speak for yourself and your heathen beliefs. most people in the world have abandoned such cave-like thinking. go and check the percentage of the world population that still believes such trash. what good have your gods ever done for you that you keep honouring them?
most importantly, what people believe is not the law. there is something known as the rule of law. it is illegal except with government permission which they did not seek talk less of obtain. condolences to the family of the bereaved

MrMcJay:
Honour? I laugh.

In most cultures it’s widely believed that when someone drowned in a river he/she is “collected “ by the river goddess, so it’s now a property of the goddess, so if you want to take back the person’s corpse from her you have to appease her and seek her permission otherwise she will get angry and kill more members of that family holding her property until the corpse is exhumed and returned back to her.

Even Fela who was an atheist sang about it in his song "Water no get enemy".

Very true.
Do you know that the bodies of more than 1,200 people who drowned in the Oke Afa canal in 2001 were buried just beside the canal?

Those arguing, you know more than the Lagos State Government abi?

Burial is part of culture, Culture is part of religion. Interment is not globally practiced, some use cremation, some bury upside down, some hang from trees, some cover with rocks, some are thrown in the water.

I am a Christian but I'm educated enough to let you know that burial is part of culture and culture varies. After all, Jesus Christ wasn't interred in the ground, he was laid in a tomb. Lazarus also was laid in a tomb cos that was their culture.

So, the beliefs aren't heathen and the fact that you don't believe in something doesn't mean that you are more intelligent or of better standing than those who do.

As to Rule of law, who do you think buried them beside the water? Better go and get more info.

you are a bundle of contradictions so I won't bother engaging you anymore. obviously you are confused. it was you who brought up water spirits in your first post and not me. you saying that it was the government that buried the corpse shows you didn't even understand the original story... no point continuing this conversation...

p.s fela's song has nothing to do with your submission! it simply means that we cannot avoid using water no matter the perils involved

Righteousness89:
Condolences to her Family!

Death has no respect for age..

The young and old are not spared by death !

Rev 20:12

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

If you were to go today, what will be your Fate?
Talk to your self! Let this be your utmost priority!
You are the one who will feel the pains or joy on the other side.

Rev 20:15
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Prayer for someone after death of is a complete and Comprehensive waste of time .. it has no effect on the Dead!

Mercy Expires at Death!

Let us do the Needful now we have Breathe!
