Bro it's not too early o. It's an advantage sef to start learning the German language and to familiarize yourself with all the procedures. You can use this time to get all the visa requirements in place so that your journey will be stress free.

Yea, I'll do that.
I also registered for different online course on programming, to add to my skills in order to expose me to more student jobs while studying(and also for my personal development tho).
Thanks for the advice

That's a very nice move. Germany needs more IT workers like programmers and web developers.

It will really help cos there an IT job will pay more as a student

I hope you're planning to start learning German?

This is a post on Facebook by one frustrated Nigerian who also had enough of it.

""What John Zibiri said about Nigeria
I worked and lived in Abuja for 18 years. I ran my own private company from 2001 until 2014.
Two million of the likes of Buhari cannot change Nigeria.
Everything is wrong with Nigeria.
The Director won't give you contract except you pay up front .
The banks won't give you loan except you concede a certain percentage.
The man supervising the contract won't pass the job except you play ball.
The clerk won't pass your file for payment except you rob his palm.
The accounts department won't raise your payment voucher or cheque unless you see them. I can go on and on.
The worst thing is that it has become a norm that nobody sees anything wrong with.
If you think otherwise, they begin to think you are sick and not normal.
If you try to stand in their way, you put your life at risk.
If you get killed there is no justice system in place to seek redress and bring the perpetrators to book.
The police is corrupt , the Judiciary is the same.
Even the religious circle is not spared.
Everything in Nigeria revolves around corruption.
Nobody cares about anybody. No law and order.
I looked from my left to right, everybody is only desperate about one thing "money".
They will kill anybody and anything that stand between them and money.
I am an electrical engineer with MNSE and COREN. The system don't care about my qualifications.
Distribution and transmission jobs are given to alhajis, pastors, friends and relatives without any basic skills.
I started asking myself, how do I convince my kids that education and hard work is rewarding?
When fools, agberos and touts are running the country from the local govt to the Presidency.
Is this what my four sons will also go through? In 2014 I decided I have had enough. I decided I was leaving. I migrated to Australia with my family.
Don't put yourself in harm way for any reason.
The problem of Nigeria is in the hands of Nigerians living in Nigeria.
Try starting a gate house in your village, everybody wants to profiteer from it. The bricklayer, the carpenter, the mason and even your brother who claim to be supervising on your behalf.
They are corrupt, morally bankrupt and selfish.
Everybody there thinks about himself and nobody is thinking about Nigeria .
You don't have to be the one to go there to change anything.
Let those under the hammer start the revolution. I beg make you hear word.
This post is gonna anger a lot of my followers. I'm still gonna post it anyway.
*Analogy of OPPRESSORS & FOOLISH CITIZENS.
*(A case study of Nigeria citizens & their elected oppressors):
During the Soviet dictatorship of Joseph Stalin. He was a brutal dictator with mind of his own. On one fateful day, Stalin came to Politburo meeting with a live chicken. Standing in front of audience, He started to pluck the feathers of the live chicken off one by one.
The chicken trembled in pain, blood tricking out of its pores. It gave out grievous cries, but Stalin being a cruel dictator continued without remorse plucking the feathers out until the chicken was completely naked. After which, he threw the chicken on the ground.
The naked chicken was staggering in pain. Stalin goes into his pocket and from his pockets, he took out some chicken food and started to throw it at the poor & hapless creature.
The poor chicken in pain started eating and Stalin started walking towards his seat. As he walked away, he kept dropping some feeds on the floor & the chicken followed him and sat feeding from his feet.
Joseph Stalin then turned to members of his political party leadership.
He said, "This chicken represents the people".
"You must disempower them, brutalise them, beat them up, starve them and then leave them".
"If you do this, go into your pocket & give them peanuts when they are in that helpless and desperate situation, they will blindly follow you for the rest of their life, worshiping you".
"They will think you are a hero forever. They will forget that, you're responsible for their sorrowful situation in the first place."
Breath taking, isn't it ?
Now! Take a look at all the people some Nigerians are busy defending on social media.
Take a look at those they call their heroes.
They are the same people who plunged Nigeria into the situation she is.
They are the same people who are responsible for their predicaments.
Did you see the numbers of people that throng to Saraki's house during this Christmas period to go and collect peanuts?
Did you see the crowd that welcomed Ibori?
Your guess is as good as mine. And the likes of many others, we all know about.
Nigerians kill those they should defend and defend those they should kill!
Pass to all your contacts & let your government know we know.""

