Repelled cool They wear saying it aloud that they'll be back.

This is where I always fault the military if it is against our security ethics to chase them.
There are smart and experienced people among these terrorists too. After being chased several times by troops, I'm sure they would have planned for the possibility of being chased in this attack. Like mining the route they would escape through and reserving some of their forces to ambush whoever is pursuing them.
The airforce/Army Air wing should be in charge of pursuing these terrorists. Just imagine the havoc and Mi-35 armed with just rockets will wreck on their retreating columns(they will surely want to retreat orderly and in groups so as to avoid being easy pickings for troops on mop up operations)
Does anyone know whether the payment for the remaining MI35 helicopters is included in the budget? I heard they are ready for delivery.

https://www.urdupoint.com/en/amp/world/russia-finishes-order-for-7-mi-35-helicopters-814472.html

I think this is why this administration has not been looking towards Russia for weapons procurement.

The contract for the first 12 Mi-35Ms came before the U.S. put a new sanctions law into place. That law, the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), places sanctions on the Russian defense industry, as well as customers of Russian defense firms. While the U.S. has offered some countries waivers to enable them to procure Russian military equipment, Abuja is leery of getting ensnared in the sanctions regime.

If the Nigerian military is serious about ending this insurgency, they have to be actively and constantly developing new tactics, counter tactics to counter the terrorists tactics and then counter tactics to counter the terrorists counter to their own tactics. We have to be miles ahead of them.
Take for example, the idea of the super camps, it has been effective in making sure that these terrorists don't capture cities and towns but the terrorists have changed their objectives to counter that strategy, they avoid those super camps, attack wherever they want and disappear before troops can be deployed from the super camps. They've been using this to get more revenues that they will use in recruiting and purchasing new weapons. The tactics of the super camp has been countered and a new tactic has to be developed to make sure that the terrorists don't achieve their current objectives (getting funds to rearm and restrentghen)
If we are not careful, in few months time they will be attacking with anti-tanks and manpads. These weapons are for sale around us. Recently watched a video where a journalist interviewed a young Libyan selling weapons at his house, when asked who he sells this weapons to, he said to people who wants to defend their families from terror attacks yet this guy had rpgs and motar rounds for sale! Arms trade is one of the most popular businesses in Libya right now.

MEET THE NIGERIAN NAVY PERSONNEL WHO GUNNED DOWN FIVE ARMED ROBBERS IN CALABAR

Mohammed Mubarak is a sea man, a gallant marksman and a skillful Navy Personnel. His display during the encounter with armed men that attacked Uddy King Filling Station in Calabar some time ago has gained him recognitions and awards.

He recently received a Gold Medal award from the Eastern Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy in Calabar for displaying such gallantry and bravery act in bringing down the bandits.

Mubarak was said to have returned fire in the defence of himself and passerby and his courage and marksmanship even in the adverse conditions led to the killing of the 5-man gang and seizure of their weapons.

The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, who presented him with the Gold Medal Award, said the Gold Medal Award is for any personnel that distinguish themselves for bravery and gallantry.

If the Nigerian Navy or other Security agencies in the country can have skillful, gallant men like Mubarak, robbery and other criminal activities would reduce and peace returned to the country.

The issue of Robbery, Kidnapping and Killing has become a usual activity in the Country as the security system is porous, posing threat and fear in the minds of Nigerians as no one knows who could be the next victim

What we need is adequate air mobility and assets to protect this air mobility....imagine bht attacking a location.... 2 waves of 10 mi17 helicopters can easily drop heavily armed men of about 300 in 15 minutes by their flanks at letsp says 1km distance from the action and the men advance on foot to the objective....with mi25/35 protecting the deployment, immediately they troops are deployed the mi17, leaves the localtion...and their role shifts to close air support....with all these variables on ground, they can push bht to preplanned kill zone....whereby artillery can finish them off. I always say it, till we develop a massive heliborne means of moving troops, we will still be on a stalemate with this very fluid terrorist, unless, we can box them in a kill zone, when they come out in mass to attack . We will still be facing this same issues. Mind you, aircrafts dont provide CAS,when artillery or mortars are firing, they clear the area to avoid getting hit or caught up in an explosion or shrapnel.

You have spoken like a Child, Nigeria lost Bakassi but retained a deeper continental shelf, & a broader EEZ, there is no proven oil reserve of commercial quantity in the Peninsula so to what end are we fighting over a stretch of land into the ocean?

The greentree agreement requires the people are not evicted, sadly, Cameroon breached that agreement else those guys would've settled peacefully.

Speaking of military occupation by Abacha, that's an irresponsible reference point.
Abacha's strong man posture was no match for France in a proxy war, a nuclear power and a permanent UNSC member means France will win both militarily & diplomatically.
I laughed hard when you claimed nobody will fight for Cameroon, that's a very ignorant statement.

Cameroon in1961 did not sign any declaration of independence but pacté coloniele agreement in it France has offer of first refusal on all Cameroonian EEZ in exchange for security.
The only thing France needed was for Total SA to prove the Peninsula had oil in commercial quantity, in partnership with Porenco in 1993, the Seismic report was not impressive.
Under French advisory, Cameroon took the legal route.

If the Seismic data of that peninsular turned out positive, one French Amphibious operation will re-unite all Abacha soldiers with their creators, according to British intelligence at the time, France had no plans of occupying Bakassi alone but deep into cross river state down to Odukpani in the north, then occupy deep into the Atlantic ocean in the South.

The reason is to make it difficult for Nigeria to launch a reprisal, that will force Nigeria to go the diplomatic route and France with her veto at the UNSC will own cross river state forever.
Such was the tragedy OBJ averted. There was no front of that war Nigeria would've won.
This scenario would've played out again if OBJ didn't hand over, France will act under the pretext of enforcing intl law.

