What is wrong with all these ignorant Nigerian youths. These people do not understand that we all must die at one point or the other?
The mode of exit (whether it's convid 19 or whatever)doesn't matter
Equally, where you are buried doesn't also matter (remember the story of Lazarus and the Rich man)
What matters most is the destination!
Having JESUS now, while we are still breathing, is the ONLY WAY to heaven

The part that got my attention is the fact that a stranger cannot be buried in a house he built in another town within the country...

Not so much because of Covid-19, think this is the MAIN reason.

Burying someone in his compound is a function of tradition itself. In this 21st century we should be thinking of the cemetery when the matter of burial comes up.

The youths are just acting on something else personal. He has right to be buried in his compound whether its his state of origin or not. Urhobo have no tradition like that, how many strangers especially ibo women that married our men are always buried here without any problems. We have no tradition like that
sorry to say u know nothing about urhobo tradition.

The Youths were motivated by the elders, believe me it was not thier calling.
ecolime:
The community youths held the notion that it was against their traditions for a stranger to be buried in the community let alone a COVID-19 patient.

Reason why I am against the 'Black lives matter' movement in Nigeria. We don't like ourselves and we want others to do. Really pathetic.

Why should people be buried in homes? Dosent make any sense. Down the line, your generation may sell the land and the new owners will dispose as they see fit

It's their tradition, I'm in a relationship with an urobo girl, you can't bury a non indigen in their community, also you must bury their indegin in their community even if she's married to someone from another tribe. I don't know when they plan to change these traditions if they will, for anyone who wants to venture their, take note.

See the stigma that came with him having died of covid-19. Now imagine if the names of all the people that have had covid-19 mistakingly gets released.

Still, it is best that the family follows NCDC guidelines to bury the man

You right my bro and people are asking to show them faces and names, now u see why they must be protected cos its the same people that will stigmatize them to death.

research about owhowha group of Urhobo made up of 4 brothers. Ogor Ughelli, Agbarha and orogun . these are the oldest group of Urhobo, from Agbarha agbassa-warri, oghara, Jesse, mosogar etc and most Urhobo kingdoms sprout out of this 4 sibling clans. I am directly from one of them and you're probably from one of our newly sprouted clans and a christian that's why you're ignorant of our culture. Urhobo culture started here and we bury our non Urhobo wives here! So that means its not forbidden to bury strangers here. Urhobo women cannot b buried outside their land because she wasn't not sold to the man, a change is returned to the grooms family from the bride price so that means the Urhobo woman must be buried in her father land but other tribes don't do this they sell their daughters completely and we buy them completely and bury them in our land. You don't know anything about my culture, I myself is a custodian

What nonsense tradition. What of a lot of Delta people that I have seen buried In Lagos. Why didn't lagosians insist d bodies shouldn't be buried and therefore taken back home. Those guys are touts and jobless especially this lockdown period.

Oduok:
I think it is not a matter of Covid-19 but tradition. Since as Africans we honour religion and tradition, then their tradition should be respected. This may not respond to logic and reason.

Read the part where the youth stated that he should bury in the cemetery. Cemetery is Delta state, I guess.

Meanwhile, those Deltans that you're talking about that were buried in Lagos, were buried in cemetery. cool

What a very ethnocentric and tribalistic society. Spits in disgust angry

all this things still result back to the government, government said they dont release covid19 corpse, why is this one different.
Back to the youth,I understand its a personal matter between the man and the youth, maybe the man no try when him dey alive, but all these things na becos we no dey think and we dont respect the dead or fear death anylonger, the man has purchased a land in the village and married a native of that land so he has every right to be buried in his house, where were the foolish set of youth when he was buying and building the house, why didn't they tell him then when he was buying that he is a stranger in there land so therefore he won't be allowed to build his house there.
They youth are crazy,we believe in violence in Nigeria as a whole make the woman carry heavily armed military bury the man,if they are serious about tradition and culture they should carry him out after the burial has taken place we would now know they are serious.
FOOLISH OLORIBURUKU YOUTHS.
instead of channeling their energy to something creative they are fighting over dead body.

I’m guessing that someone in that community has had his eye on that plot for a long time, reason why the man even in death wants to protect it for his family.
The man has been living in that community for years, married to their sister and they still call him a stranger because they want to rob him.
Ibori shud call his younger brodas to order, because that man ghost go worry o! grin
