Help, My Newborn Has This Skin Problem by mandalorian(op): 9:16am On Jun 27, 2020
Hello house, my boy is barely one month old and he developed this skin issue. One of my colleagues said it is Ela(Yoruba) but from my experience, ela use to manifest as very red tiny rashes around the neck and joints.

Now this one is not on his neck (though it is in both his elbow joints, scarcely on his Tommy and this morning I say it at the back of his knee), his skin molts around the rashes. I just can't completely describe it that's why I included the pics.

I need help elders in the house. I took him back to the hospital where he was born but they said it will go but I don't like the look.

Mods pls help me push to fp.

Sorry oh, please if you can afford it, buy savlon antiseptic liquid to add to the baby water to bath, and also buy sudocrem to rub on the skin, anywhere this rashes appear. It should clear it. Or best option, please go and see a qualified paediatrician doctor, let them check your baby well and prescribe what's best to cure it, because it might also be an internal infection. Please see doctor quick. There was a time my baby had some boil ish, as broke as I was den, I borrow money go see paediatrician doctor for LASUTH. Na so God save me oh, cuz d baby had an internal infection, not just outwards and na d internal infection come dey cause d skin ish and cause fever. Please don't joke with baby health oh. God bless. Wish you the best and speedy recovery for your beautiful baby smiley

Modified: na now I just dey read your post finish. Please oh, don't mind those doctors at that hospital you birth your baby. They can be non challant and lax sometimes. Take him elsewhere, like Ayinke House in LASUTH, they have many good paediatricians there. Let them run tests on your baby, cuz as a newborn one month old, is possible those are caused by traces of infection from childbirth. Abeg oh, act fast. Babies are fragile

Go and run blood test on the baby, can't remember the name. The doctors will check for internal infection. Then still buy sudocrem and antiseptic. Sudocrem will clear the infection or rash on the skin, and you can use the powder too

Buy advantan cream from any pharmacy, it shouldn't be more than 2000 or medystern (350). All these will be history.

Try Shea butter and coconut oil.
Don't apply antiseptic or fungal creams as suggested. He is still tender. It might be internal. The skin peel is normal for newborns though.

Your baby is shading his skin at the same time have Ela or Obo as the Igbos call it...

You can only get rid of it using agbo/herbs ( Yoruba people) have the best treatment for it.. Both the one he would take orally to kill off the bacterias from the inside and then the one you would cook to bath him with, if possible request for also the cream...

I doubt if the modern drugs work for it because it never worked on my 4 kids when they had it...

Don't Fret, it's nothing to worry about

Have you carried out DNA test?
Start from there first

This is nothing serious. Most babies have this and I think it clears without any treatment.

Likely caused by heat.
