i bought this 2010 Benz GL450 4matic in February this year from another user. The former owner used to drive it to work everyday (less than 5km) and do other errands (picking up of his kids from school and travelling).

however, when ownership was transferred to me, i decided to make it an occasional vehicle i.e. parties and church which is only on weekends just to reduce the cost of fueling and maintenance.

But i met someone (a benz user) who advised against such practice that Benz are like planes designed to be driven everyday and not parked for long. Is this assertion true?

Also, is my current practice of not driving it everyday bad for the car? What are the risks involved?

I will like to add that you also need to floor the gas pedal sometimes..do this only if you can tame the beast

Get the VIN and do a search online. All details will show up. Nigerian car sellers can be deceptive especially with the W202's cos they dont want u to know how old the car is?

N.B: A W202 that is shipped from the USA with model year 1999...is actually a 1998 model manufactured in 1998 in Germany and shipped to the USA.

I dont think they had plants in the USA until like 2000. The merger with Chrysler was a major gain in this path.

I learnt this in an interesting way yesterday, after over 3 years of owning a w202

Drove almost 35 kms with the parking brakes on. Mechanic just finished replacing the brake cable and parking brake shoes. Fairly straightforward, easy and cheap job.

Here we go again! Bro any car can be driven for a considerable distance with a stuck parking brake and you know this. I agree the Benz has plenty cool gizmos that make it fun to do so, a couple beeps here and there - limp mode in order not to exceed 45 mph.

I have never seen this model with a "km" speedometer. Also, why did you not move the gear to "P"?
