Do you know that the first cinema in Lagos was been used by the Yorubas to show their movies. Also, the NTA Ibadan ( the first TV station in Africa) was already showing our movies, TV was a rocket science to the Igbos.

Pls tell me again, who the right to patency?

The quality of discussion has dropped over the years on nairaland

A good thread has been spoilt by tribalism

It's just disgraceful. It's only childish exchange of abuses we see now on NL and the owner & his mods seem happy with this unfortunate direction.

Congrats to Mo Abudu.

Away from the tribal banter already going on regarding this post, if u are a lover of literature , pls read Lola shoneyi’s “The secret lives of Baba Segi’s Wives” Great story! I kid u not.

It’s all about polygamy, how some wives bring in illegal children, hatred ,adultery and so on. It’s a great story!

Kudos to Mo Abudu for this great achievement. I can’t wait to watch this literature on Netflix . Weldone ma!

Look at this dead brain zombie. I said when Yorubas were running the show, Igbos were still running around naked.

Did you know that in the 1960s, the first cinema in Nigeria which was in Lagos was already showing Yoruba movies?

The first TV station in Nigeria (NTA Ibadan) was already showing Yoruba movies when TV to Igbos was a rocket science. So pls tell us when Igbos got their TV and when living in bondage was made.

Please Efulefu, a product of baby factory from the potopoto region, kindly tell us who has the right to patency?

Oga take several seats backwards with that your often regurgitated rubbish. You should be ashamed that despite having all at your disposal , for years you lacked the imagination to make headway.

You lots ran around like headless chickens pretending to be busy until the guys at Upper Iweka decided it was showtime. Fiam! Nollywood was birthed and for years you stayed in the background like Ghana and the rest of Africa watching how it is done before you found your feet. Welcome to the party, but please don't irritate rational minds abeg.

In case you do not know , our grand fathers also organised village drama, dance , and all in the village square during moonlight play. Based on your logic, Nollywood started from them.

Ofe tell ! I will take you down memory lane. Appointing pionerr heads of Yoruba Universities was one of the tribal stunt that Nnamdi Azikwe pulled when the Igbos had the administrative, political and military powers.

Yorubas have always had enough academic astute sons of the soil who could be appointed. But because Azikwe felt he could do and undo which eventually led him to a political disgrace, he decided to appoint his own kinsmen.

I'm sure you know very well when Yorubas were bagging their degrees and professorship, you guys were still running around naked in the bush.

Big Congratulations!
I hope someone will learn a lesson that, instead of using Billions to compete with CNN, you can partner with the likes of Mo and John Momoh to help build and grow NTA.

Which our Igbo brothers and sisters were crying about AMVCA apart from Zubby Michael that stated that, the first Living in Bondage was not acknowledged but its sequel won many awards at the last AMVCA.

When we don't know what to comment, we start looking at irrelevant aspects...
Nollywood was convinced by the igbos tho little aided by the yorubas, until recently it was purely an Igbo movie industry, majority of Nollywood actors remains the Igbo....Nobody owns Nollywood, it's a Nigerian movie industry and belongs to all...
So there's nothing like Yoruba own Nollywood.
IGBOS own Nollywood but they welcomed everyone into Nollywood.

Look at this Golliwog spewing trash like someone who just escaped from Yaba left. We lacked imagination and yet you people decided to jump on the train to tap from our creativity you now termed yours.

No wonder you guys are known for shoddy, low quality, brainless movies until Yorubas decided to show you how it is done - again.

You said Yorubas took back stage? Everyone can see how delusional you are. Yorubas have always had Joke Silver, Olu Jacobs, Omotola Jolade etc.

Monkey and gorilla may claim oneness, monkey will always be monkey and gorilla will always be gorilla.

Oh my goodness, if you people want to fight all day, do so but stop lying. I have been following Mary Remmy Njoku since the early start of ROK as I am a fan of their movies. Mary is from Nsukka, she's mentioned that during an interview. You guys are simply appalling.
