There are many products that can be used to alleviate the itching but you have to find the source of the itching.
It could be the water, the products you use or it could also be an allergic reaction to WATER called Aquagenic Pruritis or Aquagenic Urticaria (if there is a skin reaction, very rare)

Visit your nearest dermatologist for more help to determine the cause of the itch.

hey doc, how did you come to that useless/foolish/stupid conclusion without knowing the source of the pain?! do you sell a lot of these ASPIRIN tablets?
you have been advising EVERYBODY to use this bullshit swissgard "vitamin" product.
someone said he had arthritis: use swissgarde, someone had weak erection: use swissgarde, someone had staph: use swissgarde, someone had diabetesL use swissgarde, someone had hypertension:use swissgarde, someone had internal parasitic movement:use swissgarde, someone had premature ejaculation:use swissgarde, someone had bacterial vaginosis:use swissgard, i am waiting for you to tell someone that has HIV/AIDS to use swissgarde to cure them too!
i think we get the point that you don't really care about informing or helping people, you just care about selling your "fake vitamin" ASPIRIN tablet made in India.

it is neither the water nor soap nor germs, it is a kind of condition and it is also hereditary. i also suffer severely from it too. it is so bad that it lasts for up to 30mins after bath. the solution is to stop using sponge, use only soap and water to bath. . also avoid change of soap or change of type of water(like from bore hole to tap water). use of disinfectant is absolutely a waste of time .

Thanks Konfessor, I have been battling with mine since when I was young and nobody, no doc has ever prescribed any drugs that can remove this itching. All I have learned is to live with it. It is so severe when I use sponge and cold water.

its called Aquagenic pruritus

treatment options include: capsaicin cream, Ultraviolet-B Phototherapy, applications of baby oil before or after bathing, or lanolin-free Aqueous cream, H1 and H2 blockers such as Claritin, Doxepin or Cimetidine, Avoid alcohol, coffee, hot, spicy, fried fast foods. Drink lots of fresh fruit juices (except mango) and eat more vegetables, Dry yourself completely with 100 percent cotton towel, Wear 100 percent cotton clothes and use cotton bed sheets

Hi onikunkewu, henrysam et al,

Does the itching sometimes start while you are still bathing?

To put it another way, regardless of whether you are still bathing or you have finished bathing, does the itching start after a certain average number of minutes?

I will try another way, if you spend up to 2 hours in the bath, will the itching start while you are bathing?

I know of a water solution that has worked perfectly for me, but I need to be sure you are experiencing exactly the same problem before recommending the solution?

I LIVED WITH THE CONDITION FOR ABOUT A DECADE. IT WAS QUITE DEVASTATING BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT OPINIONS ON THE NAME, CAUSE AND TREATMENT.

WHEN I COULDN'T COPE ANY LONGER, I TURNED TO GOD AND GOT MY HEALING. 2ND SAMUEL 22:45-46, "Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me. Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places." I used this as my prayer point every time I was in the bathroom.

THOUGH I BELIEVE IN THE DOCTORS BUT WHEN THEY CAN'T HELP, WHAT DO WE DO? AN OPTION IS LEFT AND THAT IS TRYING THE HEAVENLY DOCTOR.

TAKE CARE.

Hi all,

I also have the same symptoms for about 5 years already, visited several specialist too but still persists,
Try wearing thin & soft polyester or dry fit T-shirt and it will reduce the itch.
Have tried and tested.

Let me know if it works for you.

Well MrBrownJay I believe we are all adults and we can disagree without being disrespectful. If you have a point to make then do it with regard for the other person.
Please note that Swissgarde is not a product as you implied in your comment above.Swissgarde is the name of a Health and beauty Company that sells a wide variety of health products for different health conditions. So it's not out of place for one to recommend Swissgarde products for a variety of ailments.
We've had lots of satisfied customers and you may be keeping people way from a solving a nagging problem. That is not fair.

AP
Does your skin itches badly as a result of contact with water (moisture, sweat, humidity etc)?
Do you itch severely after shower, exercise, brisk walk, stressful work or sport?
Do you experience crazy-like itching and torment?Does your itching episode accompanied by a feeling of desperate inconvenience?
Do your experience a feeling of helplessness and rage during your attack?
Can your Doctor neither diagnose your condition nor proffer solution?
Are you easily irritated during the episode?
Is your itch without rashes or weal?
Do you sometimes feel like you are freak?

If your answer is predominantly YES, follow me on the AP thread below:

What I've experienced was: the cooler the weather the lesser the itch. Similarly the itch increased in intensity when bathing with warm water. I learnt to avoid groundnuts, noodles, and corn-based products (including pap, corn flakes and golden morn), but use sponge for privates and quick baths though! I've also had a history of allergies and recently Yehve (God) healed me from SLE.

The itch seemed to be induced also with the presence of heat/humidity, change of clothes, certain clothing fibres, contact with some kind of furniture covering, loofah sponges, and smacks.

For now I'll go with bayomaks' and some of agathamari's. I eat a lot of ewa agoyin and I hope it isn't a culprit.

I wonder why I did not start a thread like this before stumbling on this one.
thanks to all of you with deep contributions especially agathamari, you are the bomb.
I have lived with this condition since 97 when I had a series of injections that aggravated the itching,I quickly asked the nurse to stop the injections after experincing terrible itching upon having my bath.
My system reacts to quinine therefore I don't go near any drugs containing that ingredient.
The said nurse who runs a big hospital after ajah in lekki now and who am considering taking legal action against gave me deadly precribtions e.g telling me to consume 2 packets of fulcin which equals 40 tablets.
She insisted I take 2 500g of fulcin a day,I tried it the first day and my vision became blurred.I also took the injection for the first time.
The next day I vehemently complained and she reasoned me into taking same dosage, this was a lady who was the chief matron at epe general hospital as at that time,is that not something to worry about?
The third day,I told her am no longer taking 2 500g of fulcin but one,I also rejected the injection and proceeded to tell her I forget them for her to keep.
I have been to the finest hospitals in town, all they tell me is ALLERGY.
One hospital told me I needed my system flushed.
One thing to note;I have never taken a drip my whole life so apart from your suggestions,I will go for "a system flush"
My itching occurs whether or not i use sponge, just worse if I use sponge though.
If I use hot water, the itching is very mild.
The itching holds sway for 8-10mns after my bath.
I use sponge every other day these past month, damn it!
When I drink beer, its worse but when I drink spirits, its not bad.
Cheers.
