But this is expensive, at as that time shocked
very expensive.....considering naira to $1 being around N80 in 1992....current value would have been 43k ×6 currently considering higher import duty and higher VAT

1st,I am not Igbo and I stand by the truth. Everybody, the he igbos made mistakes in the past. Voting for Shagari against the great Awo,a fellow southerner, was a mistake,a blunder. But you cannot altogether blame them for not voting enmasse for Awo,for how could they have voted for, supported Awo,who not too long ago, showed the enemy the only way to destroy them in the civil war?!?!

How do you expect the igbos to accept Awo after all he did to them and their children during the civil war?!
If you were in their shoes, you will do same.

That was past then, now everybody knows buhari and his evils but you do called Sophisticated people still went ahead, simply cos you have beef with the Igbos, you went ahead and brought him to power in this present era of civilisation that we are!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm wonders shall never end!!!

You say "everyone have moved on,why haven't they?"

Are you yorubas not the one that should answer that question?

Atiku had more votes in the west than in the east, what happened to your beloved buhari?!
What does that now prove?!

And as long as I'm a southerner from the SS, everything that happens in the south concerns me and my generation.
That's the way of life for you yorubas,if it's bad for the SE or SS,it's not you business!
You forget that anything good or bad, that happens to any part of the south will surely have a spill all over the south in the long run otherwise, why will yorubas now give atiku more votes than the east did, what happened to their beloved buhari?
Be honest, are you happy with be buhari?
Would you want someone like him to bear the rule over you and your generation?

Please Igbos never voted for Shagari in 1979 or 1983. You seem to have read too many Lagos-Ibadan express way propaganda media.
Shagari, Awo and Zik were the major three contenders for the presidency in 1979 and 1983.
Awo and Shagari had Igbos as VP. But the Igbo candidate was Zik of NPP and he cleared more than 80% of the votes casted in East Central states.
NPN of Shagari won the election, but they didn't have enough numbers in the Senate or house assembly to form a clear majority, so they negotiated with Zik NPP and went into a coalition government in the Senate and house of representatives.
If Awolowo had won, he would have still gone into coalition with Zik NPP because his party wouldn't have had enough numbers in the NASS to form majority and he already had an Igbo man by name, Umeadi as his VP.
It's no secret that by 1979, the Yoruba and North gang up forged during the civil war against the East was at its death throes and both groups could not tolerate each other, hence were left to scramble for Igbo support to outdo each other in 1979.

Ziks VP was professor Ishaya Audu, an Hausa man.

Awolowo VP was Phillip Umeadi an Igbo man

Shagari VP was Alex Ekwueme, an Igbo man.

It's all in the link I shared.

In 1983, Awolowo dropped Phillip Umeadi and went for an Hausa man, Mallam Mohammed Kura, as his VP.

Of course, you wouldn't know because the Yorubas have wielded the media for far too long and used it to damage and paint Ndiigbo black.

It's only internet that leveled the play field and allowed young Igbos like myself start debunking age long lies about Igbos spurned by Lagos-Ibadan express way gutter media propaganda machine.

You were beginning to get the point by stating that some yorubas stood by him while some betrayed him but you fell victim to your prejudices along the way.

You mentioned ABN and Nzeribe but omitted the other ABN chieftain named Abimbola Davies who was the one who actually filed an injunction in court to annul the election of his own kinsman. It is the case that Abimbola Davies filed that IBB used as reason to annul it.
Abimbola Davies' injunction was inconsequential. IBB was under intense pressure from forces more powerful than him, so he was going to annul the election anyway. And just so you know, Davies eventually backtracked & confessed to Abiola before going into exile. Peace !

You shagari nko?
Another Fulani cheesy
So because you were trounced in your Igbo didn't vote Abiola shit, you shamelessly resorted to Igbos voted Shagari. Hope you won't run when we present the 1979 election result. Igbos voted for Azikiwe’s NPP Imo, Anambra, Plateau and Borno going that way. The same way you voted for Awo’s UPN was same way we voted for Zik’s NPP. When they tell you guys to read you don't, you own is to swallow the Lagos-Ibadan expressway rumours they tell you.

Yes Shagari had an Igbo running mate, but it was in the present south-south that he got his votes, as a result he compensated them with the Senate President through Joseph Wayas. The NPP produced the speaker by virtue of Shagari’s magnanimity and political sagacity.

The only time Igbos voted north enmass was in 2007 for Yardaua. In the 1958 and 1964 elections we voted NCNC who won with the highest votes but had to share power with NPC with the majority seats in parliament. No matter how bad you want to spin this anti-Igbo narratives, you must understand that Igbos know you Yoruba’s for who you are. The last Yoruba man the Igbos voted for (and are now regretting it because of your bad mouth) will forever be Obasanjo. Until you reciprocrate Igbo fairness to your sons, no Igboman till the dissolution of Nigeria will ever vote a Yoruba again. Igbos are fed up with evil people.
