Those that drove Abiola's sheep to the crushing jaw of Abacha's hyena are still muscling us today. His mandate was completely raped even though he was online.

IF ONLY BUHARI AND HIS SUPPORTERS CAN COMPREHEND THE BELOW EXCERPT FROM THE SPEECH “Enough of military rule. We are sickened to see people who have shown little or no personal achievement, either in building up private businesses, or making success of any tangible thing, being placed in charge of the management of our nation’s economy, by rulers who are not accountable to anyone. |

PapaBaby: LegendHero:The truth of the matter is Nigerians, for the most part, betrayed Abiola. When the millitary and their collaborators were deliberately refusing to handover, instead of standing up to them, we got divided along tribal lines, as usual, and let Abacha come and take over., for another five years of suffering. The point is, most Nigerians did not consider democracy worth dying for. Maybe it is because we are a poor country, and if you get shot by the Mopol , who looks after your loved ones, but the truth is, we think that democracy only benefits the winner and his immediate family, not the nation as a whole. That's why most of us just sat down and watched as Abiola fought alone, with some 'mad' people for his mandate. Even now, Nigerians don't get why we have to work towards a democratic government, which is why some 21 years after we got rid of our army rulers, we are still complaining of bad governance. Even now, the opposition to Buhari is just as sectional as the oppositon to GEJ was. Very few people are opposed to Buhari because he is not running the country well, most oppose him because of sectional or 'what they can benefit from' Even now, people are arguing for restructuruing or secession based on what they will benefit, not on fairness or justice. |

Openbusiness:God forbid military rule where people like Ken Saro Wiwa and Abiola can be killed with impunity. Where there was no banking industry or telecoms. Where going a whole year without electricity was common and rampant, where damn near everybody in the country was broke except military men. Tuah! God forbid. |

kikero:There is nothing the military regimes have done in this country, that these bastard civilian dictators calling themselves democracy have not done even worst! You're talking of freedom of speech, how many people have been arrested, oppressed, jailed, clamped down, threatened, even murdered all over this country for speaking against these so called democratic governments of this era? How many times have they suppressed the press from reporting things as it is? Abeg, the guys of today are worst |

The south westerner made Nigeria ungovernable for Babangida so much so that he resigned. The prodemocracy movement was so widespread that military could only fight by resulting to assassination, remember Kudirat Abiola who was shot by Abacha gun men. NADECO consistently clamour for June 12 mandate and OPC was formed to enforce seccession if Nigeria did not return to democracy, meanwhile the Igbo land was as quiet as still water.
