schools...

NB: I never knew her tribe, age, color, height etc but I do know one thing... my wife will report in the next five working days...

When she resumed, I didn't like her...because she wore Jezebel materials...and I said: how could God gave me this kind of girl to marry ( Lagos girl that has opened eye finish). I thought she would dress like a deeper lifer.

Anytime my supervisor goes on leave, I do take over as the next in command. I always torment her life with my authority. So that, she would in turn hate me too. She was too patient. The more I command her the more she likes and respects me more than other staff members..
It took me about one year and six months before I proposed to her... she immediately resigned and we got married.

Today, she's more holy than me...We have 3 kids.

No man has the right to detect whom the fellow man marries ....Unless they're still feeding him.

God Bless

A lady whose name goes by Adeolar shares what the tribal difference has cost her in finally hooking up with her man, I can't imagine in 2020, 21st century that we still have men whose love lives are controlled by their parents and that we still have parents who preside over the love lives of the children, it is so lugubrious.

Why you no abuse Chioma and snowwhite for being 4th baby mamas to Yoruba men with children from 3 women already.
You people need help, if you are not condemning your women for having female children, you are against potential daughters in law. A thread was here last month where even an Ebonyi man was rejected. Shame!
I'm telling you. No ShADe. They need to be Called Out

I know what am talking about.. Those who fake it will be revealed by his/her persistence admiration of the tradition by an event or circumstances. Tradition has a force who speak for it. From the story, we see the guy's family are deeply rooted, dictated and directed by tradition, not God..

Its good you escaped the trap of tradition to follow God's will. Shalom

Somebody said, you should unlove him and move on with your life, I don't blame the son I blame the parent for listening to fake albino lamurdi cownu on ipob fm...

We have good, hard-working and wonderful Ibos doing their business legitimately everywhere in the country, unlike the scammer lamurdi cownu who has equally brainwashed some online micreants on nairaland..

You are a fool for mentioning Nnamdi kanu don't worry he will soon achieve his goal in life which is BiAfra and you wouldn't hear him again.

probably the mom saw beyond the tribe but had to use it to send her away,

if this guy married this type of lady and maybe loses his job and she becomes the bread winner, the whole world will know she is feeding him

If igbo men list the things they have seen from tribalistic Yoruba parents, you would be shocked.

I read the thread and saw one igbo man complaining that the mother of his Yoruba fiancee called her in his presence and asked her if she know what she is doing by dating an igbo.

The illiterate mother didn't know the guy hears Yoruba.

So true, I've seen this happen a lot. A typical Yoruba lady's choice of partner has been greatly limited to just her tribe and Edo state, at the mere mention of you just dating an Igbo guy, everyone you know will start giving unsolicited advice.

The truth is that we're all guilty of this tribal prejudice when it comes to marriage one way or another, we tend to forget that marriage is not a business venture, it's more of a life journey towards emotional and spiritual fulfillment. And in this kind of journey it doesn't matter what tribe or country you spouse comes from, what matters most is your compatibility tendencies.