The precarious position Nigeria was at the time can not be compared with Israel from the 6 days war to the Yom-kippor war.
This is largely because Israel at the time won those countries militarily before occupying their lands, diplomatically, Britain & US had Israel's back at the UNSC. Conversely, Abacha was a diplomatic mess, from 1995 was under Commonwealth sanctions, UN was already preparing an embargo before his fortunante demise, consequently, you don't think Abacha will win France militarily in a proxy war.
The situations were different for Israel & Nigeria, nothing to compare.

Speaking of Israel, 38yrs after the Camp david accord of 1978 which moulded Egypt into a formidable military might, Israel lost the military advantage or at best was in a position where a military offensive with Egypt has become costly, quickly handed over the Sainai to Egypt.

Dont think for once Israel will occupy Golan heights if Syria was a formidable force with Russian diplomatic backing.

Sir, I love your analysis. You deserve to be followed.

How many terrorists are killed as a result of the airstrike

They are more to these than just airstrike. Boots on the ground is more beneficial than Airstrike.

Facts:
1) Isreal used cluster bomb on Hezbollah secured caves and there was little/no positive result.
2) Check the time Navy seals were pinned down on a mountain top by Terrorists dugged in a cave, they used airstrikes still, nothing..then ended up losing men(special forces including Rangers sent to their rescue). The men on ground had to destroy the dugged in position.

#Bootsongroundmatters.

Happy birthday in arrears.

Agreed without reservation

I have said this before air strikes give you limited impact when it comes to fighting an attrition war with insurgents who are very fluid and really engage with gorilla tactics.

Without boots on the ground, with a very clear TACTICAL STRATEGIC PLAN. You will have little impact.

You didn't understand me "properly", there was no place I wrote about preferring the Hilux to the Humvee. What I meant is, there's no difference between a normal /not armored /un-armoured Humvee and a Hilux. Haven't you seen a civilian Humvee on our streets? The difference is one is "tushed up" and the other is not.

When we talk of humvees l don't think anybody is talking about civilian variant but the uparmoured Humvee.

As regard 14.5mm caliber bullets and or 12.7 even our MRAP will not stop that particular calibre.

Boko and ISWAP fighters in the main have light weapon indeed 95% + of thier fighter will have the ubiquitous AK47.

So if you have armoured vehicles you have effectively mitigated against 95% of the threat against you. Then you have to find away to deal with the gun trucks, Rpg7's and IED's.

That will reduce DRASTICALLY our casualty rate in the first instance.

A average Nigeria Regular Soldier undergo S.E.R.E which include some basic krav maga, core kickboxing/boxing, i no fit talk Police sha o...

Distance between those service men (while on their knees) and their executors give them more advantage to disarming, eliminating and responsive shooting...

Meanwhile, they have slightest ratio of survival ( that's if the execution team is more than the two executors, the cameraman and possibly a driver) but they can still take at least two with them, before being shot dead, because if they disarm those terrorist, the terrorist will have no choice but to open fire on them. Then it depends on their luck...

Kneeling down, blindfolded without being locked is a bit weird, to see a force man like that

I have done all those training and more and that will not help you in a situation with volatile Jihadists with AK47's all around you.

You have been watching too many films real life my friend is VERY DIFFERENT.

Pray you don't fall into that situation.

What's the current maximum range of our rockets as opposed to the future projected yet to be realised in the near future range.

Wait! Let me get this straight, there was a gunfight for over 2hours and I'm seeing just two dead BHTs?

Reports have it we had lost 9 soldiers on that fateful evening and here we are with two dead BHTs?

Our NAF are really trying no doubt, but we must begin to see more overwhelming fire power from air, I saw some BHTs standing arounding an engulfing truck from the video, some were even strolling, these are suppose to be dead men walking. The twin-barrel GSh-23V 23mm cannon with 450 to 470 rounds of ammunition on those helos should be maximally utilized.

Read and understand, not just to comment, I said heavily armed and protected by mi25/45..... surely an automatic grenade luncher, has the range and firepower to destroy a heavy machine gun truck from a distance, a sniper can take out the gunner, the armed helicopters can destroy this vehicles too.....the work of this force, is not to engage and win the battle....the work is to apply pressure at a flank and PUSH, the bht into a kill zone left for artillery and mortars to finish off.... and this is a,secondary force introduced , not the primary force engaged by bht.

That is their modus operandi. Can we always sit duck and await their attacks due to their kind of modus operandi?

They followed through the Marte entrance and Monguno-Maiduguri entrance that even has a gate barricade and trench.

1) Those at the gate do they have communication gadget to know if a convoy approaching is that of the Military or ISWAP?

2) Do we need an Amoured tank or maybe some MRAPS to be stationed at such a gate? They killed some soldiers and CJTF at that gate same thing they did in January this year.

3) Is it allowed for Soldiers in the barracks to come out and engage them or the Soldiers have to wait till BH gets to the barracks. Some soldiers lost their lives trying to run from the various entry points back to the barracks.

4) should we build high towers for soldiers to observe convoys coming into the town from illegal routes? In Pulka for example Civilian JTF are stationed at the top of Some abandoned communication Mast. Once they notice movements they radio the Military to start firing Artillery towards that direction.

5) Do we need Helicopters for close mop-ups to ensure we not only smoke their vehicles but also smoke their lives?

The Nigeria Security heads should please sit up. We cannot continue sitting duck and popping champagnes after repelling these bastards.

We cannot be having same number of casualties between the our well trained Military and these dirty bastards.
