pls Govt should work on this canal problem.. Things like this should be taking into consideration. There is this undergroung drainage around awolowo way ikeja close to the new busstop at the left side going towards alausa, this drainage opening had been left opened for long and this is very risky as life can be lost there. i wonder why our govt will see this situation and ignore them. Is it when life had been lost thats when the govt will wake up. Pls if you are a govt official reading this, pls go to awolowo road and you will see the death trap that has been there for long. Pls let be proactive in this country and not reactive.

Extremely hot temperatures caused stored bombs to explode at Ikeja Cantonment. The sounds were heard all around Lagos. People at Oke Afa area tried running from one end to the other and because they saw seaweed cover the canal, they didn't know it was deep.

Eventually people sank in the mud and close to 2000 died in that canal but they couldn't recover all the bodies.

All bodies recovered were buried by the Lagos State Government just beside the canal. If you go there, there is a cenotaph there.
