seunmsg: Bros, you dey mind them..when most of the institutions in their region is nothing to write home about...is it lecturer that is only settlement or blocking he sabi...or students that all they know is arm robbery, kidnapping and prostitution ..if you meet most of the graduate from that region during service year, you will pity Nigeria future. That's why I referred to them as 'literate illiterates' cos they pass through school but school didn't pass through them.. Is it not someone that read and digest a writeup, that will give a reasonable comment? Some of them here, will wait for their fellow bigots to comment and follow suit, they wouldn't even read the post. See! Just leave them to be expressing their foolishness online. To say they are half-baked sef is an understatement cos Some of them were only expose to the oven heat while the rest weren't even close to the oven. 1 Like 1 Share |

Omooba77: Yes as long as you are making money in that country you are liable to be taxed on the profit earned in that country. I mean this concept is as ancient as the stone age 1 Like |

gideonvalor98: You are always tribalistic. How much does text message /call cost now after tax? Who is paying for it. Increase in DSTV due to tax, South Africans are paying for it? When we reason, lets do it educatively and objectively. When government start taxing facebook and the rest, it means you spend more on data, which will be bore by your pockets. In a capitalist economy, tax regime is bore by the consumer, thereby increasing the cost of goods and services. Sentiment does not solve any issue. In developed countries people get tax rebates yearly. Even travellers get tax returns for some items bought at malls at the airports. |

What gave the gov. Inspiration to tax social platforms when they haven't settled present global cases in the country yet. We think absurd, no better plans for our country, all we're after is profit. |

slimfit1: Nobody is insulting you. Truth is truth. No country in the world will function normally without taxes. Don't give your country away my brother. Don't allow yourselve to be colonized. Nomatter what happens, you are a Nigerian first!. Learn not to carry your family problems to a foreigner to sove for you. They will only laugh at you. If you reside outside Nigeria, you will understand. Nomatter what happens Nigeria is still your country. Atleast, Nigeria gives you a home and a sense of belonging. Nevertheless, we have to engage our leaders and fight for our right. That's how other countries do. No sane person sales his or her country out. We will solve our problems internernally. In a united fashion without foreigners. The u.s.a will never let a foreigner solve their problem. Why should you?.. See eeh am not encouraging our politicians. But they do what they do because we encourage them. And if its a foreigner, he will do worst! Be a good ambassador of your country. Nomatter what. Never ever make the mistake of thinking that a foreigner has your best interest. Its a lie.. Example is globacom. Did you not see how mtn was doing us before glo came into the mix. Glo is a Nigerian company. They were the first to start supporting local artists. Look at Shoprite. Do you know that almost all there goods are imported from south africa. Do you know why? Its because they only care about your money, not your wellbeing. They don't care about you. Look at what they are doing to our people in south africa. Eventhough glo network is not so good, i will still pick them because that is what your average American will do. Why? Because they will never allow themselves to be colonized. Brother, lets stop self hate and love ourselves. That is the only way we can be respected. If the foreigner sees that you are united, they will run. Trust me. You become invincible to them. Love yourself brother. |

A lot of people need to educate themselves first before they comment on issues they know little to nothing about. Don't just comment for commenting sake. Think deeply about the issues and then your opinion will count. How does taxing the big techs increase the cost oy your data for God's sake? Every company that makes money in any country or autonomous land or island should pay tax. The issue shouldn't be about paying tax but rather how do we manage the tax revenue well and make politicians account for it. Don't let hatred blind you... Learn from those who know better than you. It is called humility. |
Re: FG To Tax Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, Others by gideonvalor98(m): 10:34am On Jun 08, 2020 |
Omooba77: Nigeria's vat is one of the lowest in Africa. Since our main source of foreign exchange has got a big hit and our foreign reserve and excess crude oil acct. Is not healthy, looking for other means to sustain the economy is inevitable - VAT, loans and some other means to generate income internally (IGR). Dstv , mtn pay taxes to Nigeria government and I'm sure they will get some tax reliefs in a time like this. Do you want to tell me that facebook don't pay tax to some of these foreign countries? Do you know how much Facebook make in Ads only? The amount they make on giving out our datas to companies for research, marketing etc...do you know how much jack mia of alibaba, Jeff bezos of amazon etc make via mini importations? Look it is a normal thing which should have been implemented way back but, how the FG will go about it - in terms of remittance or compliance as stated by PWC is the main issue now. |
