I've wanted to learn something about programming for a while now (python preferably), although i know next to nothing about it. But i don't know how or where to start. I would have enrolled somewhere if i had ascess, resources. Can you help?? Like can i learn on my own using the web(like youtube)? Where can i get helpful materials. Thanks
You can start by watching tutorials on YouTube, that's how most developers started. Just watching videos online without laying hands on projects won't help.
If you can enroll in a class; interactive class, I'd advise that.

The two languages have their popularity in different areas. Java is popular in Enterprise Apps and Android while Python has its ground in Machine Learning which is currently reigning in software development. So, the question is what do you want to major in? Your interest will define which one to learn first and later on you can consider the other. But it is worthy to note that it takes a dedicated heart and persistence to be a software developer.

Happy learning Happy coding.
Thanks alot. How do I get started?

To learn data science with real life applicable projects, I recommend edwisor.com. kaggle is another excellent platform to learn and test your mettle. But please, be realistic with your expectations, your cannot expect to Learn R, Python and SQl all in one month. Give your self time to master the syntax of each language.
Anyone interested R can reach out to me for learning materials.

Kindly help with the materials

I started learning SQL from youtube few weeks back but I am having issues installing mysql software, i already downloaded the web installer but I can't seem to move past the products stage.

If only there can be a whatsapp group for easy mentoring and interactiveness.
planning to move to python for data analysis but not making progress in mysql is drawing me back

To be honest both app and web developing, I was stuck between furthering my knowledge on web development, like learning higher stuff like jquery or sql or just looking a bit into app development like having a bit knowledge of Java and c++.

The issue I had to contend with is lack of motivation, I was already convincing myself that tech skills were useless to someone in the medical field.

I beg to differ. The greatest impact of Technology that is yet to be fully uncovered lies in healthcare.

The awesome potentials of Technology in healthcare are endless so develop without limits.

Perfect.

So what can I use it for?

Just started learning it. Been 3 weeks now. It's not easy after working during the day, one starts programming at night.
You can use it for web development, and data analysis too
Good luck
