I had a surprise today. While walking through Onitsha town today. My eyes beheld a surprise. A 4.5m offset dish in a scrap yard. The type banks uses for their server. Just behind it too is a 2m offset dish too at the same scrap yard. I was hiding my excitement so that i wont tip them off on my excitement. The 4.5m is petalized while the 2m dish is not. But there was a problem. One of the petal arm of the dish is missing. I told them though non challatly to look for the missing parts that i might do them a favour to come and pick the scraps up. To me. It is no longer a scrap material. Coming days or weeks will surely reveal more.
Did you eventually get the 4.5m offset

Good evening people. I'm a newbie on satellites and need some help/clarifications please.

So my installer used 2lnbf on a DSTV sized dish. Judging from the picture and the channels on my list, I'd say I have channels like MBC (Nigcomsat I presume) and JoyTV channels (I don't know the name of the satellite *someone should please tell me the satellite name*)

Now to my questions, Using the picture
1. Whats the name and freq of the 3satellites the Lnbf is carrying (I'm sure one is Nigcomsat, but I don't know the name of the other two)
2. I have a spare Lnbf, where and how can I place it on the dish to recieve more channels
3. I have a Powersat 999SM decorder HD, how can I use it to track the third satellite since I don't have a satellite finder device.

Kindly answer to any of the questions that you can. Thank you

PS: pardon my choice of words, like I said I'm just a newbie and I hope you understand my questions*

Thankyou again for your answers in anticipation

it could be nigacomsat, because it has those channels too . If I want to do nigacomsat, I first track Dstv because it seems to be the simplest to track and one easily see already installed dish around as a guide, after getting Dstv, lower down your dish, you will get nigacomsat, then adjust the dish to increase your signal . As at my last search, most of the interesting channels are no more showing but all mbc channel that is there are still working.

MBC is on Nigcomsat at 42°E
JoyTv is on Astra 2F at 28.2° E
Media 7 is on Badr at 26°E

Okay thankyou. Going by what you said, I have Nigcomsat 42e (primary) and joyTv 28.2e (secondary-with the Lnbf tied a few inches below the 42e on the dish arm)
My question now will be
1. where can I place a third Lnbf to get the media7. Plus can you list some of the channels on it.
2. Can the JoyTv and media7 be tracked using one Lnbf...if YES, can u kindly guide me on how, maybe where to place the Lnbf and all.

Thank you for your response in advance

Media 7 has some Ghanian Channels like
ABC TV,
Silver TV,
Kingdom Life Network,
HSM TV
AFA Sports, Mission Africa TV.

You can get Joy Tv on the same lnb, although it's a little bit tricky.
To successfully combine the two aforementioned
satellite TV providers channels in one LNB, you
must first and foremost track Joy Tv with
Frequency: 12525, Polarization: V, Symbol rate:
30000, and try your best to hit the maximum Joy
tv signal strength.
Now input the Media 7 Frequency: 10970,
Polarization: V, Symbol Rate: 27500, and lift the
satellite dish a bit upward and you will hit Media 7
signal.
After scanning, exit the menu and all the two
satellite TV providers channels will be available to
enjoy. yunnoo

Thanks @SlyCharlie for your response so far.
But one more thing please, What if I don't wanna use one Lnbf to get both, And rather choose to get a fresh lnb to track the media 7.

Can you please guide me on how I'm gonna do it(maybe how and where to place the Lnbf and all), having in mind that Nigcomsat 42e is my primary satellite and the JoyTv is secondary

PS: Kindly find attached the position of my dish if it'll be of any aid for you to answer me.
Thankyou

Since Media 7 in on Badr @26°E it's not so far from Multi Tv at 28.2°E.

After tracking JoyTv with one lnb.. with Nigcomsat as primary, place the 3rd lnb slightly below JoyTv.
then track using Media 7 Tp. u should hit green.
Remember it's just a small deviation between 26° and 28.2° so the 3rd lnb should be just under 28.2.
the dish position should be adjusted just a little to the right when tracking, but it'll still fac the same direction generally.
Remember 90cm(DStv) dish and above for quality reception

Evening bro....
lele4u:

How To Scan Any Free To Air(FTA) Channels On DSTV Explorer Receiver

First of all, remove the ‘LNB in’ cable at the back of the DSTV decoder.

Power ON the decoder and ignore the notification messages displayed on the TV screen indicating ‘No Signal’.

Press the DSTV or MENU or Blue button on the decoder’s remote controller.

While on the menu, Navigate to ‘SETTINGS’.

Choose ‘SATELLITE SETTING’.

Select ‘ADDITIONAL NETWORKS’.

Choose ‘NETWORK 1’.

Switch ‘Enable Network’ to ‘YES’.

Now you will notice that other information in the network 1 window is editable.

Scroll down to “frequency” and input the satellite TV free to air (FTA) frequency you want to Scan.

Scroll down to “symbol rate” and input the symbol rate figure.

Change the polarization to that of the satellite you want to track.

Check the signal bar for signal status

select ‘SCAN THIS’.

Please wait for the scanning to complete.

After the completion of the scanning; Dial ‘221’ on the remote control.

Press and go to the “Channel List” and you will see the free to air (FTA) channels added to the list.

Select the channel you want to watch and enjoy.
