A Toyota sedan will be valued about the same anywhere in the world. A cleaner in the USA will comfortably buy a new toyota sedan after one or two years, while ur office worker will not be able to even after 15 years of savings. Why is tokunbo prevalent, like 95 percent of the market?

Are you sure you know what you are saying?

Cool down and learn.

An average cleaner earns 24k usd
After tax u are left with 20k (this for Alabama u can check for other states here
https://us.icalculator.info/salary-calculator/alabama.html)

Rent in Alabama per month: 300 to 400 usd for cheap apartment. Plenty examples online, remember everything is listed online koro koro.

200 to 300 on food if u eat homemade food and also know where to buy it cheap

100 to 140 on electricity. Even less sef.

In short, u can manage 1000 to 1100 usd per month.

So, u have about 7000 left every year for 3 years, that is 21000. I ask again, howmuch is a new Toyota sedan?

People take loans because their culture is designed for people to spend unnecessarily. Enough jolification they there, that doesn't mean that u can't save money.

In Nigeria, the same cleaning job pays u 15k to 20k naira a month. Even if u no dey touch ur salary for years u no fit do anything meaningful. If una want keep devaluing, ok.

For those concerned. Focus on the goal. Put your ear on the ground andavoid unnecessary distraction so you will not be left carrying the can.

It look to me like a sponsored article from ABCON. It has been circulating since how many days now? ABCON wants dollar from CBN.
The CBN doesn't need to warn anybody, they should just flood the market with dollars and crash the rate.

I wonder who they warned in 2017 February before they crashed rates from 520 to 360 in days.
They are looking for who to come and sell them cheap dollar because of panic.
impossible!
And BDCs resuming still don't mean that much because it all depends on how much fx CBN gives them, which nobody knows till now.
What if CBN gives $10k per BDC?
What will now happen? grin

Seplat paid their dividend last week using $1 to N360.50k as the conversion rate for shareholders in Nigeria, I guess Airtel will also do the same

Well you can't blame them,it's for their own benefit because they would have paid more naira to local investors using the current market realities for fx.
I'm sure you would do the same thing if you were the chairman of their board so as to enrich your company and yourself, abi?

ETI and Seplat used to pay in dollars, until when CBN told them to stop about 3 to 4 years ago. They can pay dollars to those who imported dollars into the country for the purchase of the companies' share, that is foreign Investors or Nigeria Investors who paid dollars for the investment

I see.
I'm sure they are glad the CBN did this, else it would have been bad for them now to pay naira investors with dollars.
Why did they even do that in the first place?
Strange if you ask me.

They make money in dollars, paying in dollars would not have been a big deal, at least $40 million would have been in the system for shareholders based in Nigeria.

The CEO would have gotten $4.5 million dividends, but would be paid the Naira equivalent at $1 to N360.50k unless if he made his Investments in dollars

Let's be honest with ourselves as human beings.
Would you be comfortable in paying a naira investor now in dollars when you know you can use that same dollars and get more naira, pay the investor and still have huge reserves left for yourself?
Maybe when things were stable yes.
But now, nobody will be happy to do it if we are being honest.

Reason I always advise against this.Dorm account is useless in times like this.

GTB is the best for dorm accounts in Nigeria, I don’t think any bank comes close. I successfully transferred over 5k today without any problems although cash withrawals was not available..

Lol.. I thought some folks here were very confident dollar would crash soon. Some even said below 350. Now CBN and ABCON are threatening speculators instead of flooding everywhere with dollars. Hilarious

Most aboki prefer transfer to cash. So just transfer to their local accounts and get your naira.

US if you have the means(their residence or citizenship) so you can get aza or use someone you can trust like a blood relation based over there that has legal stay to operate an account there in a good income bracket with good account history, not cleaners that $10k credit will raise all sorts of suspicions grin
That way when things go bad in Nigeria,to bring your funds back and enjoy naira gains will be very easy.
Third option is to use azamen but it's very risky as them dey chop people money steady.