Well 200million people cant just wake up and vanish out of the country. Revolution is needed and will be a good start ..The citizen needs to fight out for themselves.

My advice to undergraduates is that you should start your search now. Make up your mind and invest your time into it. If If you want to go to a country that don't speak English, start learning their language immediately.

You might have 1 or 2 years left in university. If you start preparing early I can assure you that everything will be smooth when you are about to travel. If it's not an English speaking country, start learning the language immediately. You'll be very far in a year time. Nothing is impossible, you just lack the passion.

If you've have already finished school. Start researching immediately and gathering information even if you plan on migrating in the next 5 years.

You cannot be too prepared.

Viel Glück

Stay and fight. I'll contribute in the fight from abroad by tweeting.

Since 1990s people have been talking about revolution, now we are here. Now people are talking about revolution, in 2030 we will be worse.

Stay and revolutionize, dear patriot

We would get experience and exposure abroad, then when you revolutionize the country we'll come back and rebuild.

Don't mind them. God knows I hate Nigerians above 40 with a very strong passion. These guys came in enjoyed the best Nigeria had to offer and then practically wrecked and destroyed everything and left nothing for the young generation.

They had full meals in the university, full chicken and milk. Posh jobs once they graduated. Our generation Chale E no easy. We are way poorer than our predecessors. Graduated into a recession and when you think things couldn't get bad coronavirus came.

Let them stay and build the Nigeria they destroyed.

You have no business in Nigeria if you are unemployed.
I'd recommended you save as much money as you can because that What you will need most.
It doesn't hurt to swap field,
Job openings are more in Stem and medicals fields.
While you are still here, Go get that job, and save.
start doing something to earn.
earning to Save,
saving to Jet out.
Nigeria does not deserve me!
I do not deserve Nigeria!
We do not deserve each other!

Remain blessed. May we succeed.
I finished with a BSc in psychology. Which stem field would you recommend that i switch to?

You don't know what you are saying. Maybe you will make sense with your "hate with passion" if you increase your age range or threshold, though it's never advisable to hate.

Nigeria started getting destroyed in the late 80's and early 90's onward, and those people who suffered the destruction of the country are Nigerians who are now in the age range > 40 and <55. These people were victims. Strike, lack of opportunities, cultism and all those negative stuff were at the peak then. They destroyed many people, very smart people. This was also the time when Nigeria started losing their best brains in LARGE AMOUNTS.

And no, these guys didn't have free meals, university full chicken, yadayadayada, just lool. They also did not have internet and some amenities to cry to the world, voice their opinions and take advantage of opportunities as we have today. I agree that things seem to be more challenging these days for the regular people, which are the majority, but things were not a "cake walk" for the age range I listed above - which interestingly belongs to the set of people you claim to hate.

So, you should adjust your hate threshold - though it is not advisable in any way to "hate Nigerians above 40". And desist from intersecting God and hate. Both don't mix. That's heresy.

And before someone shouts old man, I'm less than 40 but saw what happened to many people in the late 80's and early 90's to date, including to family members.

People are free to choose where they wish to live. It's their God given right, and I am serious about this.

You have power to alter your decisions, i.e. remain in Nigeria and refuse to live abroad. That's great and it's respectable. But it is also respectable if others decide to follow a different path

The training you received in your undergrad may not be enough to specialize yet. The problem with the econ training at undergrad is that it is not mathematically rigorous enough. However, I feel someone who has tried in Nigeria can put up a big fight in a competitive graduate program and scale through. But going straight to econometrics, you can't with your current background. Unless you're talking "applied microeconomics" which is essentially regression-style econometrics. That you can do.

Yes, if your GRE is around the range I stated and you have the >4.0 you said you have, and you're smart and extremely hardworking, then you indeed can get into a PhD, top 100. I told you, I will place you there. In addition to the requirements I stated, you would need strong letters from your professors praising you heavily, not just that you can get A in courses but that you have the potential to be a good researcher. If you can do boy boy work for your lecturers doing research, this is called research assistant, this will help.

In one word - you can get into a PhD econ in the US with your BSc plus other things stated
